Founding Fathers of Nevada's First Metropolitan Police Department

Subsequent to a 1968 study conducted by the Public Administration Services and to the establishment of a State Legislative group called the Local Government Study Committee, a committee was formed in Las Vegas to study and make recommendations for the consolidation of the Las Vegas Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff's Office. This was the fore-runner to the establishment of Nevada's first metropolitan police department. This committee has become known as the "Founding Fathers" of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. This was an amazing cross-section of the City, the City PD and the County SO. A sergeant, a captain, two Chief Deputies, a Deputy Chief, an Assistant Chief, the Undersheriff and an Assistant City Manager formed the group. The Founding Fathers are identified below.

Mr. William Adams, Assistant City Manager, City of Las Vegas, Nevada

Ray Gubser, Chief Deputy, Clark County Sheriff's Office

Amos A. Elliott, Jr., Deputy Chief, Las Vegas Police Department

Joseph McDonnell, Sergeant, Las Vegas Police Department

Larry L. Ketzenberger, Captain, Las Vegas Police Department

Lloyd Bell, Undersheriff, Clark County Sheriff's Office

George W. Allen, Jr., Assistant Chief, Las Vegas Police Department

Bart Jacka, Chief Deputy, Clark County Sheriff's Department
