Begin of the construction work was at 11.4.1944 with building of Baracks and lodgings for 15000 workers (about 10000 foreign slaveworkers). The old, existing porcelain-sandmine Grosseutersdorf was the starting point; west and north (in the north should be build 12 new, between 100 and 200m long tunnels) followed the new tunnels. The old tunnelsystem should be straighted, and widet up to 5m. New Entrys in the Mountain should be build parallel to these constructing. Tunnel 33-36 formed the underground installation halls with about 15m width. The whole tunnelsystem should reach 30000m. The underground workingconditions were very bad; there was not enough fresh air. Also 7 month after beginning the fresh air problem was not solved. The the vast majority of the workers consists of slaveworkers; approximately 12000. They came from Poland, Belgium, Netherland, the Ukraine, Kroatia, Slowenia, Lettland, Estland, Italy, France and other countrys. They had to work at least 10 hours, and they had to walk up to 6 km from the camp to the working place. Recorded are 991 cases of Death conditional on malnutrition, accidents a. s. o.
