Debo

I have been blessed with many special friends and family members who have touched my heart during my life-time. One in particular comes to mind when I reflect on the important things in life. I want my little space to be considered a tribute to him.........and hope my reflections of the past may remind you of someone who made you smile. An individual who helped make you what you are today, and hopefully inspire you to be that special person in someones life.

Daddy
January 31, 1933 - April 13, 1979

He was a Daddy from the start to the end,
But most importantly, he was my very best friend.

He would always take me with him in his Ford pickup truck,
I got to help him on the farm, and ride the horse that didn't buck.

He taught me to fish, to tie and bait my own hook,
There wasn't a thing he couldn't do, at least in my book.

Even when I messed up, he very seldom got mad,
Never whipped or spanked, yet when I disappointed him, I felt bad.

He had the kind of morals you don't see every day,
And treated everybody in a very special way.

Wish my kids could have known him, to experience his charm,
And get to spend some summer days with him, down home on the farm.

He loved to fly in his plane, to check his crops with delight,
And guess he was doing what he loved, on his last fateful flight.

I'll never stop missing him, but I do feel quite glad,
That I was fortunate enough to have called him my Dad.
