Kim was at the level 9 and 10 PA State Gymnastics Championships March 28-29 in Erie, PA. She was on hand to perform an exhibition floor to "Lord of the Dance" complete with a double layout, whip through to a very high back tuck, and a double back, in between gymnastics sessions. Kim also stayed on hand to watch the whole meet and handed out all the awards, posed for pictures, and signed autographs.

During Kim's comeback for the 1996 Olympics she was coached by Alexander Alexandrov, the coach of the rival USSR team at the 1991 Worlds and 1992 Olympics.

Kim's favorite gymnast as she was growing up was Mary Lou Retton and Daniela Silivas.
