Brazil currency : the brazilian Real
BRAZIL
TRAVEL INFORMATION

|
The currency
used in Brazil is called the Real (R$) (pronounced Ray-all; the plural
is Reais, pronounced Ray-eyes). Brazilian
bills come in denominations of $ 2, $5, $10, $20
$ 50 and $100.Coins are 5 cents, 10 cents, 25
cents, 50cents and 1 real. The Real foreign
exchange rate is published daily in the
newspapers and other specialized websites.
Foreign currency in Brazil may be exchanged at
banks, travel agencies and authorized hotels.
Travellers cheques as well as currencies
are easily exchanged at these locations.
International credit cards are accepted at most
hotels, restaurants, stores, travel agencies, car
rental companies and other companies that render
services to tourists. A floating exchange rate is
used.
TRAVELER' CHECKS
Traveler's checks aren't a very good idea in
Brazil. Most shops won't accept them,
hotels give a miserable exchange rate (if
they cash them), and many banks have a
strange policy that they will not cash your
traveler's checks unless you have an
account at that branch of that bank. The
Banco do Brasil is the only bank that will
cash them with a minimum of hassle but will charge a US$20 service fee.
Better
exchange for American and Europe travelers for
2019- 2020
The Brazilian
currency has remained reasonably stable. From
November 2006 to April 2007, the American dollar
maintained an average exchange rate of R$ 3,60
according to information provided by the
Brazilian Central Bank.For 2019 and 2020 is
expected the exchange rate of R$ 3.80 up to R$
3.90 per dollar, which means cheap vacations for
American and Europe tourists.
Tip: When exchanging money, be it
cash or traveler's checks, always keep the
receipt. You will need it in case you want
to change back any unused Reais at the
end of your trip. See online for an easy currency converter.
