BLOODY MURDER Written by John R. Stevenson FADE IN: EXT. ROAD - NIGHT An old road stretches between towering trees. WE SEE a small car come to a stop. It's headlights remain on and the soft music fades. There are two people in the car. The man is BILL. BILL (V.O.) I don't understand. I just filled the tank up twenty miles ago. FEMALE (V.O.) It's empty now, Bill. Bill sighs and gets out of the car, leaving his pregnant girlfriend. He walks around to the back of the car and opens the trunk. He takes out a gasoline can. He goes back to the driver's side and shuts the door. He waves the can at his girlfriend, signaling his intentions. Again, he starts walking in the opposite direction of the car...into darkness. He continues walking down the desolate dirt road. LONG ANGLE - BEHIND BILL He comes to a parked truck in the middle of the road. Bill raises his hand. BILL Hey, I was wondering if you could help us out. My wife...my wife and I ran out of gas down the road. Could you give me a lift down to the station? WE SEE man's legs step back for a moment. The man turns on his "brights". Bill is wowed. It's intensely bright. The man brings a chainsaw into view. He steps out in front of his truck. He is wearing an old hockey mask and a mechanic jumpsuit. Bill drops the gas can. BILL (CONT'D) Trevor Moorehouse... Trevor starts the chainsaw. Bill falls to the ground. He stumbles, but gets back up. We follow him as he runs through the wooded forest. Behind him, WE CAN SEE Trevor still close on his tail. Trevor slices his way through the thicket using his chainsaw. Bill falls again in the weeds. Again, he gets back up and runs. WE SEE Trevor in the clear...hot on his trail. Bill runs further. Trevor paces behind, letting the chainsaw swing freely. He continues cutting down small trees as he pursues. Bill keeps running, but occasionally looking back at the killer. Bill falls...for the last time. He looks up as Trevor is standing over him. BILL (CONT'D) No...no...no...NOOOO! Trevor slams the chainsaw into his chest. CUT TO: EXT. ROAD - DAY WE SEE an SUV coming down a gravel road. It's a nice day out. Inside the car is DEAN, JASON, JULIE, WHITNEY, and TOBE. WHITNEY (V.O.) How could he drive with a chainsaw for a right hand? INSIDE CAR -- TOBE It was his left hand and I'm telling you: it happened. It's well documented. Trevor Moorehouse, the guy's legendary in these parts. JASON Yeah man. I heard something about that. DEAN Bull shit. It's camp lore. There's no such person as Trevor Moorehouse. TOBE I guess that's what we'll tell ourself when we're trying to sleep at night. They all laugh. The SUV pulls into camp grounds. JASON How you doing back there, Jules? She has her head buried in a book. JULIE I'm fine. JASON I'm really glad you decided to come. Contrary to what your father would have you believe, I'm not the big bad wolf Jules. They all laugh again. The SUV pulls into yet another dirt road that has a sign reading CAMP PLACID PINES. It comes to its final parking spot. A man comes walking from the other side of a building as the new counselors get out of their car. MALE Hey. Let's see. Dean, Whitney, Jason, Julie and Tobe. TOBE Wow. You bend spoons too? MALE No. I recognize you from your applications. I'm Patrick. DEAN Hey. PATRICK How you doing? I'll be your boss for the nest six weeks. JASON Who else is here? Another walks up holding cans. WHITNEY Uh-oh. PATRICK Hey Brad. BRAD Where you want these paint cans? PATRICK Hey Brad, this is Julie, Whitney, Jason... JASON Yeah...yeah we met. BRAD Look. I didn't know he was going to be here. Maybe this isn't such a good idea. JASON Yeah. Maybe it isn't. PATRICK Does somebody want to fill me in here? BRAD Jason and I used to run track against each other at school. Last time we ran for qualifications, he broke his knee ten yards from the finish line. JASON That's funny. I don't recall that was the last time you raced. PATRICK So I guess most of you know each other? Another male and female walk up. PATRICK (CONT'D) Look, I'm sorry there's some bad history here but we have a job to do. Is this going to be a problem? JASON No problem here. BRAD No. No problem. PATRICK Good. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Dean, Jason, you guys can help me move this wood and you three can get started on the food. He throws Whitney the keys. PATRICK (CONT'D) Truck's out back. The three leave. Dean and Jason stay at the SUV. CUT TO: INT. KICTHEN - CONTINUOUS WE SEE Tobe, Whitney and Julie enter. All three carry boxes. TOBE It frightens me to think that my diet for the next six weeks will consist primarily of cream spinach and Mrs. Pete's tator-tots. WHITNEY Well I'm sticking with what I know: Ritz crackers and peanut butte. Basic building block of a well rounded eating disorder. TOBE Wow. No shortage of knives in here. He picks one up. TOBE (CONT'D) Look at this. WHITNEY More than I can say for the rest of the kitchen. Pretty bare isn't it? Where do you think these go? She holds up her box.
