Henry Jacob Kunstel (1905-1974) was the third son of Robert and Mary Gregovich Kunstel, who emigrated to the United States from Slovenia (Austria) at the turn of the last century.
In the early 1920s, Henry married Mildred Morley, an Irish Catholic St. Louisan. They had a son who died in infancy, and their only son John, or Jack as he was called, was born in 1930. Later they adopted Kay in New York State and lived in Kenmore, outside of Buffalo where Henry had relocated in his work for Centainteed Products Co.
The family eventually moved to South Florida where Jack met and married Diane Geinitz Kunstel in 1963 after meeting each other as employees of the Eden Roc Hotel. Jack later worked for a number of other hotels in the area and was eventually employed for the Miami Beach Tourism Authority where he met with company officials throughout the U.S. to coordinate conventions and attract major sporting events to Miami and Dade County.
