| Gup Levels are considered to be like grade school, where the student learns the basic skills of self defense, balance and harmony of mind and body. With each new level a better awareness and self confidence is felt and seen. |
| Tang Soo Do Black Belts or Dans wear belts that are Midnight blue in color to symbolize life instead of black which means death. Beginning at this "college" level the Student is also becoming a teacher and is growing in his skills, learning higher forms, becoming a leader and is passing his/ her knowledge to newer students. |
