These pages are made to help people understand what different kinds of boots and bandages are and what they do. They also have some instructions on putting them on, but these instructions should NOT be the only ones you use. It is very easy to damage a horse's leg by putting on a bandage or boot the wrong way, so you should get help from an expert until you get the hang of it.

BOOTS

Fetlock boots- prevent sores on the front of the fetlocks
Hock boots- prevent sores on the outside of the hocks
Splint (aka galloping) boots- protect the inside of the lower limb from being injured by the opposite limb or hitting on jumps, etc
Rundown(aka skid) boots- protect the ergot/rear fetlock area when riening, cutting, or roping horses stop deep and hard
Bell boots (aka overreach boots)- protect the coronary band from blows when the horse is working or traveling in a trailer
Sport boots- offer support to flexor tendons and protect the inside of the limb
