Toward a Theology of Sexuality: Volume 2

Toward a Theology of Sexuality is an approach to understanding the body-spirit as a whole creation of God - a gift to us in all its variety and experiences.

This publication, Toward a Theology of Sexuality: Volume Two, will be the second several that are intended to spark discussion and reflection and further writing.

Call for Papers:
We are asking for papers on a wide variety of topics dealing with sexuality and spirituality. Some topics we have thought of are suggested below but we encourage you to take these ideas and develop your own stand on how you sense the Divine in your sexual experience and expression.

Due Date:
We want to edit and prepare a draft for consideration at our annual IT! meeting in August. We need your submission in our hands by June 30; that means postmarked June 15 for paper and (ASCII text-only disc copy) or sent by e-mail by July 15.

Suggested topic are:

What makes a union holy? Love and death
Cruising in & around the church - "playing" with a congregant
Sex and power - sexual ethics - abuse within sexual relationships
Imaging a genderless Divine - impact/implications for sexual relations
Transsexuality - did God make a mistake?
Leather, B&D, S&M, sex play - roles and responsibilities
Safe, sane, & consensual - boundaries and how to draw the line
Bisexuality, Ambisexuality, the ideally human state?
Monogamy and polygamy (triad partnerships, etc.)
Why is it important to declare your sexual orientation? (claim who you are)
Safer Sex - What have we learned from AIDS?
Sexuality of Jesus - "a queer Christ/Christa"

Suggestions for contributors:

no imposed systematic approach but liberation-based so use the theological stance that suits you -
provide your 'coming out' story and your reconciliation of your faith and sexuality.
answer "How do your sexual decisions/behaviors reflect your theology?"
answer "How does your theology shape your intimate relationships?"
make points in paragraphs then illustrate by personal accounts, examples
