I've had this site bookmarked 4 awhile now.... Love it! I've been collecting Dead or Alive now 4 19years ....first single of course "That's The Way"...& became the biggest Pete Freak in Toronto. Many years, many hours, hunting down rare 12" singles/45's, LP's, CD's....I'm also still loving the early Nightmares in Wax/Dead or Alive... finally have many of the very early releases. YET, the only EP i've yet to get is "It's Been Hours Now"...seen it in a store back in 1989..But, of course it was only on DISPLAY!! haha (darn!) Anyhow...just wanted 2 share...Also, if anyone out there has Dead or Alive Performance Video from European TV shows: Top of the Pops, Wogan, The Tube, etc....i would love 2 hear from U ! Thnx, TT

My friend and I were big into Culture Club, Hayzi Fantayzie, Marilyn, Duran, and our favorite...Dead or Aliv . I have most of their twelve inch imported remix records, including the Nightmares in Wax release. I also have a great memory of seeing Dead or Alive at the Saint club in nyc when Brand New Lover came out and even though it was a lip synched thing they rocked! I believe Dead or Alive really kicked off the Gothic Dance Movement, especially since Wayne Hussey of the Mission/Sisters wrote some of the material on Sophisticated...and most notably on Misty Circles. I am defintely a fan of their darker sound ng more SnM sort of dance stuff, especially Sophisticated. But Youthquake is definitely a classic along with MadBadDangerous to Know. I also believe that they single handedly started part of the freestyle dance movement with Stock Waterman Aitken in the early eighties. Me as a dj/musician would definitely list Dead or Alive as one of the most innovative dance bands ever. And with that little bit of goth thrown in for good measure, I might have to say that they also influenced the acid-house movement and summer of love in London in 89 pred ceded by 5 or more years. As far as your site is concerned...anything that has information about Nightmares in Wax or Dead or Alive's first EP which included It's been hours now, is a classic in my book. Rock on guyz!

I much prefer pete burns todate then in the old days - i am 25 years of age and from early 1984 i noticed pete and the gand performing "what i want" and ever since then - pete burns is GOD and i love him to 4ever and no one like boy george will ever get i his way - "i'll make sure of that" pete burns is my inspiration and the best performer i have ever seen live - he is reality and his outfits are amasing - i like to dress like pete cause i know no one else would ever dress like him because they don't know him. pete burns till death do us part love the one and only south african soul (not fan) there's many fans but only 1 ME. Just wanted to say, I've visited this page quite a few times and I just love it. Congrats on capturing DOA's finest period. I long for the days when DOA makes brilliant music like this again. Though I no longer obsess over Steve like I used to (Thank You, God!), he and Pete, and the wonderful music they made in the 80s will always have a special place in my heart. I still have all the old stuff and I can listen to it now without being angry and feeling betrayed. I've come full circle now. Now that Culture Club is reunited and touring, I'm back with them. I remember the first time I saw a DOA video, it was during the Culture Club era and Duran Duran phase, the video I first saw was YSMR. At first I wasn't crazy about the video but I loved the song from the radio. I was expecting a masculine muscle man af er hearing his beautiful voice. I was sure suprised. Then several years later I saw the video for Brand New Lover and was hooked. My favorite is Come home with me Baby. As well as my new fave YSMR. People change. LOVE this site!! Finally a site dedicated to the band's older material! Love the pics too, and that jagged font is right on!! My heart nearly broke when I recognized some of the pics from old issues of Starhits Magazine...that mag was the best! I just recently got hold of some of DOA's earlier music. It is quite interesting, none the less. I particularly like "The Stranger". It has a better sound than the other earlier songs.
