Selected Writings:
Poetry, Prose, Songs and Reflections
Were miners and were office clerks
and everyday were told
that were unemployed and useless now;
too young or else too old.
Were being laid-off, one-by-one.
We get it by the score.
Were being robbed of everything
each day, and then some more
Well, its not for any reason
that we dont already know.
Its another bloody lay-off
and were back out on the dole.
And nothing really changes much,
but the line-ups where we stand
for a job thats always taken,
or the god-damned Sally Ann.
Wage slaverys responsible
but we always get the blame.
Its happened once too often, now,
and its a dirty rotten game.
So I hear my unions out on strike
and I really wish my comrades well,
for your livelihood is worth fighting for,
and I hope they fight like hell.
Because its not for any reason
that they dont already know.
Its another bloody lay-off
and theyre back out on the dole.
And the world will never change at all
if we dont start fighting back
for jobs that are always taken
get the bosses off our backs!
