More on Jon

  • There are great quotes from Jon here. He appears not as the shady creature that he was sort of made out to be in the 1997 VH1 special where he could not openly discuss his relationship with George. This time he is open and honet, and succeded in gaining the respect of fans. Here is what he had to say in the article: ""I still have a great affect on George, and him on me. You know, we still love each other. We were very much in love. It was a great love story of our time--and it ended in disaster. If it had been with a woman, it probably would have been Wuthering Heights!"

  • A poignant line appears in the article about one of the best Culture Club songs, "Time (Clock of the Heart)." It says that the song is about "the ultimate futility of their doomed romance."

  • The reporter also points out that George still "obsesses" about the relationship in both interviews and lyrics.

  • Jon says that the bandmembers are getting along well now.

  • Jon's wife is absolutely fine with the Culure Club reunion, though she does occasionally grill Jon, "Are you sure you don't still fancy George?"

  • Great quote from Jon: "Look, when George wrote his book, he thought I was worried about people knowing about my relationship with him. Which was not true! I mean, I'm not gay but I fell in love with George and I went out with him. So what? Big deal. It's not like I'm trying to hide anything. My parents know about it, my friends know about it. I don't care what anybody says--if I've done something, I've done it, I'm proud of it. George always had that thing with me, that I was scared that people would know about our relationship. That's why it's better now, because now he understands."

  • He says working again with George was hard at first and still is a bit awkward. But he says "we keep it at a distance and it's ok."

  • George has revealed that after Culture Club's first reunion meeting, he wrote yet another song about Jon. Jon's thoughts on being the muse that inspired all these great lyrics? "The songs are very nice that he's written about me, but I don't really think about it that way. George just writes great songs."

    Once again, Jon comes through for fans, providing he�s not embarrassed about the relationship with George and admitting that it did impact his life. He�s again able to say he still loves George in a way, though they keep their distance from each other. �It goes a lot deeper than having a sexual affair with someone, you know?� he says.
