Herbal Spreads

Here's another quick recipe. Herbal spreads are always a hit with family, friends, or at a party.

Ingredients:

One 8 oz. Package of Cream Cheese OR

One 8 oz. Tub of whipped butter (salted or unsalted)

Fresh or dried herbs (basil, lovage, oregano, sage, rosemary, dill, etc. Be creative!)

Optional: Tabasco sauce or cayenne pepper

Put the butter or cream cheese into a food processor or blender along with 2 or 3 tbs. of herbs. (Note: dried herbs are usually more potent than fresh herbs, so adjust the amount accordingly.) Process for about 30 seconds at high speed, or until the herbs are thoroughly mixed.

For the adventurous, add some Tabasco sauce or a small pinch of cayenne pepper. (About one eighth tsp. Because this stuff is potent!)

Serve with bread or crackers. Herbed cream cheese is great with bagels!

Suggestion: press some herbed butter into small candy molds and refrigerate overnight to make individual pats of butter in festive shapes.
