Can't Take My Eyes Off You
 by Reishin ([email protected])

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.

"Oi!  Trowa!  Head's up."

Without looking up from his work, he casually snatched the cold can from mid-air.

"Ah.  Arigatou."

The other boy walked up, chugging down his own drink.  "Ya know.  I don't understand how you can still keep your reflexes but lose your memory like that."  He shook his head in amazement then nudged the silent boy playfully.  "But you must have had a thing for blondes before, ne."

Trowa finally looked up at that last remark.  "Why do you say that?", calmly watching Evan blink.

"Well . . . everytime you see a blonde you stare.  You even looked like you were going to chase after a few of them."

Trowa shrugged slightly and went back to work.

At long last love has arrived.
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

He didn't remember.  Had he been that obvious?  He didn't know why but . . .

Sometimes flashes of a smiling face would appear before him, gone before he could grasp them, but they would always have shining blonde hair and stunning blue eyes.

Who was it?

Why only . . . those features though?  Why did they stand out in his mind so much?  He would start whenever he glanced himself in the mirror.

But those blue eyes . . .,that blonde hair, seemed even more familiar than his own brown bangs and green stare.

Who did that blonde hair belong to?

Pardon the way that I stare.
There's nothing else to compare.
The thought of you leaves me weak.
There are no words left to speak.

Hmm . . . his dreams were haunted by the sounds of a violin playing . . .

Sweet, melancholic, catching at his heart.

It was beautiful.

But if you feel like I feel.
then let me know that it's real.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

"Catherine."

"Hmm?"

"Did I play the violin . . . before?"

"Not that I knew of."

"Did I . . . know someone who did?"

A slight hesitation.  "Possibly."

I love you baby, and if it's quite all right,
I need you baby to warm my lonely night.
I love you baby.

Trowa let the matter drop.  She was always uncomfortable about speaking of his "previouis" life.  So they talked about the circus life, he got to know her again . . . a normal life.

Well, if it wasn't for the fact that she threw knives at him for a living.

But a small piece of his mind always worked, always wondered.

Who was he?

Trust in me when I say:
I love you baby, don't let me down, I pray.
I love you baby, now that I found you. Stay.

A sigh.

A whisper of a breath.

Ah.  The violin . . . sounds as if it is weeping.

Who's that?

The blonde . . boy? had his head turned away, playing.

And let me love you, baby. Let me love you ...

The name . . . what was the name.

"What's your name?"

The smaller boy didn't answer, but he did stop playing, staring at him with sorrowful wide blue eyes.

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.

Trowa. . .

He started . . . how did the other know him?

Trowa, I'm so sorry.

Forgive me.

Come back to me.

Remember me.

Trowa.

At long last love has arrived.
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

He reached out for the other.

"Wait.  What are you talking about."

"What's your name, " he demanded.

The other smiled at him gently through his falling tears.

I love you baby, and if it's quite allright,
I need you baby to warm the lonely night.
I love you baby.

"Ah.  Shimatta.  Don't cry . . .please."

"I hate it when you cry."

"I'll do anything . . . just, don't cry."

"I promise."

"I'll remember you."

"Somehow."

Trust in me when I say:
I love you baby, don't bring me down, I pray.
I love you baby, now that I found you. Stay.

He woke up.  Ah, that dream again.  It was fading fast.  All he could recall were the soft strains of a violin.  Those same blue eyes, pleading with him. . . to?

Remember.

And he had promised.

And let me love you, baby. Let me love you ...

Whoever you are . . . I'll remember you.  I'll find you, and you'll never cry again.

I love you baby, and if it's quite allright...

I promise.
