Prehistoric Art Collection Gallery
I find Prehistoric animals facinating. Much like the dinosours, they too are extinc, but now have decendances who live amoung us. Here I've placed both anthro & non-anthro pieces.
American Lion
I was amazed to find that at one time lions roamed freely in America. They were much larger than the ones you see now-a-days. Guess they really don't make things like they use to, just another reason to buy American.
Dire wolf
These big pups actually had maines like lions and a large bite to boot.
Hyaenodon
It was an american phrehistoric mamal, but it's not a hyaena... it's not a canine, & it's not a feline, infact it has no decendant. This sleek beast is definatly my aboslute favorite of all prehistoric mamals.
Andrewsarchus
Belive it or not this big nasty carnivourus beast is actually the ancestor of whales & dolphins. Andrew named after it's founder is the reason why flipper needs air. I bet he'd never guess his decendance would become a star.
Dinofelis
Your really didn't think that the Sabertooth cat was the only one out there. Yes Dinofelis definatly gave our famous friend a run for his money, but lost the race for stardom.
Leptictidium
Funny name for one funny critter. This small mamal lived in the trees & ate insects. It had very powerful legs & jumped from tree to tree, & yes it has a trunk like nose.
Macrauchenia
Though it looks like it's an ancestor of the camel or even the geraph, but, alas, it has no living relative. Too bad it would be intresting to see a geraph with a trunk.
Megatherium
Aka the giant ground sloth, stood about two stories high. No need for an elevator around this guy,  and belive it oe not this guy actually does have some decendance still alive. The 3 toed sloth is rare, slow & lives it's entire life hanging upside down from trees.
Propalaeotherium
This small dog sized quadrapod may look like a pig, but actualy is the ancestor to the horse and had a steady diet of berries and fruit instead of hay,
Woolly Rhino
I wonder if this guy shared  grounds with buffalo at one time or another.I also wonder if rogane ever though of having one of these as a mascot. Wooly Rhinos are much simular to their modern decendence with the exception of it's large hump horn size & thick fur.
