The way to go to temple after bath emphasises the necessity to keep clean and pure. Scientifically, cleanliness keeps the body diesease-free. Next, one gets the theertha prasadam from the priest. And this holy water contains thulasi, a herbal plant which controls the cold and asthma and purifies the lungs and aslo acts as an appetizer.
In temples, one is asked to come around the sanctum sanctorum. This is a form of an exercise where one cannot practice walking in life. This may be due to many reasons. And also due to modern inventions in the field of communications, one becomes weary of walking and this leads to unnecessay complications. But in the name of bakthi, one is made to walk in the temples.
The giant banyan tree inside the temple provides good ozone and it is believed that it activates the harmones in the body. The childless young women are advised to come around this tree which promptly activates the harmones and corrects the uterus related problems.
The large mantapams, provide a platform for music and dance and for performing other form of arts. This provides a relief to the people who come to the temple. Apart from this, people develop new relationships.
Further,we can illustrate more scientific approaches in temple worship. The Padhakshina (coming around), the prostration (kneeling) provide an exercise to the body. And tapping the forehead before Lord Ganesha, stimulates the fluid which guards the brain and activates. The thoppukaranam (sit & stand) is also an exercise which is identical to pull-ups.
