As the 1999 ends "In The Beginning" has come, hearlding the millenium, and hopefully a new era has begun for ANGEL.
I sit here and listen, as it plays and reflect on was was and what is to be, no regrets but in the twenty some odd years, times have changed. Barry & Frank have with them.
If any were looking for a retrospect of the "old" ANGEL, it won't be found here. Times have changed and so has ANGEL. On this CD is something new & strange, moving on to new ground & to directions not expected. Yes, there are a few songs that herald the "best of times" (sorry, Dennis) but the majority can be a either a disappointment or a refreshing departure depending on who you are.
It is great to hear Felix and Punky (a little more next time, sir if you please), it is unfortunate that Gregg & Mickey are missing. But Barry is there like old wall of sound he always was, and Frank's voice are here again, like long lost friends, who were never truly forgotten.
Don't get me wrong, I love "In The Beginning", there are some beautiful songs here, and the voice I love is back. But the title does say it all, Barry & Frank reflect their roots of the old, but prove this is a"new" ANGEL as well.
So, gentlemen I raise my glass to you and say welcome back, and I ready to follow you on new path, with a toast to the past as well
