Task 1 (P2)
Make the following changes to the default settings of the software to solve the employee problems outlined in the interview feedback. You will need to show:
- Give all files/folders meaningful names
- Setting autosave to a reduced time to your work area folder for unit 09
- Add icons to the quick access toolbar
- Change the default font, style and size
- Adjusting the size of icons
Where possible you must show how you did the customisation using ‘before’ and ‘after’ screen shots.
Task2 (P1)
For each customisation include:
- A brief description of how you did it.
How it benefits the user e.g. speed, accuracy, ease of use and consistency of style
Task 3 (P3)
Produce a test plan of your customisations to check that it meets the requirements of the user.
Task 4(P4)
Create two templates for Express DVD Rentals. The manager has asked you to design a membership form that could be emailed to new members (Word). They also would like you to design a data entry form to be used to record membership details on computer (Access).
Task 5 (P5)
Study the user’s feedback statements taken from the interviews with staff. Select 1 problem that could be solved by using a macro. Assign the macro to an icon on the quick access toolbar and test it is working. Screen print the result of the test. Edit the code inserting your name and purpose of the macro in the comments, screen print this as evidence.
Task 6 (P6)
Create 3 keyboard shortcuts using keys that have not been assigned to action any other commands. Also ensure the commands which you assign a new keyboard shortcut to do not already have a key assigned to them. Use screen prints of all the steps taken as evidence.
Task 7 (M1,M2,D1)
The Express DVD Rentals Management has asked you to evaluate the effect of the software customisations, templates and macros you have produced.
You should produce a document that explains the benefits and limitations of (minimum 300 words – max one page font size 12):
- How your templates meet the user requirements (M1).
- Using macros to aid productivity in the company (M2).
- Software customisation (D1).
