The term Renaissance, describing the period of European history from the early 14th to the late 16th century, is derived from the French word for rebirth, and originally referred to the revival of the values and artistic styles of classical, antiquity during that period. Some of Renaissance composers are William Byrd (1540-1623), Gregorio Allegri (1582-1652), Guillaume Dufay (1400-1474),
Music in the Classical Era
These music left a significant mark in my life, especially during the journey of my adulthood. People come and go creating a mixture of joy, solace, gratitude and finally grief. Sometimes it is best not to dwell the pain but music brings me back to the past and I could still feel the bitterness. Nothing is forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten...

Music in the Baroque Era
The Baroque period started around 1600 and concluded around 1750 and was known as the age of reason. Britain and France were in power at the time. My favourite collection of Baroque composers and their works are Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750 (Mass in B minor BWV 232, Magnificat in D major BWV 243, St John Passion BWV 245) Henry Purcell,1658-1695 (Music for Queen Mary) George Frideric Handel, 1685-1759 (Nisi Dominus, Dixit Dominus, Silete Venti, Messiah, Concerti Grossi Opus 3, DEttinger Te Deum) Antonio Vivaldi, 1678-1741 (Magnificat, Gloria, The Four Seasons). Music which is melodious yet so constructed as to reflect the "perfect order" of the universe: that is the essence of the baroque.
Based on the ideals of Ancient Greece and Rome, the Classical period (1750-1820) stressed the importance of symmetry and form in the arts. In music, the elaborate ornamentation of the Late Baroque period gave way to a new simplicity and elegance. The Classical period has been called the "Golden Age of Music" because it was at this time that the major forms of Classical music--the symphony, concerto, sonata, and string quartet--were fully developed. My favourite classical composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), His Requiem mass in D minor KV626 captivated my heart and soul which spurs me to listen to his other works Mass in C minor K427 and Coronation Mass in C K 317. The opening bars of his Mass in C minor always brings the image of the Choir in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Montreal, beautiful. Other Mozart's symphonies I have in my collections are Symphony No. 40 in G minor K 550, Jupiter Symphony, Symphony No. 25 in G minor. Mozart's opera works in my collections are Le Nozze Di Figaro, The Magic Flute and The Abduction From The Serail K 384.
Lugwig Van Beethovan(1770-1827)is also my favourite composer secondary to Mozart. My collections of his works includes the famous Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Symphony No. 9 'Choral', Piano Concerto No. 5 'Emperor' and choral work Missa SolemnisI started playing the piano at the age of 7 and it has always been my dream to be able to play the Frederic Chopin's (1810-1849)Piano Concerto No.1, the majestic opening of the concerto swept me off. I was a member with the Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra as a flautist from 1992-1996, if I could live my life all over again, I would want to be trained professionally as a musician.
Celtic and New Age Collection
I was first introduced to Celtic Music in May 1997 while working as a temporary officer at the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. I was undergoing my first 'crisis' in adulthood. Thus celtic music has left a special mark in my life since then. From celtic music I embarked on the exploration of New Age music. My favourite New Age artist is Enya. Other New Age artists and groups in my collections include The Clannad,Anuna David Arkenstone, Gregorian - Master of Chant,
