Animal Science is Traumatic
When I tell people I graduated from UC Davis, the inevitable next question is always, "What is your degree in?". When I tell people I have a degree in animal science, the response is almost always the same. I get these horrible stories about how their dog fell out of their truck while they were driving on the freeway, or how their neighbor was abusing their dog, or how someone put a cat on a barbeque. I was talking to this really attractive guy once, and he told me he thought about becoming a veterinarian, but he "can't stand the people who treat their dogs like humans, and think their dogs are better than everyone else's." ?!?!?! My dog IS human, and she is WAYYYYY cuter and smarter than anyone else's dog. Needless to say that was the end of our conversation, and was also a buzzkill for any futher conversations.

FYI TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC: I have a degree in animal science because I LIKE animals. If I liked humans, I would have a degree in human science, or humanities, or whatever. But I don't like humans, I LIKE ANIMALS. And this is why I don't want to hear your disturbing stories about your grandpa's brother's uncle shooting his dog just because a skunk sprayed it. Ok?

Love your writing. When I got to this one I just had to say so. Can relate.
