SHAKESPEARE THE SHAREHOLDER

The end of 1594, when Shakespeare was 30 years old, the company of actors with which he was now working was securely established as the Chamberlain's Men.

The Chamberlain's Men preformed plays by many writers but their special connection with Shakespeare was the first (resident playwright) in London, that is, he was employed to write especially for the company.

SHAKESPEARE, COMPANY PLAYWRIGHT
Shakespeare had the popular comic actor, Will Kemp, in the company, and made the most of his ability to entertain an audience. It is likely that Kemp first played Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The heroines of the comedies are usually very attractive, warm-hearted, quick-witted young women who run rings round the men.
