With the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort returns, like something sticky on the bottom of Harry's shoe. The fourth book in the series is longer and more intricate than any of the others, and barely a kid's book any more. Things are starting to get serious for Harry in this volume, and the hint of sexual awakenings complicates the lives of the young wizards and witches even more. Some of the mysteries set down in the earlier books are resolved here. It's darker by far than the Philosopher's Stone and might well give seven-year-olds nightmares.
