Epiphanies

By an expensive DNA test’s confirmation
of Hesus’ sole bone fragment as truly Hesus’,
she concurs—offers flowers to the hillside

now growing flowers of its own, grass flowers
replacing what a large lighter fluid spark from
a jet engine singed to become ash, become

bouquet to a mass cremation. Hesus (pilot
by profession, swinger by confession) now
dispersed here, dust among the gray and new

grass, smoke, stink, birds, morning dew and,
last, other minute cells with DNA identities
now leaving as gray in the mist to become

light in the east of our epiphanies. Expensive
knowledge by economic standards, as though
it matters how many cigarettes in how many

parties we’ve scorched. Masses to ashes, jet-
setters to dust, confirming souls’ bone-cells.
Forgive. Offer a basket to this hillside ascent.
