In Search of Better Religions

Love, where is it? Fault-finding found it.
Sing this without a church melody.

Love, can it be found? Are you sure you had it?
Solemnly wore it like a Baroque symphony?

Love, forget it. It needs a catchy tune.
Did you see my Sunday choir dress at the cleaner’s?

Love, must I kiss mom? Kiss her, ceremony.
Kiss, then love will hum a fat lady's gospel tune?

Love, lunacy! Will it ever see the stained-glass daylights?
Sing this in the key of Be?

Love. Let’s see. Want to start over?
Did we only launch on our organs off-key?

Love, are you Psalm? Or Song? Or common dizziness—
from a loud banged note on a big Buddhist gong?
