"Faggot"

I object to
the proposition
promoting
a Filipino society
devoid of the
lower class
ignorants’ snickering,
stolen screams heckling
at our
sons and daughters,

calling my son
faggot for his
sculptures,
earrings and all
plus fine face
            privileged,
my daughter "a problem,"
‘cos feminist poet,
called "tomboy!"
or
"rebel!"—that
hair chopped
for unconventional
            wisdom;

. . . the proposition
that we might
educate
the poor, viz.,
"socialize
education—not
keep them
from ‘learning
too much.’ Oh

let them learn
much!" it says,
"leave them
read books,

become sophisticated."
My objection!

Who now may
we buy below
the minimum wage,
to kiss the heels
of our generous
feet w/ every
instruction that
demand long-
unemployed obediences,
loyalties,

Filipino loyalty?
i.e. knuckle-kissing,
goon-virtue
pleasure-service?

That is, truck
cargo men, factory
            laborers,
security personnel,
            errand boys,
singing and laughing
sand-and-gravel
shovelers,
or happy police,
on-duty off-duty
soldiers, other warriors,
ill-trained engineers;
and laundrywomen,
            "PR secretaries," etc.
            if we
educate them
to the hilt?

Leave now them learn
our art? Our
grace and finesse,

or deejaying in English
and stuff, our California
monopoly? Leave

them join our class,
marry our daughters?
our sons marry
            their daughters?
            marry, i.e. wed?
= make poor-brained
            babies? Now
leave them alone with
            their rust machismos,

            anyway,
it’s them who’re
            boot-licking. The
ignorant can’t design a
            corrupted fat bridge,
            or run
guns, all they can own—

gullibility, laughter . . .
