The Older Woman

The Older Woman I gave up my futile New Years resolution of looking good in a bikini by summer. I gave up trying to slim my waistline to my former dimensions. I gave up on trying to read without my glasses, wearing high heels or any kind of shoes that hurt. I gave up on pulling out the gray hairs- or using rinses to color them, or shaving my legs, or plucking my face. I gave up on wearing a girdle or waist-cincher or hair styles that require setting or perming or teasing or spraying. I gave up worrying what other people think or what is chic or what is the right thing to do, or say or think. And I walk with complete freedom past handsome young construction workers without worrying about their lewd invitations and raucous comments on my breasts, my ass, or my walk. I am invisible...and free! Audrey Eisman
