What Is Attunement?

Attunement is a process as old as creation itself, utilizing the laws and principles of that creation. The techniques of attunement as we know them in this era were initially developed by Lloyd Arthur Meeker. Meeker, a practical visionary and founder of the attunement service, began experimenting with early forms of attunement in the late 1920s. He both worked with and taught the technique and its surrounding principles for some twenty-five years.

The main principle of attunement is the One Law of positive action and negative reaction. All life processes operate from this dual expression. A few examples would be: atomic structure; currents of electricity; the male and female components of life forms; and the universal laws of gravitation and motion. A true positive and negative are never contradictory but function rather as two aspects of one thing in complementary balance.

The very words 'human' and 'being' describe how the One Law operates in a basic sense with respect to human beings. The word 'human' describes the outer, or negative, aspect of the person, while 'being' describes the inner, or positive, aspect. Certain attitudes, such as thankfulness and selflessness, maintain a balanced harmony between these two. Others, such as fearfulness and resentment, upset the balance, producing a rift between inner and outer aspects. This sense of separation from the inner Source of life is the beginning of all pain, disease, unhappiness and distress.

In an attunement, the attunement server allows a focus of life current to move through his or her hands in relation to points and areas of contact in the body of the person receiving the attunement. No physical touch is required in this process. The current of attunement typically brings a sense of integration, relaxation and relatedness to the Source of life itself.

Attunements and Health

An attunement server does not seek to heal someone in the limited sense of that word (i.e., to remove specific symptoms). However, since what we describe as health is a state of balanced integration, it is true that the experience of attunement can play a key part in the healing process. The health of the physical body depends in a central way on invisible factors. For example, many diseases are observed to have psychosomatic elements. This is not to say that the disease is just "in someone's head." It may be very well established in the flesh, but its origin may be at a less visible level. Worry, insecurity, resentment and fear are examples of disturbances in a persons atmosphere, which may contribute to a wide variety of illnesses.

The experience of genuine attunement with life addresses the deeper causes of physical and mental distress by establishing a connection, which allows for the filling of inner voids in a person according to that persons response. A sense of peace, of being in place, of being content to be oneself, is typical of the attunement experience. More than an absence of conflict this peace has a radiant quality that may fill the empty spaces, shining from within the person and impacting the world around that person. Many of those who have shared attunements have noted how remarkably healing may occur at all levels when the flow of life is increased and obstructions to its flow diminish.

How May I Effectively Receive An Attunement?

The ability to receive is vitally important to the attunement process. This ability relates to attitude: the direction and intensity of response. For most people, response is scattered in many directions. Letting it come to a fine point in the life current, the attitude of thankfulness is emphasized. Stillness, appreciation, relaxation; these qualities allow for a strong and deep flowing of the attunement current.

The principle of giving and receiving is important at all levels.
