The Guild of Straw Craftsmen

This British based Guild was founded in 1989 with the intention of bringing together straw workers, raising the standards of straw work, both produced and taught, and increasing knowledge about the subject. There are over 100 members including straw workers from overseas.

Our magazine, The Guild News is published twice a year (March and September) and features articles about straw work in Great Britain and around the world.

A business document, The Guild News Update, is issued mid-June, listing Suppliers and Courses.

At the end of September or beginning of October there is a UK Conference.
The venue changes year by year.
Brentwood, Essex is the location for the 2008 Conference.
At the Conference we have guest speakers, workshops, and competitions.

The Guild has its own Awards programme. You can work towards achieving a Craftsman Award (General and/or Specialist Categories),
and for those who like to stretch themselves the Master Craftsman Award in General and/or Specialist Categories is now available.

Annual membership is 13
(1st June 2008 to 31st May 2009).
Overseas members pay extra
to contribute toward postage costs.
Payment must be sent as sterling.

The Guild now has its own website, and if you are planning to visit the UK we strongly recommend that you visit our website first.
