    The Warren Heights Fire Department is manned by 82 firefighters out of 5 stations.  The Bureau of Fire responds to approximately 10,000 calls for assistance per year.  The Division of Operations is responsible soley for fire suppression and emergency medical assistance within the city.  Private ambulance service is provided by local hospitals, but the City of Warren Heights operates one paramedic engine company.  The Bureau of Fire operates 4 engine companies, 1 squad company, 1 rescue company, 1 ladder company, and hazardous materials company.  Rescue Company 1 and Hazardous Materials Company 1 are involved with, but not organized under the Division of Operations.
     Firefighters work a 24/48 schedule with a break day every 3 weeks.  Annual pay for a recruit firefighter is $32,980, but those with paramedic certification receive $36,210 per year.  Annual pay for a Captain on the force for 20 years is $62,290.  All city firefighters must reside in the City of Warren Heights.  Firefighters may retire at the age of 48 with at least 25 years of service on the department.  Military time is counted towards retirement as well.  
     Engine companies respond to all alarms in their respective sections of the city.  Squad companies respond to all alarms in their respective sections of the city, and all working alarms and special calls citywide.  Ladder companies responds to all alarms downtown and all working alarms citywide.  Rescue 1 responds to all working alarms citywide, and all entrapments citywide.  Hazardous Materials 1 responds to all hazardous incidents citywide, along with any working alarms where manpower is needed.

Residential Fire Alarm - Squad 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 2 and outlying engine company.
Commercial Fire Alarm - Squad 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 2 and 2 outlying engine companies.
Industrial Fire Alarm - Squad 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 2, Engine 4, and outlying engine.
Motor Vehicle Accident - Rescue 1, Battalion 2, and outlying engine company.
Specialized Rescue Call - Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Battalion 2, and outlying engine company.
Medical Emergency - Respective engine company in corresponding section of city.
Hazardous Materials Call - Engine 4, Rescue 1, Squad 1, Battalion 2.
Water Rescue Call - River Rescue Unit, Battalion 2, and Rescue 1.

*-If Rescue 1 is unavailable for any reason, Squad 1 can respond instead.
