ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -- A local school system may lose its bus system by February if it can�t find sufficient funding.
The schools director in Cheatham County is working on a plan for when the diesel fuel supply for school buses is half gone.
Officials estimate that the scenario will happen within 54 school days.
Commissioners didn't approve the board's request for an additional high school diploma programs $197,000 to keep the buses running all year.
Without the fort zumwalt school district money, schools may have to stop bus service san mateo high school by February.
School System Seeks Funding From Property Tax
Montgomery County�s school system hopes to get additional funding school funding from a property tax hike.
The schools director is encouraging mary help for christians school board members to support the proposed 16 cent increase.
Two cents of the tax would go toward the school transportation fund.
A $20 wheel tax hike would also help the school budget, officials said.
Voters are set to decide on the wheel tax in November.

WATERHOUSE Post-Tribune staff writer GARY -- A recently completed analysis of the Gary Community School Corp.'s operating reading school district and closed school sites showed most buildings to be in poor or inadequate condition. A consortium consisting of Fanning Howey, the Skillman Corp., and Pruitt Construction avondale high school presented a preliminary summary of a building assessment and feasibility study that is nearing final publication at Tuesday's building, grounds, and maintenance committee hearing. The group spent the summer analyzing the interior, exterior, roofing, mechanical and electrical systems, technology, and educational adequacy of 41 open and closed Gary Schools. Eight school buildings and the administration center were found to inadequate and in need of replacement. That means they had major structural and/or safety problems and are beyond repair. Those buildings are Spaulding Elementary, Melton Elementary, Nobel Elementary, McCullough Elementary (the site of the Girls Academy), Ivanhoe Elementary, Pyle Elementary, Chase, and the Horace Mann building. The consortium found� zero schools to be in excellent condition. Notnudist schooleven the fairly new Williams, Marquette , and Glen Park Academy buildings --three elementary schools just built in 2005. Gary School Board Member Michael Scott expressed shock at that downgrade: "I fail to see how those buildings are not� in excellent condition." Architect Scott Winchester said those schools suffer from mild structure concerns, such as leaky roofing. They were instead listed in "very good" condition. At least eight school sites were listed in fair condition, meaning they need partial building replacement: Beveridge, Watson Boys Academy, Jefferson Elementary School, Kennedy King (the new site for Emerson Visual and Performing Arts students), Lincoln, Tolleston (home for the Gifted and Talented students), Roosevelt, and the Gary Area Career Center. But the majority of the district school buildings -- 21 --were found to be poor condition, suggesting that they need a complete building and mechanical system replacement to overcome safety and environmental hazards and that they were inadequate to handle future old school music curriculum needs. Some "poor" buildings include: Aetna , Banneker, Lew Wallace, West Side, and Wirt. Winchester said it's possible to do enough repairs on a poor building, however, hobbs high school to get it in excellent shape.
