Aeris is one of the most mysterious female characters of Final Fantasy VII. Cloud first meets Aeris in a street after aiding AVALANCHE in the destruction of the sector 2, Mako reactor. She asks him to buy a flower from her, then he runs off to encounter SHINRA soldiers and jump abourd the train. After a bridge collapses in a another seige of a Mako reactor, with AVALANCHE that did not prove to be as uneventful as the last, he meets her again. Her garden atop an abandoned church breaks Clouds fall and he crashes through the roof onto the floor below. When he awakens he is approached by Aeris.
