What makes Final Fantasy VIII's battle system stand out above the rest is the use of Junctioning of Guardian Force and characters. Similar to materia, junctioning works hand in hand with guardian force and allows for increased character ability and deversification of availiable tactics. Junctioning enables the "Draw" command where a character can "draw" certain abilities, spells, and guardian forces from enemies. This is similar to "Enemy Skill" materia from FF7, that would add more spells to it's listing as certain spells were cast upon a character by enemies. The Draw Command allows you to extract the spell directly from the enemy without it casting it on your character or needing to manipulate the the enemy, to get the spell. The Spell can be stocked or cast immediately. Junctioning enables the development of character HP, strength, or magic ability.
