"Come on, hon, turn down the music! I think I'm about to go deaf." Samantha said, impatiently to her husband, Ian.
"Oh, I didn't know it was bothering you." Ian replied, reaching for the knob, even though she had repeated those words several times before. "We're on vacation in Miami Beach! You should relax a bit, you're all tense."
"I know. I just feel like something's not right. You know that I've always had a sixth sense about this sort of thing. I hope nothing bad will happen this time." she replied, staring out of the car window.
"Don't worry, dear," he said, reassuringly. "Nothing's going to happen."
"Your a Congressman," she smirked. "And the twin brother of the President. I think you might have something to be worried about..."
"Which is exactly why I'd be the first to know if anything suspicious is happening. We're almost to the hotel, anyway. By the way, is there any more coffee left?" Suddenly, Ian's cellular phone rang, which caused Samantha jump. "It's just the phone, honey!" he laughed as he picked it up. "Mr. Mulligan speaking."
"Oh, thank gosh we reached you this quickly!" the voice on the other line said.
"Hey, I thought nobody had this number!" he interrupted. "Who's this?"
"No time for chitchat, Mr. Mulligan. This is the Secretary of Defense."
"Oh. Sorry, Sir. I didn't know..."
"Listen up. I know that this may sound hard to believe, but listen up. There are four huge, unidentified... monsters headed your way, that is, toward Miami Beach. You are the first one to hear this, outside of Washington. There will probably be some sort of limited announcement on the radio about it in about twenty minutes, or so. You should turn your car around right now, and without any hesitation. We need to maintain a full, working government. These things could mean trouble..."
"What?!?! Huge monsters attacking? This sounds a little too good to be true, Mr. Secretary."
"Listen! They were planning on not depriving you of the full story, but I insisted to tell you. Now, show me that I made the right choice and turn around!" The line went dead.
"I just can't believe it!" he said to himself. "Either he's right, or this is on heck of a prank!"
"What is it, dear?"
"Never mind. It's... it's not important." Ian answered. But, stubbornly, he continued to drive to his destination, not wanting to ruin his vacation.
Twenty minutes later, Ian began to have some problems with the radio. Just as an announcement was starting to air, all that they could heard was static. "I wonder what's happening." He said to the air, now going over the possibility that the Secretary of Defense was right. "What the?!?" He suddenly yelled, for what he saw but a half a mile away in the ocean were four huge monstrous beasts heading toward the beach! The Secretary was right! Somehow, this was true!
People in their cars on the streets began to get out to watch this rare spectacle , blocking the traffic. They were now close enough to be identified. One of the huge beasts was treading in the shallow water near them. It was white with huge, bulky arms and legs, not to mention shoulders that were bulged out to half the length of its arms spread out! Another one was right behind it. At first it was submerged, but then it came out of the water and started to skim across it. It was green and looked quite similar to the white one, except it did not have any legs. Another, a red one with extremely long arms, with three huge fingers on each, was right beside the green one, treading the water. Finally, the most magnificent-looking of all, a black one with wings and the face of a serpent, was flying above the rest. What was similar about all four of them was a huge stone in the middle of the chest, each a different color: red for red, white for white and green for green, except the black one had a center with a red, white, and green stone in it.
For a moment, everyone was standing there, shocked as can be, staring at them. Then, finally, someone got the sense to start driving away. Everyone began to follow, with Ian a while after, and the pedestrians running, until an entire stampede had begun. Everyone was screaming in terror, trying to push and shove their way out as fast as they could to escape. Many people probably died from that alone.
"I knew it, I knew it. I could have listened to him but NO! I had to be stubborn and get on with my 'vacation'!" Samantha was too terrified to speak. Ian turned around and began to drive away as fast as he could. But suddenly, the monsters stopped on the beach. The flying one landed and they each lined up in a row. Ian was still confused, but still driving the car away. Then, the four beasts opened up their large mouths...
"I told you something was wrong!" Samantha finally spit out. A very bright light then shone from the mouths of the monsters. Then, one by one, huge rays of fire came out, frying everything in sight. People on the street were suddenly stopped and burnt to a crisp right before everyone's eyes. The men, women, and children in their cars were obliterated, with no sign of the vehicles they were riding in. Then, Ian was horror stricken, as the fire was drawing nearer and nearer to them. His heart was racing, knowing he couldn't get away in time. He had to do something, and he had to do it fast...
