[email protected] Says: Yes, i do beleive that aliens exist. I think this because it makes sense that
of all the infinite, neverending space in the universe, there has to be
planets, places, or dimensions that are beyond our knowledge or
comprehension. even though studies have proved that all of the planets they
have studied have conditions that make them unfit for humans to live in,
aliens, or extraterrestriels, might have adapted to live there. and right
now, i bet they're unsure about if there are other life forms besides
themselves in the galaxy. also, in my opinion, there is much evidence that
supports my opinion. i have seen and heard many stories about abductions of
sightings. for instance, about a year ago, on the discovery channel they had
a show about aliens. during the course of that show, there was a story about
a cop that was patrollin when all of a sudden, he saw "a giant, saucer shaped
object" in the sky. he then went on to say that after that, all electrical
equipment in the immidiate area, such as his radio, car, lights, flashlight,
etc. suddenly shut down and would turn back on. they eventually did, but
after that object which he say (more than likely a UFO) totally disappeared
from sight. There was also one more thing in the show that caught my
attention. It involved hypnosis, which you probably know much about. so
this is what happened- some scientists gathered people who claimed to be
victims of abductions and hypnotized them. during the hypnosis, they
obssessed over the abduction, telling what happened and how, and often
reinacting what happened. and one of the people that was used for that
recalled that when he was abducted, the aliens planted what he called "a
glass-like object" in his leg. After he told this to the scientists, they
operated on his leg in order to remove that object. They ended up removing
it and took it into study. to the extent of my knowledge, they sitll haven't
identified it. I hope that this information has expressed my opinion well
and i hope that you will read it. Thank you for your time.
"A Concerned Christian" Says: I really don't like people wasting their time talking about aliens and UFO's when we could all be reading the Bible and growing closer to God and our savior Jesus Christ. There are no such thing as aliens. The Bible says that God made us in His image, no one elses. All these abductions are actually Demons and Satan trying to confuse people from the word. If we have faith in God and quit going into space he will provide for all our needs. If God wanted for us to be in space he would have put us there. He didn't so that's my point right there. If you don't have faith in God you will face jugement and will not be allowed in heaven. Jesus died on the cross for your sins Video Gamer X so that you could be saved, and you desecrate his sacrifice with this site, this blasphemy. People don't want to learn about science when God and the Bible provide all of His answers. If you just have faith in him he will guide you. God is always right, the Bible is always right, it's us humans that must be humble and accept the word into our hearts. Scientists are part of the devil and his tricks to keeps us away from the path to our Lord. They say that there are other planets out there, and I think they are lying, trying to get more money for themselves. God made man in His Image and there are no ET's, that's the TRUTH, and the only truth. I will pray for you Video Gamer X.
Video Gamer X Says: Do I need to comment on this or does this guy's/girl's gross intellectual ineptitude and blatant indoctrination speak for itself? I think so. You guys are going to have a tough time shoving this stuff down people's throats in a year like 2230 when we are living, working, and exploring space. Right now a majority of the world's populace is ignorant of science and rational information so individuals like this one have managed to proliferate their close-minded regurgitated dogma to a large portion of this planet's impressionable mental pawns. Sorry, but this stuff doesn't wash with me. You are entitled to your opinion, but DO NOT attempt to force it on me as being the ONLY truth. I'm a nice guy, not necessarily inclined to outbursts like this but really, when faced with absolute ignorance, I get a little steamed.
Aaron Harrington Says: Video Gamer X, Yes I do believe that there are other life forms somewhere in the universe. Whether they've actually visited Earth or not is another question entirely. But it is, in my opinion, almost obvious that there is some form of life in the universe, intelligent or not. Think about it. Our solar system is just one of billions, if not more, in the Milky Way Galaxy. And the Milky Way is just one of the billions of Galaxies in the universe. Now, the possibility that we, human beings, and planet Earth are the only life forms in this entire void of planets, stars, nebulas, quasars, and galaxies, then, (to quote Jodi Foster from the movie Contact) "It'd be an awful waste of space." Now keep in mind I'm only talking about the 4th dimension of our space-time continuum. Who knows what's our there on a higher dimensional, or lower dimensional plain. Imagine a 5-D, 6-D, or 7-D plain of existence. Who knows what wonders are out there. The idea that we were meant to stay on this Earth and not explore the outer reaches of space and the limits of our imagination is just ridiculous. As for "A Concerned Christian" I wish you would have put him/her in his/her place. The idea that someone can be
so closed minded to think that their way of thinking is the "TRUTH, and the only truth" is nothing more than prejudice. As for their opinions toward science and technology, It sounds to me like that person is living in the Dark Ages. I would just like to say WAKE UP!!! Science is fact, not fiction, and people do want to learn about it. Some of the first planets were discovered in the 1500's by Galileo, I believe. I, in fact plan to study it in college. And, he/she must realize that Jesus Christ is not everyone's savior. To a lot of people, like one of my friends, who is Hindu, Jesus is not part of his religion. To Muslims, he was merely a prophet. And to Jews, like me, he was not recognized to be a prophet, nor a savior, just another Jew. This person must learn to respect the beliefs of others because he/she will have a very difficult time in life because of his/her ignorance. It is sad when some people are so closed minded they can't even accept the world for what it is around them.
Grant Butler Says: I'm sorry but in my personal opinion ,which I must admit is basically irrelevant, you would have to be incredibly short sighted to say there are no aliens, there is a almost infinite amout of universe so the odds of there not being other civilizations out there are inconciveable all of this god stuff is just something created by people afraid of death to alleviate their fears.
Thomas says:
Dear Videogamer X, someone said that there are no aliens because God created us in his own image. I have an argument to that and i hope i dont get in too much trouble with Our Lord for saying this. I do believe in God and aliens. Im 15 and i tend to think alot about nothing so I believe God may have created a couple worlds like our earth with many beings crafted in his image who follow his same bible. Whos to say God wouldnt of done this? If you believe in God, wouldnt it be possible that he created an "earth 2" with the same reasons he made this one? with the same humans? with the same atmospheric conditions? well...thats just how i think anyway. Bye, keep up the great sites!
Nicholas Longstaff Says: Video Gamer X, at 13 I am very interested in Science, Science
Fiction, government conspiracies (they're all out to get me) and the
paranormal (i.e.. Psychics, haunting, abductions). I do believe that
there are other life forms within the vast reaches of the universe, but
because most people who have visited your sight have stated their belief
in aliens, I'm going to play the devils advocate.
To start out I want to make a reference to the book Sphere by Michael
Chrichton. In it, Chrichton (who is well know for the scientific
accuracy of his novels) makes a reference to the 'Drake Equation.' When
simplified this equation essentially states that when one considers all
of the various requirements for extra terrestrial life it is highly
unlikely we will ever encounter any such beings.
First there is the chance that a given star will have planets, then the
probability that these planets will be able to support life, followed by
the probability that life will evolve on this planet, along with the
probability that this life will be sophisticated. Then there is the
probability that if the life becomes sophisticated that it will become
intelligent and the chance that the intelligent life will advance
technologically. Finally there is the probability that this will all
happen within the same galaxy as us and within the same five billion
years as we evolve.
Also, within forty light years of Sol (our solar system) there is
only one star that is of the same type as our own (our star is a G2V),
this star is Rigil Kentaurus A (which is in the Alpha Centauri system
and is about 4.35 light years from us). However, while our sun is a
single sun completely on its own Rigil Kentaurus A shares the Alpha
Centauri system with Rigil Kentaurus B (a K0V star) and Proxima Centauri
(an M5.5V).
The only other star that I know of which is a G type within 40 light
years of Sol is Tau Ceti (a G8VP class star about 5.75 light years from
Sol). Even if faster than light travel is possible and can be
accomplished, and even if either of these G stars support planets that
are similar to earth, what are the chances that there will be life forms
on these planets.
However, this is all based on an arbitrary assumption on my part that
a planet analogous to Earth requires a G2V star, or that life requires a
planet analogues to Earth. Indeed, it is very possible that life could
exist in space, on asteroids or gas giants, even within stars or in
other planes of existence (I refer not only to the other dimensions, but
to alternate universes).
However, what is the chance that this life will evolve at all, let
alone close to us and in the same general time period as us? We seem to
keep coming back to this question.
Here's a final question, if we encounter aliens they will probably be
so bizarre and different compared to us that communication will be
difficult at best (mathematics may make the technical aspects of
communication possible, a la contact, but would we share any emotions or
empathy with these beings?).
Many scientists believe that dolphins and Wales may are highly
intelligent creatures, possibly capable of communication and self
awareness (sentience), however despite this scientists agree it would be
very hard to communicate with Wales or dolphin's because they live in
such a different environment.
Now compare a Dolphin or Whale (fellow mammals) to an ET. Compared to
such a being, any mammal would seem to be very closely linked, yet we
may never be able to accomplish proper communications with other types
of mammals. If we have such trouble communicating with other life forms
of this planet, how will we ever communicate with ET's?
If we ever encounter ET's I think that we should be prepared to
either accept that we may not be able to communicate with them properly,
and therefore leave them alone and make sure they do the same to us, or
accept that we may end up in armed conflict with these beings. I do not
believe the start trek vision of aliens (with all due respect to Gene
Rodenbary, aliens in star trek are little more than men with funny nose
ridges). While I can accept that we might be able to live peacefully
with aliens, I think that there are other options which are just as
likely.
