THE "LINK TO THE PAST" CHALLENGE
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is an excellent game, however some say that it isn't too challenging at times, that they've mastered this old Super Nintendo Classic, but have you really mastered it? There is one ultimate challenge that I wonder if anyone can meet. Here it is:
Update: Last night I started to try this to see how far I would get before I was wasted and discovered that the game forces you to take the Heart Container after every boss battle before it will let you have the pendant or crystal. I defeated the Armos Knights in the Light Palace and then a heart container appeared, however the pendant didn't drop from the ceiling until I took the Heart Container. Bummer. However the Challenge does not have to be put to rest, rather I still think that only getting the heart containers from the bosses (The ones you have no choice but to take), not tempering the sword, getting no tunics, and no doubled magic bar, and no bottles, in itself would be a worthy challenge, so that is the NEW challenge.
These are the Heart Containers you must get:
Light Palace:
Desert Palace
Tower of Hera
Palace of Darkness
Swamp Palace
Skull Woods,
Blind's Dungeon
Ice Palace
Misery Mire
Turtle Rock
That would mean you would have a total of 3 + 10 containers, or 13 in total. This challenge is only slightly less difficult than the last one, because now you can not use any bottles and all the other requirments stand, no tempered sword, no tunics, no double magic bar, only 13 hearts. There is no fairy insurance. Good Luck!
Here's the rest of the challange as originally worded.
Complete the Entire Game without getting a single Heart Container or Heart Container Piece, so that you only have 3 Hearts at the end of the game and... (Skip: See Above!)
No Blue or Red Tunics and...
No Tempered or Upgraded Master Sword, it must be blue and....
No doubled Magic Bar and the biggest challenge...
0 DEATHS on Completion of the Game.
Theoretically this is possible, and I do say theoretically.
Anyone who does this is pretty much the 1337est player I can ever think of. I am thinking of giving this a try because I'm pretty good at LTTP, but this sort of thing is for the best of the best. Now here are the rules to prove that you accomplished this:
1. It must be done with a Super Nintendo and a TV, not an Emulator.
2. You must show the following images as proof.
a. Just the TV and the Super Nintendo hooked up with the game cartridge inserted and it being played on the screen, 3 separate images from 3 angles.
b. A clear image of your equipment screen proving that you have just the blue colored untempered master sword, and no extra tunics, and no bottles.
c. A clear image showing the gameplay screen with the magic bar missing the 1/2, and only 13 hearts, at the end of the game just before Ganon, where he has broken through the pyramid and there is the hole there.
d. A clear image of the credits of the game showing all the dungeons with 000, meaning 0 Deaths.
3. If the images are taken with a digital camera they must be completely uncompressed or altered in anyway with the camera's default file name to qualify. if the file name has been changed you will be Disqualified.
You know if you do this, you will be a legendary player of this game, and I will devote an entire page to your accomplishment there will be some other prize as well awarded to the winner. Good Luck!
