There was once a time long ago when there was no Zelda. Kids everywhere hoped for that day when they could pick up a sword and become a Legendary Knight like Lancelot or King Arthur. Time passed, and those kids grew up and had their own children. We are the generation who has seen the creation of a new medium of entertainment that took those images and experiences from our collective imagination and made them real. With the unvieling of Zelda, that day of satisfaction finally came. The Nintendo ushered in the beginning of an era where Video Games proliferated, and many homes experienced the Adventure and fun of playing Zelda. This section marks the third instalment of very popular "Fond Zelda Memories" Now is the time for us to bring the past alive upon these pages.

Michele Remembers: Hi, my names Michele and Im 11 years old. I have 3 of the Zelda games...A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Link's Awakening. I only play Zelda 64 because thats the best game I've ever played. I love it so much my friends start calling me Princess Zelda and sometimes i even act like her. I also started writing a book called the Adventures of Link and I'm on chapter 11...

I always have dreams that I am on a quest with Link and it is our job to save the Triforce, Zelda, and the legendary kingdom of Hyrule.

That one name still stands in my head....Zelda.... I hope Nintendo comes out wit a The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time the movie.....

Carlos Remembers: HI, my name is Carlos, and I love all the Zelda games. I'm 12 years old and when I first played I was 7 years old. When I first got a Zelda game I was very happy. Me and my brother have become major Zelda fans. I can draw Link very well and so can my brother. I will always be a Zelda fan, along with my brother.

CyBeRBoWsR Remembers: I remember when I first played Zelda on the NES, was the music. I got it stuck in my head and every time I would play it, I would hum the Classic Hyrule Theme. I was never really Zelda fan and I never had any games until Ocarina of Time came out. I would either play the games at friends houses or not know they existed. Now I am trying to find the cheapest price for A Link to the Past for SNES.

Jonathan Remembers: My name is Jonathan.I was about 8 or so.We just got a NES(even though it had been out a few years). We went to a pawn shop for games. The had 2 left.Ghost Busters and Zelda 1.At the time me and my brother were really in to Ghost Busters, but the was something about zelda that made me pick it.I got home and played it all night, till about 1:00 am.I finlly beat the game with my cousins help about a year later. When we beat it I saw something else in his game rack.Zelda 2. WOW!When did that come out!I have to have!My mom chose mickey mousecapades, but I got it from him later that day.A few years later,we get a SNES, the that comes with it,Zelda:A link to the Past.I still play the game to this day!At that time, a girl i liked had the game,so that gave me an excuse to go to her house. Now I am 14, and what should be out but Zelda 64.I couldnt belive it!after all those years its here!It was so cool.I went to the store to buy it,they were sold out everywhere.Untill we can to one store, there were nine on the shelfs.I asked the worker there if they had any, they had 1 gold catrage somebody who pre-ordered forgot to pick up!I have played that game and will continue to play that game for as long as they mak'em.Zelda is like a part of me. Its like its me up there.I hope the new one comes out soon.

Gregg Remembers: I'm Gregg, and I'm 12. My first memory of Zelda is when i got the very first game. I was too young to ever beat it. But one day a few years back I wanted to beat it. But I found out my grandfather had send it off to my half-sister. I called her and asked if she played it much, of course she, her husband, and her daughter did. I couldn't ask for it back. So to this day i haven't beaten it. Then i got the second one. I beat that one. Then I got A Link to the Past, which was my favorite one. I have my fondest memories of spending most of my time beating it. I eventually beat that one too, i was soooo happy. And then, of course, i got Link's Awakening. I loved it. I kept playing and playing. I used the SUper Gameboy most of the time. But one time i had the game out of the machine too long and some dust got into it and erased my game. For those of you who have played the game i was just about to the Eagle. I was sooo pissed. I never tried again. Then some time passed. And i got a Phillips CD-i for Christmas and played the two Zelda games for it. I never could beat those two because i didn't have the right kind of controller for it. Then after God only knows how long a time of waiting I got Zelda64! I kept playing until i got to the last Medallion. I was soooo happy when i got sick (not bad enough to not be able to play, just not go to school). I was sick for a week. But i could still lay on the couch playing. I beat the game that week. Then a week or so ago, I got my mom a Color Gameboy, and Link's Awakening DX for MOther's Day (she likes video games hehehe) And i am still playing it. I just beat the spot that it was erased the first time. Ahhh memories.

Andrew Remembers: I remember having a old nintendo hooked up and watching my mother play the old Zelda then I remember seeing Zelda2 at a tag sale for 5 dollars and buying it and going home and playing it for hours. I still cannot figure that one out. Anyway I still have that old Nes and those games after I tried Zelda I loved Nes games I have a whole bin full of old nes games that a lent out to some friends of mine that have 6 computers but only a Nes. Another great game was Bubble Bobble (Still one of the best Nes games!) Then I remember getting Nes. (I had a fever at the time) I played Super Mario World (Still one of the best Snes games) for hours upon hours until I beat Bowser. Now about this time every Saturday morning there was cartoon about gameboy, link, mario and some kid. I don't remember very clearly I only remember how funny the game boy looked with a face. Then the Zelda cartoons in which Link tries to kiss Zelda and the fairy gets in then way. ( still have one or two tapes somewhere in this house....). Then I got gameboy beat Mario a couple times. Then got Zelda and played that for hours and hours....(Went through quite a couple packs of batteries)Then got 64 and of course played Mario. Then other 64 games. Then got Game Boy Pocket and Pokmon Blue and red (Still good RPGS) Then reserved Zelda 64 (poor me didn't have enough money in time to reserve gold..) Then got it the day it was in stores here. Then I played and played played and played only stopping for school and food. Finally I beat it. I was almost crying I was so sad that no more game was left. Then I got Game Boy Color and soon after got Zelda DX and started on that sadly though I am stuck on the seventh dungeon (the eagle tower ya know the one where you have to throw the ball at the pillars) I am sort of a crossbreed of a Pokmon Freak and Mario Fan and true Zelda Lover. I remember the Mario cartoons believe it or not they are still on. On Saturdays or was it Sundays on some channel (Maybe TBS , Family Channel or USA) very early in the morning there are Mario catoons with Yoshi. There are also some older ones with the koopas and bowser where he flies around his kind of flying pirate ship. They are not the kind of cartoons for me but they sure bring back memories of younger days when I didn't have to think so much and life was carefree. Of course during this time I was also a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.I had one two three and sonic and knuckles. I used to play with a friend and we would hook 3 on sonic and knuckles and try to beat them both. One of us would be Sonic while the other was tails. We could never beat Dr. Robotnik or something in the end of Sonic and Knuckles when he has this really big crystal. And then you hurt him and starts to fly away. Then stones fall. I was about to kill him when a rock hit me boom death. Later in a guide book I saw I found out what happens after that something about a doomsday device. I see myself as a true gamer. I only go outside when I have to or sometimes when my gameboy has full batteries. I play just about eveyr game. A true gamer, Andrew

Chucky Remembers: Dear Video Gamer X, my name is Chucky and I am 13. I have played every single Zelda game, but I own only two, Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening. I can remember when I was 2 or 3 playing Zelda 1 with my cousin Kristy at her house. Then it was Zelda 2, I forget where I played it at but I know I did. Then I think it was in '94, I was over my mother's friend's house and the eldest of my mom's friend's three children was playing A Link to the Past. I asked him if I could play next and he agreed. I was totally amazed by this game , because by then I had forgotten about Zelda with it being five years since playing a Zelda game and the TV show had been long since gone.I then forgot about Zelda again. But when N64 came out (of course I got it right after) news of Zelda 64 came following I was delighted. I calmed down though. But after it was released, I begged my mom to get it . I told her I needed to remember my childhood.Christmas came and I opened a package to discover a gold cart of Z64 plus a Versus Books guide PLUS a Zelda T-shirt.The day after new years I went out and bought Link's Awakening DX. As of this day 6/6/99 I have beaten Ocarina of Time and going for a second, and I am up to the last dungeon of Link's Awakening.

GAcree Remembers: A great memory I have is when I was...Hmm, abour 7 or 8. I knew this kid John, he was about 16 and he played and played Zelda: A Link to The Past. I wathched him and thought, wow he is incredible at this game. I didn't own a Super NES at the time, but I got one soon, and about 2 years after I got it, I got Zelda. My God I though it was the BEST game EVER!!! I beat the game in a few months, see I was new to the SNES. I moved up to better systems, and now I own a PSX and N64, and own Zelda 64! I have beaten that game also. Just wanted to share my memory with you :o)

Matt Remembers: My name is Matt and I'm 15

Some of my earliest memories of gaming are playing Zelda and Mega Man. Having beaten both Zelda AND Mega Man by the age of four, I consider myself an adequete gamer. Those are the 2 games I grew up on and I have always liked them. Another one was breakthrough. I beat that game many times and still continued to play.

Here I am today with my SNES, and N64(not to mention game boy), and my unfortunately retired NES system. God, how I wish it still worked. I still like the first Zelda the bast. It was much more challenging and it made more of an impact on my life. I think that as technology increases, we lose sight of the more intimate part of a game that makes you want to play it even though there are new and better games out. Don't get me wrong, I still like Zelda, and this most recent release lacked no emotion or intimate detail, but other games have forgotten. And what of Mega Man? It was always on Nintendo. Now where is it? Capcom must come forth and fill this empty void. What is a Nintendo system without all its classics? No other company can make that game like capcom can, and Nintendo needs them back.

The Zelda series has to be the most sustaining, no matter what. Every time, it just gets right to you and sucks you in. It doesn't need a Triforce to do that, and quite frankly, I could care less about getting that. The real point in Zelda is getting rid of Gannon and saving Zelda. It seems like we've become mongrels searching for glitches and what not to get strange things in this game. True, they are fun, but can't we be satisfied with what Miyamoto has given us? It is a wotk of art and should be cherished, not ripped to shreds.

I recently had (felt the need) to get an NES emulator so I could experience the great feeling of playing such a meaningful game. I've forgotten so much, but I don't care. It's a lot more fun to just go along without knowing what's going to happen next. I also got Zelda II and boy, what a surprise! So many familiar names everywhere. It is really a great game, but a little confusing. It is so different from the first. I can't wait to get far into it.

I also got Earthbound Zero, or Mother as its Japanese equivalent is called. It is a prequel to the great SNES Earthbound. I love both of those games. Earthbound Zero is strikingly familiar to it's follow-up, and that makes them both so interchangeable. I really hope that N64 comes out with Earthbound before the system is forgotten. It seems like there never will be a disk drive, which was apparently Earthbounds only hope of being released.

Anyone who has SNES and Zelda, they should try out Earthbound. It isn't quite as good as Super Mario RPG, but it holds so much more meaning. These are all great games that for some reason or another I connect to Zelda. They are just implanted in my mind. I love all these games and feel that anyone that can should play them and enjoy the fun they provide. It is horrible when a legacy dies, and I hope that none of these die for a very long time so everyone can feel the fulfillment that they provide.

Vanessa Remembers: My name is Vanessa and I am 15 years old. I remember Zelda for a long time, ever since I used to live in Switzerland and we couldn't understand what anything said because it was all english and we speaked Italian so we took longer to finish it. I was six and my dad would play Zelda for hours and I would watch him.He would tell my mom all the secrets he found like she cared. I remember him telling me that there is actually the land of hyrule and I would tell all my friends that I would live in Hyrule when I grew up but we all know that place doesn't excist. He played the first, second and third one, but he didn't get a chance to play Link's Awakening because we don't have a gameboy. But know he let me and my brother finish the Zelda 64 . I remember me and my friends playing some caracters from the game and I hated it when I got picked as ganon. I also remember my brother and I fighting for the triforce since we believed my dad's story, and whoever gets the triforce first gets the first wish. Those were the best days...

Jared Remembers: Since I could remember I would play video games. And of course my all-time favorite would be any Zelda, shape or system. Any true Zelda game created by the pros would entrance me, and I loved it. I always knew about the originals, but I was too young then to appreciate them. That was when my best friend came along, and introduced me to A Link to the Past. That is the all-time best video game ever created, and I believe just barely beats the Ocarina of Time (just barely). After I found my destiny, I devoted my life to video games. Although I have changed, a lot, over the years, I will still play the games. I worked extra hard in school to earn money from my parents and then buy video games, and if I could do it all again, I would do the same thing. I'm glad someone like Video Gamer X decided to devote his time to all the enshrouded video gamers for the better of times and to get along with each other. After I recieved free web space, I decided to dedicate all of it to Zelda, and I am working to fulfill that. I remember on the day before Ocarina of Time came out, I was up till around 2:30 a.m. working on a school project, and I secretly encrypted the time and day on that project. Zelda, although made to be thought as just a game, a simple time passer, is a lot more to me, and many more people. The true Zelda gamers now have taken the depth and feeling from their Zelda experiences. As I recall the news that there may or may not be new Zeldas, or at least without Shiguro Miyamoto, I feel partially abandoned and betrayed. And finally as I await for September, the supposed release date for the Zelda edition, I hope it will contain the same Zelda truth as the others. My dearest thanks to Video Gamer X for his time and devotion.

Stephanie Remembers: I hear one word: 'Zelda'. That word sends shivers up my spine and so many thoughts flowing through my head.... Way,Way back,I was only around 2.My elder brother was 10.It was Christmas.I was playing with a new cuddly(Which is very old by now) and my elder(Alix) was inserting some new game into the Nintendo.I curiously watched him and was soon taken to bed.=).Next day,Alix was showing me how to use the Nintendo. Ironically, he used Zelda. I tapped at buttons and screamed as I was hit by Octoroks. I eventually got the hang of it,but really couldn't get past that first stage.More years passed, and we bought the Game Boy.(No,We didn't ever get AoL!=*( ) I think Alix may have got LA,but i was never allowed play it,and its gone now (So is LoZ! WHERE ARE THEY????) The SNES came.Although,I still had fond memories of that game Alix had let me play,I was caught up in DKC1,2,& 3. April 8th. My Birthday. My 9th Birthday.(I think)I ripped open the large package and looked inside. An N64!!!I shrieked in delight kissed my parents nad set up the N64.I played all the games out and was eager for more.On day,My mom brought home a N64 magazine.I read it carefully, and something caught my eye.Zelda???That word sounded familar...Yes,it was the first game I ever played.I yelped in delight and prayed...

A year later...

I awoke Christmas morning and ran into the hall.Tons of presents were stacked...but the smallest of them all lay on another box.Peeking at it,my heart skipped a beat.ZELDA 64!!!!!!! I inserted into my N64 and began to play. When I left my room, after playing,I realized I stunk and had no more friends. Only one thing lives in my mind right now. And that is...

Zelda

Mark Remembers: i remember being a little kid, probably about five or six, and going to one of my friend's house and playing the original zelda and zelda 2. i really sucked actually, i didn't really get the game, so i ended up just wondering around. i never even played a link to the past, having a genesis rather than a super nintendo. then one day my friend aaron told me about a zelda 64. at first i thought little of it, but i soon realized that it would finally be my chance to beat a zelda game. so last christmas, i asked for it and got it. the only problem was that i had to go on vacation, so it was like a week after christmas when i finally got to play, and my friends were all way ahead of me, so it was kind of a driving force for me to get caught up. i remember having a feeling of extreme exhilleration as the deku tree first sent for me, and my quest was underway. i was so fricking excited the first time i pulled the master sword out of it's pedistal. a month or so later, i finally beat it, i honestly cried at the end when it showed the still picture of zelda and kid link. every time i think about it now i get all sentimental. i've beaten the game several times since then, but i still have the original saved, with all twenty hearts, all the arrows, and most of the skulltullas (i really should go get all of them huh?) but it's never the same feeling when lift up the master sword, or when i see zelda at the end. my new quest is to beat the old zelda games, and when any new encarnation of zelda comes out, to beat it too. i shall never again be a zelda loser.

Anonymous Remembers: i still remember when i got the original zelda. i have zelda 1, 2, played 3, 4, and 5. i'm crazed on it. i haven't beaten 1 or 2. when zelda 64 came out, i got it for christmas. my dad wo thinks every game is stupid, came into my room and said 'go into the hole' ( i was in kokiri forest looking for the sword) i found it. he stayed with me. we worked together. all those zelda memories. i love 'em.

Brandon Remembers: My name is Brandon and I am currently 14. I still remember the first time I heard played zelda, in the store. Even though my parents wouldn't let me get a nintendo to play it on, one of my friends had a nintendo, and I quickly started playing. I knew that it was a classic, like metroid (another one of my favorite games, I hope that nintendo makes a fourth.) I never even knew that Zelda had any sequels, until I saw Link's awakening. Although I usally stick with computers, I bought an onld SNES and discovered that ZELDA was on Super Nintendo too!!!! I instantly bought Zelda 3 and played almost non-stop for a week. I have beat it about 5 times now. At that time, I thought Zelda was dead, but I soon found out that it was upcoming on N64. I don't have an N64, but I have played it once again at a friends house, and discovered that it truely is the best of the series. It was always supposed to be 3d, and now it is. I am awaiting the sequel. :)

Neal Remembers: I am Neal, and I am 14 years old. The first time I heard about Zelda and saw the way it was played, I was around 5 years old. To be quite honest, it scared me. It was Zelda 1, I believe it was the 5th palace, and boy did it creep me out. That was my first experience with any Zelda game. The next time I played a Zelda game, it was Zelda 2, and I thought it was horrible. I did not like the way they tried to turn it into an RPG, and I believed the play control to be terrible. If you can't tell from here, I expected A link to the Past to be a horrible game from its predecessors...but I played it and loved it! It was much better than the original 2. I then played Zelda: Link's Awakening and loved it too! It added a lot of cool stuff than the ones before it. And now, finally, after waiting a very long and anxious time (And playing Zelda 1 & 2 again, finding out that they are actually very cool.) Ocarina of Time finally hit the stores. I got it for Christmas from my Grandma, and it was the Gold Cartridge! I nearly fainted. And now, I've beaten almost every Zelda Game invented thus far...and I can't wait for another.

"Fairy Ocarina" Remembers: Dear Video Gamer X, I would like to share my Zelda memories. The first Zelda game I played was A Link to The Past, when my neighbor rented it. I think we were 10 or 11 years old at that time. This was better than any game I had ever played! I bought it a few months later, and together we completed the game. I remember when we finally got inside Ganon's pyramid, and beat him. We were so happy! Then I got Link's Awakening for Christmas, and we also had a lot of fun with this game. When I started High School, I met someone who soon became my best friend. She also likes video games, and she has Zelda II for the NES. We played it a lot, but couldn't get very far... When she got a Nintendo 64, I already had one and we had mastered Super Mario 64, and it was great to show her little sisters what we had found... But now she changed... a lot... Anyway, now I am 15 and both my neighbor and I own Zelda 64, and when we completed it, I had this feeling of sadness... there was nothing else to do in this great game. Now I hope the next Zelda will be released soon, and I wish it will be more difficult than Ocarina of Time. This one was too short and too easy, but still a wonderful game... Bye!

Jamie Loughran Remembers: Hello. My name is Jamie Loughran. I am 12 years old. I remember when I was about 4 or 5 and I played Zelda 1 for the first time. Boy, did I have no idea how to play!! But as I grew older, those golden cartridges stayed in my mind. After a while, as time went on, I forgot about Zelda 1 and 2. Until a few years later, when me and my sister were bored and needed something to do. We got out Zelda 1 and played a bit, naming our game "DanDandy" (inside joke). We got very far and saw ganon for the first time. I guess my favorite part of that game was hurting that bearded guy in red and having the fire shoot at me. Then we went on to the easier Zelda 2. We had so much fun, making up names for all the bad guys (it was hilarious!). We beat that as well and I found a new love I had known for so long, but it never came out. So the years passed, and then came my sister's boyfriend. He came and gave me the gameboy game, Zelda 4. I played that, and yet again, beat it. Then another one of my sister's friends, Derek, borrowed our SNES for a few of his N64 games. I was phsyced (in a good way) to find that he had Zelda64. I turned it on and I was hooked. 2 months or so passed and I finished the game. I went back to try the "Swordless Link Trick" (which never worked) and other things I forgot when a few weeks later, Derek came to take his Zelda64 back. I was very sad and thought what it would be like to try to forget about Link. I couldn't just go to Mario. So, the next day my sister went to go hang out with her friends. When she came home she told me what she said to Derek...

"Man Dude, my sister is so devastated now. She was, like, in love that game," says my sister, Jessica.
"Really?" said Derek.
"Ya dude!" Jessica replied.
"You mean, making out with it?"
"Uh huh."

Of course all that was a joke (except that I WAS really in love with it). But he said he would return the game to me. I felt bad for taking it from him so I made him a picture that showed all my thanx. My original idea was to buy him a game for his so I didn't have to start all over. I plan that my birthday present will be the SNES game, Zelda3. And as I finish this story of MY adventure, with my kitten Jessica found a few days ago, who has been given the great name LINK, I say to myself..."Keep it up Mr. Miyamoto. You are fantastic. Thank you."

Tim Remembers: I remember my first Zelda memory. It was when I was about age 6 or 7. On Christmas, I opened a present and saw a box that said,"NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM". That Christmas day I played Mario,Mario, and more Mario. Then my parents said,"Ohh we forgot something." They handed me another gift, I tore it open and found a box that said,"LEGEND OF ZELDA" on it. I opened it and put it in the Nintendo, while throwing the Mario game across the floor. Years went by and mostly every Christmas when a new Zelda game came out, I got it. Last Christmas I got Zelda 64 and I was so happy at how the game improved. I was stuck on it. My parents couldn't get me off it. Those were the greatest games,( One thing Nintendo does good), and I will never forget them. And I cant wait for the next ones too come out!

Matt, Zelda Lover Remembers: I remember when I first got regular Nintend. It came with Mario3,Mario2,and Duck Hunt. The game I enjoyed most was Zelda.I saw its gold cartridge and dazzeld at it.I also have all the Zeldas and have beaten them.I'm missing one game from my collection though. The Super NES Zelda. When Z64 came out I wanted it so bad. Then on December 25 I opend a gift and BOOm it hit me like a ton of bricks. There lying in my hands was the game I raved for.Even though I am only 11 now I still want to see my name on the credits of a Zelda game so kids can have the same magical exprerince of Zelda.

Josh Remembers: hi my name is josh and im 13 years old.the first time i played zelda was 7 years ago when my dad brought home an nes.i played zelda for the first time and cryed.i beat the first 2 games and then for the next 6 years zelda was no longer a part of me.but then when zelda 64 came out the first year i got my n64 i could not sleep.i could not eat.i literally almost killed myself because i did not have it.then 2 weeks later my dad yelled at me and told me to come with him.i was wondering why.then we pulled up to best buy .we went in and then my dad pulled zelda off the shelf and said "here".it was a surprise gift he said.i cryed for 2 days strait and did not even take the celphane off because i was so happy.when i first turned on the game i was shocked at the graphics.then i beat the game before i knew it.to this very day i still play the game and will never get bored of it!

MkSpk1987 Remembers: Zelda was the greatest game to be put out on N64 same with the other Zelda games featueing a link to the past, links awaking, and even links adventures. They all add up to be the worlds best seris of games ever to be made. Zelda for N64 was a FANTASTIC GAME! The only bad thing is that 2 new N64 pokemon games are coming out ''Pokemon Snap'' and '' Pokemon Stadium'' Those games will hit number one for a couple of months but in the end Zelda will still be the most tightest game in the world once a gain. Once i saw the the advertisment I went Buck Wild! i mean i go Hell Yeah Baby Another Smash Hit!!!!!! I went Crazy my sister had to punch me to stop me. I told my mother.... for christmas you have to give me zelda. She payed 80 dollars for it! i went wild when i got it! I started playing it ... it toke me a week to beat it with no guide or no help!!! I went threw it no problem but i was glad i was the talk of the school for 3 months they said i was clamed to be the fastest kid in the state to beat it! then one night i started over at 9:00 i think and i beat it in 3 hours not dieing or anything!!! after doing so i called my Girl Friend and her mother thought i was a loneatic calling at 12:00 at night! i told her and she went wild. the next morning she came over and i started a new game and then it toke me 2 hours and a half to beat it! She was a witness man was she proud to have a good gamer boy friend! I should not be telling you this but she frenched me after wards....it wasn't like i did not get sliped the tongue before.... i enjoyed the game and if i get good enough maybe i can beat the game in am hour but i dought i can do it. The game was like a good luck charm to me i have gotten all the gold spiders and i have beaten the game with out dieing and geuss what nothing happens what a crock i was wondering maybe a differnt ending well screw that i got the same old ending! P.S. I am the best fan of zelda i have the hat, the shirt ,all the games, all the figures, and i have the zelda sound track! I guess i am really good at zelda and some junk! cha ching not just a game but a hole differnt world tha people think is a dumb game well screw those people zelda is the best game. P.S.S. Your site is the best Zelda site i have ever been to! You blow away the other sites.

Robb Remembers: Hello again Video Gamer X.. I have some wonderful memories that always seem to bring a tear to my eye when I think of them... I have never played any of the NES Zelda's, but I played "A Link To The Past", and "The Ocarina Of Time". I own both of them, and beat them both. Please post this letter on your page, or respond to this message because i want to know if anyone has the same heart filled memories!

First I'll explain the memory from "A Link To The Past". The first time I experienced this game, I didn't play it.. I watched my best friend (at the time) play it. It was a summer day, about 5:00pm. He came over and was going to stay the night.. I was about 9 or 10 years old then. I watched him dash around into trees.. It was hilarious. They next day when he left, I went to Aardvark Video, and rented the wonderful (at the time, funny to me) game. When I started it, I couldn't dash! Oh behold my nightmare I had to actually beat something to get the dashing ability! At the time, I sucked a video games that actually had puzzles and plots. I went ahead and sought out to get them, though.. I was thinking, mybe this will not be as hard as I thought... About 36 hours later (slight exaggeration) I beat the first boss for one of the pendants! I returned to the wise old man and got the boots! I was having fun actually trying to defeat the game, so I continued... I failed to beat it.. So, I purchased the game. I finally beat the game about a year later.. The memory of that game will always fill my heart with joy...

Now, for my favorite, "The Ocarina Of Time". I remember reading about this game in "Nintendo Power"... I never thought I would get it though. You see, I never thought it'd be so much trouble, but the Christmas that the Nintendo 64 was famous for, I asked for one. My parents traveled to 3 different states looking for one for me... We couldn't find any Nintendo 64s anywhere. At the last moment on Christmas Eve, my dad told me he had to go get some wine for our Christmas meal. He went to our local Wal-Mart, hoping there'd be one last Nintendo 64. Thank God there was. So I got my Nintendo 64, Mario 64, and Pilot Wings 64, all of which I have mastered. Anyway, I never expected to get the Zelda I asked for... So I went to the Video Store, Aardvark, and rented it! When I got home, I found my friend was waiting there, the friend that introduced me to "A Link To The Past".. This time, he watched me. I turned on my N64 and almost cried with joy when I finally saw the Zelda logo I wanted to see so badly. I played the game.. Through the night, until about 12:00pm the next day. Sadly, the game rentals are 3 days, and I almost beat the game within that time period, but considering how much I played it, about 56 hours... I loved the game, and today, I think I'll start a new file on my Zelda 64 that I own.. You see, being as it (Zelda64) was supposed to sell like crazy, I didn't think I'd get it for Christmas... That Christmas Eve when I opened up the package, I saw the glorious game. Gold Edition, everything I wanted. I put it in my Nintendo 64 and fired it up. I beat that game in about 5 days, but this time I slept at night.. Those games will always fill my heart with joy.. I'll be damned if I let that Ganon get my piece of the Tri-Force!

Matt Remembers: My name is Matt and I am 10. When I was 3 (in 1901) I remember getting Zelda: A Link To The Past. When I got home with it I opened it and immediately I knew it was going to be the best game I ever played. I played it nonstop 10 hrs. a day every day until I beat it. I remember me and one of my best friends would both pretend to be Link. We would cut out little shields and swords and other weapons of wood. When I heard about Zelda64 I started saving money. When I bought It I thought it was the best game. These are the best memories I will ever have.

Steve M. Bowling Remembers: I'm 16, the first time I ever saw Zelda was when I was very little... my big brother Mike (19) pulled out a shiny new golden cart... it was Zelda 2: Link's Adventure I remember being so happy just seeing any new game let alone this golden cartridge that was in front of me... It really did look like something special, and when my brother just started up the game seeing the title screen brough some kind of indescribable joy to my heart... and it still does even to this day... We both played that game together every day as much as we could... It really brought my brother and I together to share something like that together.. Unfortunately, when the next Zelda for the Super NES was to be released... we didn't have one and couldn't see what happened next to Link... but I remember waiting for Zelda 64... looking at all the screen shots... the movies... trying not to read the storyline anywhere.. From when I was 13, I had been waiting for this magnificent game and I remember when November 23rd finally came I raced down to the store after school and waited for 3 hours to get my copy... I was the first one and I remember when I put my hands on that game... I felt the kind of joy that I hadn't felt in a long time... When I looked at that gold cart it almost made me cry, remembering the care free times I spent with my big brother when we didn't care about acting "cool" when all that mattered was having fun and when I play Zelda 64 it's like I get lost in that world all over again it fills me really with a sense of nostalgia and sadness at once... I grew up on games like Zelda... and seeing them retain what for me was the true essence of childhood makes me happy beyond my wildest dreams... all I have to say is that I hope my children can having something like Zelda to grow up with, because the feeling you get from playing it, if you're like me is like remembering every single detail of your childhood and I hope our children don't miss out on that.

Julio Tejedor Remembers: My name is Charmander. I'm 11. I lived in Argnetina. There, the hottest trick for Zelda that argentinian guys know is that you can swing your sword :-). It was on December 1998 when my friend invited me to play in his house. He showed me Zelda64. I didn't know Zelda, I only saw a Zelda commercial and I thought: "That game must be one of those stupid games that you have to kill people and the legend of blablabla". I was looking at my friend playing Zelda64: I started to like it...he was at Goron City or somewhere about there. I REALLY liked it there. Then, I ordered another friend of mine to buy me Zelda64 when he went to USA. Of course, I gave him the money. Why order him to bring me Zelda64 from USA when I could buy it there in Argentina? Here, Zelda64 costed about $70 (it was new), now it costs like $50...well, in Argentina it costs $180 (no joking). Well, I bought it. The day my dad was bringing it to me at 9:00 pm, was one of the longest days of my life. I played, played, and played. Oh, and I also played. Well, I'm the type of guy who buys a new game and that one is the best, for example: I bought Super Mario RPG, that was the best game. Then, I bought Super Mario 64 and that was the new best game, then, Goldeneye 007, and that one was the NEW best game, then Banjo-Kazzoie and that was the new best game, then Zelda64, and that IS the best game. The only game of my life that remined and remins as the best, even if I bought another very cool games after Zelda64. Then I came here again to live here (4 monthes ago), I found out that there were MORE Zelda. Actually, I have Zelda 3, Zelda 4 and Zelda64. That's my story of the best game ever in the industry of videogames: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is late now, I have to go bed. Bye. Thanks for reading my Zelda story, even if it is boring :-(.

Shawn Remembers: Hi, my name is Shawn. I have been playing Zelda for a long time. I am 10 years old. The first game I got was Zelda for Super Nintendo. I thought to myself " couldn't we have gotten a better game than this?". Anyways, I started to play the game. I got past the first level that day. We got the player's guide for the game, and my sister wanted to read it so I let her. The next day, I noticed that I had no clue where to go, so I went to go get the guide. I never noticed that my sister was still looking at it since this morning. While I was gone, my sister jumped out from her hiding spot in the closet and started playing. She was looking at the map in the guide and she got to the level that i needed to get to. I was gone for about 30 - 60 minutes looking everywhere I could for the guide. So my sister went in the level and started playing. She would stop, and then look at the guide then play again. Once I came back, I saw the guide lying on the floor with a note on it that said : HERE'S THE GUIDE, AND BY THE WAY, I BEAT THE LEVEL YOU NEEDED TO GET TO! I was so suprised. From that day on, my sister read me the guide and told me where to go and what to do, and I did.

Anthony Remembers: Hi, my name is Anthony, and i'm 13. I remember when i lived in a duplex, I loved it there, and i was about 5. My Step Brother would come over every other weekend, and he wouold never give me a turn on games, but I was too young to know anything about that. I mean, he would give me turns, but that equally. I loved watching him play video games, and me helping him. The two games I remember most about us are Contra and Zelda. I'll tell the Contra one first. Me and Him (Jeff) used the 50 lives code, and we both played together, and we finally got to the end, and i shot the guys coming out while he tryed to kill the boss, and we beat it, and it made me so happy to beat a game toghether, that i nailed a sign outside saying "We Beat Contra" with sketch paper and pencil, and the strange thing is it stayed there for a month. Well, anyways a little before that we rented a video game, zelda for NES. We didn't know much about it, and we played and played and played, and then it was time for bed, but we knew we had to take the tape back in the morning, so we snuck into the other room and started playing it, i don't remember much about the game, but i do remember some lye he told me that you had to dye to turn off the game, and press both power and reset at the same time, or it would delete your saved games. I remember me getting a turn and me finding some power of some kind, but i remember how we just worked together, unlike other times, which wasn't much time, an average 1 day a week. Well, he is 18 now, and i see him matbe 1 day a month now. My parents are now divorced, and i go over my dad's, and sometimes Jeff comes over When i'm there.

I remember when i got older, I went over one of my mom's friends house (This was when Jeff and my dad got into a fight, and he didn't come over for about a year or two) and she was playing s-nes, zelda: a link to the past. I never got to play thoguh, me and her daughter always played Mario, but i was curious about zelda. Then about 2 years ago, i went to a video gamer exchage, and onmly had like 15 dollars, and i was looking for a s-nes tape, because i got my 64 about a year later, and i lokoed at the prices, and not the tapes, but it caught the corned of my eye when i was going to buy a different tape, Zelda!!!! But i was $10 short. It was $25, and the store was giving all there tapes the next day the a rental place, so they could rent them. I knew it was my last chance to get it, and i checked my money again, and put the money in my pocket, and the tape back on the shelve, and very sad of course, remembering about Jeff and everything. Then, I started to leave, but i seen $10 bill, with a note on the ground. I remember the exact words "Use this towards something you most despratly want at this moment" and i looked to see the old guy in older brownish clothes pull out in an older car, and drive away, and winking at me to buy it. I rushed over to grab the game, but at the same time someone else grabbed the game, and i looked, it was someone i never talked to from school. Both of our hands on it, tightly, pulling. I pushed him to let go, and he tryed to punch me, and i ducked, VERY low, down to his knees. He lost his balance and fell on my back. I came up, and i flipped him in the cart of games, knocking him and the cart over, games were everywhere, and i had the zelda game in my hands. I threw the money from my pocket on the counter and ran out of there, with the manager chasing me. I got on my bike and went down a hill, and i got away. I was laughing so hard, I didn't even mean to do that to the kid. I ripped the game out (Since it had been used) there was one saved game, and i left it there and started my own game in the second slot. I beat the game after 2 weeks, and the day i beat it i took it to school. The one kid i threw into the rack seen me, and came up to me. I noticed he had a bruise on the left side of his head. He tryed to push me, but i moved, he was off balance by the stairs, ready to fall. I helped him so he wouldn't, and he tryed to take the game, and thats when i threw my very first punch ever, making him fall down the steps. The principal right behind me, grabbing me, and going down to the kid i hit. We went to the principal's office, and asked what happened, and we both told him, and he took zelda off me, and gave us both detention for a week, and told me to stay, and the other kid to leave. He told me i could have seriuosly hurt the other kid, and i was lucky i didn't, and he said he was going to give back the game at the end of the year. But it was January!!!! He told me to go back to class, and i pretended to, but i hid behind a plant right by the door of his office, and he came out with the game in his hand, went into some type of closest, and came back out without it, and went back in his office. I went into the closet, and found boxes with people's name's on them, and found mine. hen i opened it, it had all kinds of stuff that teachers took off me before, years before, so i took the stuff i wanted, and put them all in my locker, except zelda, which i put in my pocket, and went back to class.

Then i got my N64 a year or 2 later, when my parents got divorced. Then, exactly 1 year later, i got zelda: Ocarina of Time!!! It took me awhile to beat, but i finally did. Then, one day, I went over my dad's and Jeff was there. He liked sport games by then, but he asked about the new zelda game, and he said we should start a new game and beat it. So we did, and we had to go to bed, but we did the same thing we did when we were younger, got up, and played zelda, and he mostly played, because he wanted to, and because i already beat it, but we stayed up all night, and beat it, and it was 6:00 when we were done, and it was like before on NES, like old times, and we went to bed and slept until 2:00. Now i look back and remember how much fun we had together with both NES and N64 Zelda's, and laugh at what we did, and how we did them.

Jason Keller Remembers: Hi My name is Jason Keller and I am 15. I do remember playing the very first zelda. I think I rented it. I didn't really understand it but though it was fun. I remember playing the dungeons. They were the best! Then I played the second one and didn't like it cause I didn't know what to do since I was still young. I haven't played A link to the past yet but from what I hear I am going to rent it tonight and as soon as I get enough money buy it! I have only played Links Awakening once and haven't played it since. I just remember seeing link on a ship and then being in some house. Then I heard about this Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time coming out and I saw it toping the charts for most wanted. I thought I had better check it out (still had vague memory of what zelda was like). I did and I loved it! I rented it until I beat it and then I bought it and beat it 5 more times! I still get mad when I think that I was stupid enough not to get a gold edition. That would have been cool. now I am going back to all the Zelda games in chronoligical order of how they are so I can play through story. since I have already beat first one. obviously the ocarina of time. Thanx for your time. I love the game so much that I am going to get that ocarina of time at www.songbirds.com or whatever. and play all the zelda songs! see ya and great page Gamer X. I too once I beat it this time will check for the triforce counting on all the clues that we have been given.

Anonymous Remembers: Hi, I shall remain anonymous (no real reason) I am 13. I have played all the Zelda games (with the exception of Zelda All-Stars) and have for some reason stopped playing or became uninterested in all but two. These were SNES's Zelda: A Link to the Past which I loved and played hours on end. Then of course the latest: Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The others like the very first Zelda I never played much because I was too young to understand it I suppose. The second one I didn't grow to fond of and still don't think I could. Why, I don't know. It's just one of those games I'll never like. The one for Gameboy was fun but then it had that "Mario" twist to it, which was kinda wierd and I never played that much even though I probobly could have. But I have to say I love this latest Zelda and have beat it though have come up-short to getting all the Gold skulltulas and twenty heart containers. I remember playing the SNES and looking for 20 but only found 19. I also (for some unknown reason) remember that it said in SNES Zelda booklet that before you can call yourself a true hero, you must find all heart containers. So I look forward in getting them all in this one.........

Matthew J Chouest Remembers: I love video games. I am a big fan of Final Fantasy and other RPGs. But there is one game that will always be my favorite RPG Zelda......... I remember when I first played it. It was when I got Zelda 3 for my birthday. When I opened the present I was confused. "What is this game" I thought. When I played it after the party I was like, " The creator of Zelda is a genius!" I beat Zelda 3 with 345 trys :). I bought Zelda 4 and I got ROMS of Zelda and Zelda 2. One day I found out there was a Zelda cartoon. I was very happy. But all I could find was Sing To The Unicorn :(. The motto I remembered while playing Zelda was "Never give up". This game will always have a place in my heart.

Clayton Remembers: CTZ (Hey those are MY inicials) UNL '75 Overland Park, Kansas. Hi, I'm Clayton, and I remember the first time I played a Zelda game. I was only 7 or 8, but I remember it like it was yesterday. That summer, my family was going down to Arkansas to visit some relatives. When we arrived at the house, I noticed an NES on a corner table, and asked my cousin if it was alright to use it. He said yes. Then I got to rummiging through the games he had. I had just gotten half way through when I noticed two games that really made me stop and look. They were, "The Legend of Zelda," and "Zelda II The Adventures of Link." I put one in and started to play. Just remembering the expierience I had playing both of those games brings a tear to my eye sometimes. Just thinking of Link, the hero of time, and Zelda, princess of Hyrule....................

P.S. I visit your site every day, and if wasn't for you, I probably would still be playing Z64. Thanks Video Gamer X !

A Gamer Remembers: I've been reading your "Zelda Memories" page and thought I'd share mine with you. We actually ended up getting the original game by chance. When my brother got the Nintendo way back in 1987, the "Duck Hunt" game was defective. So we went back to the store to see if we could exchange it. No dice. They wouldn't let us get a new "Duck Hunt," so they gave us Zelda instead. It's become one of the few original Nintendo games we've kept. When it came out, my bro got the second Zelda game. He still hasn't beaten it.
