SO MANY MEMORIES

Here we are in the 21st century. Home video game systems have exceeded the 20 year mark, and we are heading into a coming new era of photorealisic gaming experiences that merge the entertainment mediums of movies and video games into one sensory extravaganza. Those of us who grew up with our old grey NES's and even the Atari remember when gaming was actually a whole lot simpler yet still just as fun if not moreso than today. We veteran gamers who grew up on Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda are beginning to depart from our teen years and enter young adulthood. Some have dubbed us Generation Y, or even the "Nintendo Generation" We are the kids that fix our parents computers when they lock up and know how to work the digital display at the gas pump. Some trailblazer gamers are older than us, having been teens in the 70's and 80's and they were there at the infancy of the gaming industry. Playing video games has become the kind of thing that has the potential to attract people of all ages, and provides a worthwhile escape from the hectic day to day existance we endure whether we ask for it or not. When it's just you and the game, nothing can intervene to take that euphoria away. Our video game memories will forever remain a part of our heritage. We will pass on to our children the joys we experienced, and share with them their adventures remembering back when we first pressed the "start" button that unlocked the doorway to our imagination.

Spiral Foe Remembers: 'm 21 in this new millenium & I still vividly (surprisingly) remember fond memories of the Legend of Zelda games series. I don't recall exactly what age I was when I first saw the commercial ad for Zelda 1 on TV (I was about 8-10 years old). The guy they had for the commercial kinda creeped me out & said that I would never play it. Some time passed, Zelda was rented, I played it for my first time, got frustrated but enjoyed myself. Some more time later one of my aunts gets the game for free. She wasn't too interested in action/rpgs so she gave the game to me & my brothers. I played it...lots. I loved the game (& still do). Years later, as I neared my teens, I managed to acquire the Adventures of Link. My family moved, & I met some friends who told me how to get through the 5th labyrinth & to enter the 7th. (Okay so I also snuck a peak at their NES Atlas while they were beating FF1.) Although I conquered Zelda 1 (to the point where I could beat it in a couple of hours), sadly I was never able to beat Zelda 2 because *sniffle* it had been pilfered. When I got a SNES I got Zelda 3 for XMAS. Took me 5 days to beat the game, but that was only because I had to share the SNES. I begged for a Gameboy so I could play Links Awakening (I haven't the foggiest where my game & Gameboy went to btw). Finally when N64 finally was made available for purchase I patiently waited 3 years for the inevitable release of Zelda 5 (of course during that time I was referring to the game as Zelda 64). Finally, after delay upon delay, my mother & grandmother reserved my copy of Zelda 5 (5 days before the game was officially released for sale). The only thing that drove me nuts was that I KNEW I was getting Zelda 5 (because my mother showed me the ad & asked which was Zelda) but I couldn't play it until XMAS! Needless to say I was going bonkers. But it was well worth the wait. Despite that I had to share my N64 with my youngest brother so he can play WCW Thunder, I was ecstatic when I finally defeated Zelda 5 on the 9th day (& no cheating either). Well now I have my Zelda game put away so as to prevent any damage (if it was gray cartridged I wouldn't mind as much). All that remains now is memories. I still wish I had my old NES & Zelda 1 & 2 & 4...I also wish there was a "Zelda All Stars" released in America. I also wish a Zelda game would be made that is similiar to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars, except with better graphics. Call me kooky but I think it would be neat to play a Zelda game with Ganon as a temp ally (at best), just as Super Mario RPG has Bowser as a temporary ally. I have high expectations for Zelda: Gaiden, & I'd be various dubious if a Zelda movie was made (especially after being highly disappointed in seeing the Super Mario movie in theaters). So what will this new millenium hold for the Zelda series & it's fans? Who knows! But I hope it's gonna be great! I haven't been disappointed yet! So I'll just sit back & remember the Past of the Legend of Zelda. *Sigh.* :)

Stefan Remembers: Hey my name is Stefan I live in Canada I just whant to say how much I loved Zelda 64. When the first nintendo came out I wasn't even born but I still got one fore as long as I can remember I ben playing nintendo and loved it. But after a few years I lost interst in it I got bord of the games I had and stoped playing. I always new that Zelda existed but I never reley botherd with it. The elyest memory I have is when I whas in pree school I whent to a frinds hous and playd legends of link and loved it so meny years later the 64 coming out so I wanted it so bad on my birthday I got it along with shadows of the empier. I playd it fore a will then beet it so once again I was bord of the games. then a year latter I herd that a new Zelda game was coming I thought it was just going to be another game that was poppuler before it came out like mario and again like mario rely suck so I ignord it. Then on december 3 1999 I whent to the video store to get a game so I loked arownd all the good one where out so I dicided not to get one then I saw tow last copys of Zelda so I thought what the hell and toolk it. When I got home I left it on the table fore a whill then there was nothing on T.V so I gave it try when it started with that cool cinomatic I thought this is pretty cool so I play nd when I beet the deco tree and herd the legend of the triforce I thought ''THIS IS SO SWEET''. I was able to get to the forest temple before I had to return it but I couldent stop there I had to find out all the secrets like who is shiek and what hapend to the triforce and where's Zelda it drove me insane till cristmas when I got my own copy I beet the first parts fast and kept going when I finly beet the shadow temple and whent to the temple of time and met sheik again and told me the legend of the three parts to the trifores that whas one thing of my back the when sheik reveld that he was Zelda I pratacly hit myself because it was so panfully ovious then when I saw link deliver that final blow I felt like crying becaus there whas nothing left fore me to do the game I love so much was over my mission completed. When I saw link and Zelda flying like that I was hoping fore better but nothing happend I felt like sceaming when she ask for the ocoraina and when she said that link had to place the sowed back into the pedestral I whas saying to my self this is not happoning. But even with the ending I still loved it link is and always will be the most asome nintendo careter ever in conclousion this game has evrery thing I ever whanted.

Mamaroo Remembers: I am 43 years old. I grew up before the times of video games and computers. But in 1988 I was working in a Wal-Mart in the electronics department (between teaching jobs...I taught 6th grade). While I had never been interested in electronic games, even after they started to become popular, I found myself playing this Zelda game on my lunch hour every day on the demo system in our department. It wasn't long before I used my employee discount to get a Nintendo system and spent my nights playing at home as well. I played a few other games, Mario and Tetris, but I really loved Zelda. I never did conquer it though. I got back to teaching and was too busy to play much Nintendo after that. Then I had to quit teaching for health reasons, and I happened to have a Game Boy. All I ever played on it was Tetris, because it was the only game I had and I found it relaxing. So I was happy with that. Then someone gave me a Link's Awakening game and I am hooked again. But I am determined to conquer the game this time because I have a computer now and I like to go to web sites that have "tips & tricks," especially since my old brain is really feeble now and it's really hard to get the best of a video game at this age. But even old people like me enjoy computers and video games, especially Zelda. And I think this is a really cute website. Thank you.....Mamaroo : )

Alan Brown Remembers: Ahh, yes zelda i could remember playing it throughout my life when zelda 1 came out i was 4 years old i got it when i was 6 i though it was very VERY fun. I always had a problem finding lvl 7but of course i was young and didnt have a clue that it would be in a lake. I have never beaten world 2 of Zelda 1 (hehe i`m pathetic) cause i didnt know where all the levels were nore the items. but i beat the first world many times i got to where i didnt need the little map the game came with (i had the gold cartridge) my favorite lvl was 9 (death moutain last lvl where gannon was). Right when u walk in the room wher Gannon was u would pull out the completed triforce of wisdom i believe and Gannon would uncloak then cloak again and would teleport in different spots and shoot fireballsafter u had hit him enough times with the silver arrows he would decenigrate and at the top of his ashes would be the triforce of power after u get it the door at the front of the room opens, thus leading to where princess Zelda was she was surrounded by fire, so u had to kill the fire but smakin it with the sword (kinda dumb eh??). part 2 i hated. Part 3 was pretty cool my favorite weapon was the bombos medalion first u would spin around then your swords would flash and the tip of your sword touches the ground and makes pillars of fire go around u in a circle motion then the screen gets bombarded by the fire and everything on the screen bursts into flames (enemies only) the water level was my favorite cause its where u get the hookshot. The boss was real fun to fight so i saved it at that point and did it over and over and over! and fanaly Zelda 64, wow...... it didnt have really neat magic i think =(, and the magic from the sword when your at full energy was taken out!!! that made me really not like zelda 64 as much as the others the bosses were to eazy nothin special about the master sword except its better then the other swords, u cant use the boomerang when your a adult man all that made me mad but the fact that it was zelda made me not sell it.I do remember dressing up and playing zelda with my friend Will i would use one of my pj shirts as the tunic cause it was green, a green towel for the kilt, green soccer socks for the boots, santa clause hat that i painted green for the hat (duh), a belt to strap around me to hold the shieth, sword, and shield, a bomb bomb toy from Super Mario Brothers for his bombs, a glass of coolaid for healing potions, a boomarang, a pen that has a crystal ball at the top for the wand, a red ring, a small book (curious george) for my spell book and cardboard colored yellow and cut into the shape of the triforce and that was it =).

Wendy Remembers: 'My name is Wendy, and I've been playing the Zelda games since I was about five years old. I am now seventeen. I remember the original game with a lot of fondness, as I think it really helped me learn to solve problems, to use my mind. The Legend of Zelda is a wonderful concept. I've always been interested in video games, but this one is very special... *sigh* I still have an ambition to be Zelda when I grow up! :-)'Okay, that's it! Thanks!

EbonWyngsNight Remembers: Hi. The best memory I have of Zelda is the fact that it helped me become closer to my family. You people out there might think this is kinda cheesy, but it's true. My father had congestive heart failure, and renal failure. he was on the list for a transplant, and finally got a kidney transplant. After the surgeries, he wasn't able to do much, and for a seven year old with no siblings, your father's kinda important. Back when the NES first came out with Zelda, was when my father also had his transplant. During his recovery at home, we would sit together for hours playing Zelda and just talking. I'm a hardcore Zelda fan, interested in the History of Hyrule, love the music, am totally into the exploration of the games. However, there is no memory I will cherish more than being able to spend time with my father with something we both enjoyed. I want to thank Nintendo for making the Zelda series so I could have those memories.

Rydias Remembers: You can call me Rydias, and I'm 20. As an avid Zelda fanfiction writer, my fondest memory of Zelda came to me from Ocarina of Time, the part near the ending where we learn that it is Link and Zelda who imprison Gannon in the Golden Realm, thus spawning the next Zelda games. Ultimately, in their quest to end his reign of terror, they damn their own descendants. However, what I like most is how Gannondorf goes falling into the Sacred Realm, cursing them all, especially Link, and the visualization comes to my mind of Gannon walking about the Sacred Realm until he finds the Essence of the Triforce, and I can just hear him laughing, because he too knows of the grave mistake Link and Zelda have just made. Every time I think of it it sends chills down my spine!! Although my favorite Zelda game is and always will be Link To The Past, I like Ocarina of Time because it starts pulling together all the loose ends of the Zelda universe.

Kayla Geier Remembers:It is very strange how I came in contact with Zelda. I was about 8 or 9 and at that time my family was going through some very hard times. My mother was doing all kinds of drugs, pot, pills, LSD, whatever she could get her hands on. At that time my older sister and I already had our Super Nintendo. And one day my mom come home with Zelda (I believe it was "A link to the Past" whatever Zelda game that went with Super Nintendo). We beat the first two bosses and thought "WOW only one more to go", but boy we were wrong. It was then that one of my moms friends showed us that we hadn't even started yet. We still had to go through the Dark World. He helped us beat the Zelda game in no time flat and we lurned how to do it ourselves. But when all of this was happening my moms drugs problem wasn't getting better. Every Night and ever day we were alway sent to our room. Nothing better to do we played Zelda. Over and Over and Over again. It was our way of leaving the world that feared us and entering Hyrule. Sooner or later my mom sold our game system to a pon shop, for drug money and we were left alone. The nightmare finally ended, all was well. My mom went through some help and she is better now. But I will never forget that game. It changed me. The game gave me this weird fealing inside. This deap dark fealing, that make you think your sinking, its hurts and it reminds me of the past I have tryed so hard to forget. 5 Years later that fealing came back. It was Chirtmas and I was looking through "The wish book". I had just gotten a N64 so i went strait for the game section. I was looking at all the games that they had is stock. And right there in black it said Zelda:The Ocarina Of Time. My heart sunk. The fealing was back, but for some reason, I liked it. It gave me a joy that the past was gone and this was my new start. I got that game for Christmas and I beat it. But through the hole game, from start to finish, that fealing was with me. But no more worries cause the past is over. And to think this fealing, was all from a little game called Zelda. I guess every one has there stories about how they came to know this great game. But lucky me, I also get a cool fealing. One day I will get a super Nintendo again and I will play that Zelda game again. But for now I have my N64 and the New Zelda game (coming out in store soon) to worry about.

NoxID Remembers: Hey, it's me again, NoxiD. I was looking around your "Memories" page, and found myself remembering exactly what I was doing when I was five, after I got the good ol' Nintendo... I had Mario, and that was it, but when I failed to find Final Fantasy (Was that what I was looking for?) one day, I stumbled across the shiny golden cart known as The Legend of Zelda. I wondered a bit, looked at my fifty bucks, looked back at the cart, and thought "What the heck, I might as well" I spent the remainder of that day beating the crap out of Octorocks and shooting Zoras with my trusty bow and arrow. I played that game out to the very day that the lithium battery within burned out... I decided to let it sit around for a while, and lo and behold, the battery magically recharged itself! So, for another two years, I beat octorocks, showed the Moblins who REALLY owned the lost woods, and had a tasty dinner of roast pork with princess Zelda by the light of the Triforce. I love the site, man...keep up the great work!

Sabrina Remembers: my name is Sabrina, and i have been adicted to zelda ever since i was 8 (i am 16 now.) I remember the first time I saw Zelda, it was Lttp, and it was at my mom's, (my parents r divorced, and that was the only time i had lived with my mom) and she used to play video games, and her friend (who was also an adult)lent her lttp for our snes, and I remember seeing it, and like, "wow! that is sooo cool", and i have been adicted ever since! i desperatly waited for zelda64 to come out, but i just got it, and my n64 this past christmas, my father wouldn't buy it for me, and i have beat it like, 500 times since it got it, and I can't wait for Zelda:Gaiden to come out, i will be first in line...spend the night at the wal-mart if i have to. all of my guy friends are jelous because i can play the game better than them, and i am a girl. hehehehe! i love the game zelda, and i also remember, after i first started playing lttp, me and my friends (all boys of course) would act it out, and they always made me be zelda (stupid boys...) but playing zelda with my mother, and acting it out with my friends when i was little, before life has any problems in it, is some of the happiest memories i have. and i will always cherishe them, and playing zelda now will always take away my worries, at least for a little while. i just wish i could find a nes, and the other games, i have only played lttp, and oot. I love your site, and keep up your good work!

Peter Danilchuk Remembers: My name is Peter, I am 11, and I would like to tell you that When I was 6, my grandma got me Zelda 1. I considered it a regular game, and left it alone for a while. A few weeks later, I found Zelda II at the store. I recognized the name Zelda, and got the game. All my other friends got it too, but I had the skills. It must have been an internal secret, but I beat the so called hardest Zelda game of all time.I grew up, and forgot about zelda I and II, until Ocarna of time came out. I flipped. I had dreams about it every night, until I got it, and my life changed forever. I now lost 30 pounds and got a special haircut to look like Link. My friend moved, and he gave me A Link To The Past. I got to the Ice Palace, and to this day I have never beat it. On my 11th birthday I was given a Game Boy Color and Zelda: DX. I beat that as well. I don't have a Philips CD-I, but I listen to the music anyway.

Guard Girl Remembers: Zelda really is an important part of my life. I've moved around a lot and the last place I lived it was almost like the "Zelda Years," part of my life. I remember when I first went to visit my uncle and spent most of the time playing his Nintendo, even though he didn't have Zelda it was the first time i had seen or played a Nintendo. Then at Christmas that year with my uncle I opened a gift from my uncle and it was his Nintendo and Zelda! After that I spent all my free time playing the game, it was very fun all the time, well except when I almost had the game conquered and my little brother accidentally erased everything. I never got that far after that. Later I got the Zelda II we tried to play it but my brother and I were young and we couldn't figure it out, so we didn't play it that much. We also made some friends that owned a Super Nintendo we used to go over to their house and watch them play Zelda LTTP but I never got to play that much and we were usually over at my house playing Zelda on my Nintendo. My dad REALLY loved Zelda too, It seemed like every Friday or Saturday night was "Zelda Night," he would invite one of his fiends over and they would play for about three hours. My brother and I would stay up and watch until our mom would make us go to bed. About a two and a half years after we got our Nintendo I found out that we were moving, and some of my best friends were moving too. Now we have a Nintendo 64 and we let some have ours since we had a N64 and they didn't. But I feel like crying every time I hear the Over world Theme because it reminds me of my friends I've lost touch of.

Jesse Remembers: To keep this short, I am 14 yrs old, My name is Jesse, and I lived through the 80's and I've seen the very beginning of Zelda. I have only played the NES versions of Zelda until Zelda64. It started when I would go to visit relatives during the summer. I would also see my cousin who had NES. The highlite of my visit would be playing Zelda. It was my favorite game. Since then he has gotten rid of his NES. I started playing Final Fantsy for NES on a Nintendo system I purchased for $5 at a tag sale. This was the only RPG I had at the time. It was a great game, but after beating it I had nothing to do...Until Playstation came along with FF7. This reintroduced me to RPGs. I actually spent a full 24 hour period playing FF7. FF7 was a great game which at the time I considerd the best game in the world. But then, THE greatest day of my life came when N64 released ZELDA64!!!! I will never ever forget putting that cartridge into the N64 and turning it on. I played for days straight. I remember every second of that game. For about two months of my life I worshiped this game. This game had the greatest impact on my life. The memories I have of this game will live on till the day I die. I got really depressed after beating it, the ending wasn't what I was hopeing for and I felt like the rest of my life wouldn't live up to the fun I had playing Zelda. But, now with the sequal coming I have something to look forward to. I just hope that Zelda will continue on into the new mellenium. I hope to see even more sequals, a movie, and maybe even a TV show...I should also mention that this is the coolest site i've ever been to! I have to say that Video Gamer X has definitily created the greatest Zelda site ever!

Peter Hannah Remembers: Yes, I can remember well. It was christmas day, 1998. There it was, in silver wrapping paper, my copy of Zelda 64. After nearly four years of suffering with anticipation, it had finally arrived in the UK. I seized the present and rushed up to my room. In uncontrollable exitement, I ripped of the wrapping paper, nearly tearing the box in half. I held the cartridge in my hot sweaty hands, looking at it with amazement as if it was floating or something. Then, without hesitation, I shoved it into the N64. I tried to scape my jaw off the floor as I gawped at the sheer wonder of it all. Never, EVER, will I forget that day........ .... That one christmas morning.... Cheers for your time, see ya!

SailorBW Remembers: I always loved Zelda. I don't have much to say about Zedlda64, but, I do about the original Zelda for the plain nintendo (which I had a Gold Cartriage for that). I remember how hard my mom worked to beat that game. If she died, (I mean Link) the music would scare me when I was little. But, In the end, she overthrew Gannon, and saved P rincess Zelda! The ending for that was cute if you saw it. But, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, is still to be conquered. Zelda, will be in my heart forever. They're the graetest video game people in the world (or that's what I think) Zelda... Link... how could I forget them?

Jacob Remembers: Hey my name is Jacob,I fell as if am the biggest Zelda fan ever becauce it is the only thing I ever think about. I remember getting Zelda ' Link to the past ' when i was about seven it was really cool . Damn i miss that game . My mom had to litttaraly Knok me away from it . I beat it, within a week . On my way to Wissconcin one summer I got about a 4 hour glimps @ links awaking from a freind . I never beat nor bought it.A couple years after I got Ocarina of time ,beat it. I just reasentlly got Zelda;Majiora's Mask. But guess what I don't have an expanssion pack and I've it for about 1 week but I'm getting . you site is the only thing that has really been keeping me going . your sites awsome keep up the good work.

Christain Remembers: My name is Christian and I am 15. I recall the first time I saw zelda, it was when I went to my cousin's house in Tampa. They just recieved a brand new NES and Zelda. I started playing and I could barely stop, my mom didn't want me to play Zelda since it had encantment and sorcery which was not appropriate, (did I care ?), no way I was entranced . I remember playing in the very begining at the entrance to the wise man's cave, the bridge to the dead tree, and even the demise of the Dragon. I didn't get far since I was 4 but I loved just walking around. I wished for Zelda merchandise and even had my older cousin draw pics for me. Then they gave away the NES and its games I was horrified and very upset. Then when I was 11 I played Zelda II at my other cousin's house in Hamilton county. I liked it but my mom didn't let me play hardly a good days worth of exploration. I also recall when I was in 1st grade and I was in the hallway with some friends, they said their name was Zelda, I laughed and said I was LINK, they said who the heck? Those fools I knew people would never read the freaken prologue. Then I started to love medieval things such as Knights and of couse sweet PALADINS and their swords. Then in 7th grade people were playing Link's awakening it took me about 3 weeks to beat. When zelda V finally came out I had a PLaystation and I couldn't buy a N64 but when my sister did I played and played and in about 2 weeks of playing Ganon fell to his knees not to Link but to a TRUE Hylian fan a true warrior of the triforce. Now I just bought Majora's Mask and I'm glad to have the old type of Zelda the true original Hyrule.I bought it oct.28 and now I have just beaten the king of Ikana and was granted to the final temple of Stonehead. I recently saw the new toys from toy biz and this was the way Zelda was meant to be. I also must add that Ocarina of Time seemed to real to be Fantasy and seemed more like some place in Britan. This is not Wales it's Hyrule!!!!! Majora's Mask is the incarnation of the original Hyrule, Nintendo wanted to show us that hyrule was indeed large and powerful unlike the tiny Hyrule of Ocarina of Time. But if I ever get to design a new chapter I will show all of Nintendo that I can create the greatest Zelda ever which will be actually HARD for once , I can't believe I alreDY WILL BEAT MAJORA'S MASK IN NEARLY A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is all for now hylians for this is my fanyasy of Hyrule.I have ideas for a new series called The Legend of Zelda: Star of Realm; starring Link and Tyrion from the Frozen real of Ezra .I have beaten Zeldas 3,4,5,6 and I am ready for a challenge! And why is Nintendo so greety they should release zelda to all systems and if they( nintendo) don't make a hard game for my intellect then I WILL!

Jesse Remembers: My name is Jesse, once upon a time I walked into a video game store. I was only about four back then, the NES was very popular. "I want that one!" I'd point to any video game, hoping my mom would get me it. One day, my mom bought me one as a suprise. It was wrapped in a shiny gold paper, I opened it carefully, putting it into the NES. I turned it on, grabbed the control and started playing. I died as soon as I started, but there was something different about this game. It wasn't like the others, you could go away, then return, but you're game would be saved. You needed to solve puzzles. It was like no other game i had ever played. It was a few years later when the SNES came out. My family wasn't rich or anything, and I really wanted that 120 dollar SNES. Then I got the thought, and decided to sell my NES and all my games, about thirty of them. So there I went, I sold it for 150 dollars. Who knew that I was about to throw something so valuable away...Something I'd never forget.

SNES, the new craze! I was about 8 now, SNES was the thing everyone was talking about. I went to the new store which opened a few blocks down the street with my cousin. We looked in the video games section. I pointed out to one that looked interesting. "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past" the label read. My cousin told me that the game looked crappy, but I held it in my hands, and it felt familiar. I took it home that day, and went in my room, unwrapping it and put it in my SNES. I turned on the power, and I saw three triangles split then come back together. Then the sword shoved into the back of the sword, that music filling my ears. Chills ran down my spine, this was so familiar to that game I had played so long ago. (4 years, I totally forgot about The Legend Of Zelda.) And to this day, I've won every single one of those games in the Zelda series, except the one in that shiny gold cartridge. The multi-million seller, the game that started all RPG's everywhere, the game with the first saving feature. How much i regret ever selling it. The Legend Of Zelda.

Zapping Dragon Remembers: I am known as Zapping Dragon on the Internet but I like to go as Zapp. I am 13, yes a young dragon but wise, and I want to share this memory. When I was about 8 years old or so I got The Legend of Zelda for my cousin whom had love Zelda. I was tempted to play it even though I disliked Zelda but I could not for it was not mine to keep on Christmas. I wanted to buy my own and so I did. When I played it, it was very fun indeed and now I have stopped disliking all of the Zelda games and have a file on two other games that my friend own. And those are my memories of the Legend of Zelda.

Mariogary Remembers: My favorite Zelda memory was when I was 6. I was watching my brother play Zelda: Link to the Past. It was mesmorizing watching a tiny little guy on the screen go through the challenging puzzles presented before him. But then there was a puzzle so hard, so challenging, it was taking so long I fell asleep. I had a dream in which I was Link stuck in that exact puzzle. I could see all my status on screen. I solved the puzzle in the dream. Before I walked in the next room, I awoke. Sure enough, my brother was still stuck. So I went to my brother and said "Jeffy, Let me try." He said "If you do it, Ill give you 10 dollars." I said "Ok!" I did it the way I did in the dream and to my brothers surprise, it worked! My brother said "You did it! Oh my God, you did it!" I said "Pay up." To this day, my brother denies it happened and still doesnt know how I did it.

Tenma Remembers: My name is Tenma and I'm 17. I remember when I was in sixth grade I took 60 dollars down to Toys R Us to buy a gameboy. I wanted to get Tetris along with it, but they only had gameboys that included Zelda:Link's Awakening. When I started playing it, I fell in love with it. It was my first experience with Zelda.

When I was in school, all day long, I would think about coming home to play Zelda. I would think about solutions to the puzzles that I was stuck on. When I got home, I would spend hours and hours with my gameboy in hand. I would get stuck on a puzzle, spend a few days at it, and it would bring me a great deal of joy to solve it and continue exploring the world.

I made my way up to the second dungeon, and then I got totally stuck on a puzzle for several months. I didn't know what to do, and I almost abandoned the game. One day, later in sixth grade, I was sitting in my music appreciation class, and we were listing different musical instruments. My friend Eric said an ocarina was a musical instrument, and I said, Hey, an an ocarina's from Link's Awakening. I didn't know he had the game, and soon we started talking about it. We drew maps of the second dungeon, and he helped me out.

We talked affectionately about the game. We called it "Link's Ah-wah-Kine-ing". I bought a plastic ocarina from a music store, and right now I have several real ocarinas made of clay.

One of my favorite parts of the game was the little mini-movie where Link talks to Marin. After this I fell in love with Marin and I wished the game was real. I almost cried when the game ended. I still feel like I am a part of the island, and I really wish it was real. Eric used to ask me, "Do you really love a videogame character, because some people really do". The answer is, yes I do. I don't know if I need to see a psychiatrist, but I really do. I am almost crying right now because I love Marin, and I love Koholint Island so much.

I am not making this up. Link's Awakening has been an integral part of my life.

[email protected] Explains: Hello, I am 18, and I was reading your Zelda Memories section of The Odyssey of Hyrule. I am one who has played all of them from The Legend of Zelda to Majoras Mask. Omit the CDi versions. And I admit that each one of them was as beautiful as the one before it. Hyrule took on many changes in landscape, yet remained as lovely and vibrant as ever. Where Lake Hylia was but a body of water that Link used boots to walk across to get to a Castle. At one time there wasn't a Lake Hylia. Even though, Lake Hylia is one of the most memorable locations in Hyrule due to its cascading...sparkling water, and the sunrise/sunset over it make it astounding. Simply looking at Hyrule Castle during the Imprisoning War made me feel as if I belonged to Hyrule. And even as much as we may hate Ganon/Ganondorf, the Legend would not be the same without him. As many people probably do, I don't look at it as a mere game..this..world that Miyamoto created became a part of my life, and I was able to divide his stories into History, and Religion. My love for Hyrule is like the Presidents love for America. Hmm, well..better not say that, cuz the President could give a %*#@ less about America as long as he/she is paid. I can almost say that I have been in Hyrule before, because I believe so much in it. And with people picking the game apart, hacking and taking the ROM apart, who is actually appreciating the game itself?? Why not just live the game? Anyways, nobody obtained the Triforce in the Imprisoning War...so why not just lay off? Zelda is better than great already!

Tunsani Remembers: My name is Tunsani and I'm 17.When I was little,my brother got an N64.I spent countless hours watching openmouthed. Then, one Christmas,He got Zelda64.I had heard about it from his friends. He played all the time.I just watched, silent as a mouse, staring at the TV,watching the story unfold before me.When he got to Ganon for the first time,I hid under the bed.I watched the ending, nearly crying.I loved that. The first thing i remember of that is,Matt putting the cartidge in the N64.We were both practically squealing with delight. He turned it on,and I watched him.He put it on,and then we met Navi.We cracked up.We thought the game whould be like Craig had told us.He didn't mention Navi!I hid his guide,so we listened to Navi.I remember cold winter days, sitting in Matt's room, booklet and guide in my hand, watching the game.It was like a game I had waited so long for.I helped whenever I could, and now I search endlessly for help, trying to beat the game.

Allsop Remembers: It was Christmas. We had all gotten done opening our presents and were upstairs in my grandma's guest bedroom. We were all watching the television and I was having a great time! All of a sudden, My cousin from Indiana pulls out his game boy (the big old gray one) and starts to play. He's playing when all of a sudden I see a game in his game case that looked pretty neat but didn't know what it was. After showing me all of his other games, he popped in you guessed it , "Legend if Zelda:Links Awakening"! INSTANTLY I WAS HOOKED! I loved the game play and couldn't put it down until we had to leave. About two days after that, me and my parents were in Meijer and I went to look at the game boy games. Sure enough they had it and luckily it was the LAST COPY ON THE RACK! So I got the game and brought it everywhere that I possibly could like school, restaurant, friend's house, etc. So I beat the game about a month after that and then I kept beating over and over again. Last year for Christmas, I got a game boy COLOR and the newest version of the Zelda game which again I played until my heart was content. Now I have the new Zelda 64 game and hope to get majora's mask within the next two weeks. But for now I'm still looking for the triforce in Zelda 64 because I know that there is a way to get it, but anyway that's how I'm a big Zelda fan!

Vanessa Says: Hi, my name is Vanessa, and i'm 13. although i've only played zelda64, link has been in my dreams since the first time i saw him. i was very lonely back then, and when i first saw the bright blue eyes and that green tunic, i knew i'd never be the same. Link is like my best friend, even if i only see him in my dreams. i have no other friends, so i suppose that he really changed me. Sadly, i still don't have any friends but him, but until i meet him in the other world, i'll have to keep dreaming. Thank you for hearing me out, and i hope someday, i'll meet Link. In heaven.

Aseem Kishore Remembers: Oh boy, what to say? I feel like I've been so deprived in my childhood. I'm 14 years old right now (2001). I was born in India and moved here in 1993 when I was six. I never grew up with the most recent top of the line video games. I was raised up to be the best I could in school and everywhere else. I did get a Sega Genesis with all these educational games on it, I can remember that much.

Then in seventh grade (98-99), it was like a whole new world was opened to me when we got a Nintendo64 out of nowhere. I mean, obviously I had wanted one after seeing all my friends with it. But I had never even slightly expected that I would get it. But before I knew it, I was at Wal-Mart with my dad and my brother with an N64 and Super Mario 64 in hand at the check-out counter. This was during the spring, I think, and at that time, Zelda for N64 was out (I think). I remember playing it at Wal-Mart also, but I had no clue how to control and I thought it was another one of those crappy games that was getting so much undeserved attention. My brother bought 1080 Snowboarding a week later because we had both chosen one game (I had chosen Mario).

Then in eighth grade, after we had beaten and rebeaten both games over and over and had practically gotten so sick and bored of them that we'd choose homework over them, something happened. Again, completely unexpectedly, I was just joking around and asked my friend if I could "borrow" his games (with heavy sarcasm and laughter), and he just said "Sure, which ones?" I admit I was kind of schocked, because I would never loan my games out. I'm not mean or anything, I just found it fairly risky (not anymore, but at the time I did).

I asked him which games he had, and I asked to borrow Diddy Kong Racing, thinking it would be cool (yeah, right) along with Starfox64 for me and All-Star Baseball '99 for my brother as a little surprise. He said sure, because those games were really old, and because he was a good friend, he forced me to also borrow two other games which he thought were so great that he felt everybody should experience them. One of them was some Star Wars game which I never got a hang of because he didn't have the manual and I couldn't figure out how to do certain stuff. He said the other was Zelda64, or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I remembered how I had thought it was crappy, and I reluctantly accepted it. I didn't play it for a couple of days, enjoying Starfox64 and All-Star Baseball. Then one morning, before school, I had gotten ready and eaten breakfast and everything with about 20 minutes to spare before my dad was ready (he was giving me a ride that day), so I decided, what the hell, I might as well just try the game out. I put it in and turned it on, not bothering to even look at the manual. Before I knew it, I was so absorbed in the game! It was amazing, better than anything I ever knew!

About a month or two later, I beat the game, with the help of a walkthrough on GameFAQs.com (I can't help it, I always use walkthroughs and guides for every game you can imagine -- and I hate myself for it!). Despite this, I felt that it was by far, hands down, the best game I had ever played. It went so far as tears in many parts, and the storyline was -- words can't describe the storyline. It was just beyond even an incredible and amazing storyline.

This past Christmas (2000), I asked for Majora's Mask. I never expected that I would get it, but I was surprised as hell when my parents asked me where they would find it. It was an incredible disappointment to me when they had bought it but because of the horrible weather here in Buffalo, NY, it had fallen out of the cart on the road. They called and called the store for two days, asking and searching for it. But in the end, it was lost. Christmas came and went, without Majora's Mask. Then, like every other surprise, a couple of days after Christmas, my dad came home with Majora's Mask Special Edition (unfortunately for me, it included the strategy guide -- you guessed it). I didn't have an expansion pack, though, but my parents got me one, seeing how much I loved the game.

I have beaten the game now. It was very fun and challenging, even with the strategy guide (especially the first time I fought the Garo Master -- it was hard!), but it shouldn't even be compared with Ocarina of Time.

The only Zelda game I own is this one, and I so cherish the memories of Ocarina of Time. Sorry for this long message, but I just had to let it all out. I never knew what power a video game could have until I played this game, and boy, did I love it.

Multimage99 Remembers: Hi VGX. I know you probably get a lot of E-mails but I just have to get through to you. I really want to share my Zelda memeories. Even if you've stoped updating the memories, now that it's 2001.

My name and age I feel are best shrouded in seclusion. But my memories are different. I remember in the beggining, when I first encountered Zelda, about 3 years ago I think. Has it really been that long? It seems like only yesterday. I was at a friends house. He had finished showing me final fantasy VII, and said, "So, you wanna play Zelda?" I simply responded, "Sure. What's Zelda?" In shock, he told me "Only one of the greatest games in the world!" That was when I first laid eyes on Zeldas 1-3. When I saw the little dude in Z3 i said, "So, is that Zelda?" "No, that's link." "Oh. Who's Link?"

I was so foolish. But still to this day I don't understand why it's the Legend of Zelda. I mean, Zelda has almost nothing to do with it in MM!

Anyways, I was obsessed with the game. I never got into Z1 0r 2, but I never really saw them anyway. This guy was so great, he gave me the game! He gave it to me! I spent weeks on it from start to finish, calling him for help every time I needed it. (Which was pretty often). Since then I have become a much better player. It was about a year later I recieved my N 64. I played Mario 64 for about 3 months, I think. I thought it was the most incredible thing I had ever seen. But then, I saw the commercials for Zelda 64. "Dad, you have GOT to get me that! Get it get it get it!"

I was like an infant. So childish. By Christmas it was mine. Not a gold version but mine nontheless. It was Mine! Screw my second cousins, I couldn't find my way into the doddongo's cavern! Family, who needs it? Just let me play! I could almost see Link swiping off mario's fat head as the game quickly replaced M 64 as my favorite. And just when I thought Zelda had reached the pinnacle, a friend of mine gave me a letter she received from Nintendo. It read as follows:

Surely you've all heard of Link's new adventure, where he must scour the four corners of a doomed world called Talmina which is actually a parallel universe to Hyrule and stop the moon from falling within three days. Or was that news just Epona breath? Majora's Mask.

I was hooked. I was mad in love. And it was part of a special offer, which included the collectors edition game, the game guide, the sound-track, and a twelve month subscription to Nintendo power! And it was only 50 $! It was a very happy Christmas that year.

However, probably one of my greatest memories of Zelda of all time was the day I found your sight. Were it not for your sight, I couldn't be listening to Saria's Song Techno dance, and I wouldn't be sharing these memories with you. Well I hope you've enjoyed hearing my memories, and may the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce.
