ANTICIPATION OF MAJORA'S MASK

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is approaching release in America. For Nintendo 64 fans, they are releasing the game in the Gold Cartridge to those who pre-order, and the game itself releases on October 26th, the same day as Playstation 2 and Final Fantasy IX. That single day has to probably be the most monumental day in Video Game history thus far. As time has passed since I first saw the beginnings of this game when it was called, "Zelda: Gaiden" then later, "The Legend of Zelda: The Continuing Saga" I have developed a healthy curiousity about the game. At first, I was rather skeptical that it would be worth playing but as I learned more, and more about the game, I came to realize that this game may very well be the best Zelda game ever. The proof is in the pudding so, I'll still wait and see just what comes up on October 26. This section is for you to voice your opinions on what you think the game will be like. Feel free to discuss your anticipation and overall enthusiasm toward this video game. Will it be everything Nintendo claims it to be? Or just a lame duck slapped with the Zelda name on it to cash in gamer's loose cash on October 26?

Sorry, I'm not taking any more responses to this section because Majora's Mask is released already as of 10/24/2000

[email protected] Anticipates: how you doing Video Gammer X?

well from what i've read and seen of the game; i think it will be a fun game to play. the reason why we got this game is nintendo wanted to see what they could do with the z64 game engine.

i think it will have tons of puzzles and enimes to defeat. i think it will have temples or shrines in it (but i doubt it because of the 3 day thing).

it should be a fun game with all the running around and a new world to discover. Not to mention the secret behind Majora's Mask.....

What causes nintendo to come up with this stuff? who knows but lets cross our fingers and hope for the best as Majora's Mask is around the corner.

Evan Port Anticipates: Well, for the past month now I have highly anticipated the next Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda:Majora's Mask. I've read about it constantly, looked at every screenshot known to man, and checked your page a few times a week to eagerly search for updates. 3 nights ago I had a dream I was in Termina. I was running around looking for my Ocarina of Time. I also remember seeing a rabbit (Don't ask) and Clock Town. I can't stand waiting two months. Oh well, I'll go through and beat all the other Zelda games to pass the time. In order of when they came out (Zelda,Link's Adventure,A Link to the Past,Link's Awakening DX,Ocarina of Time).I'm preordering my copy in a few weeks when I'm able to. I wish I could get Majora's Mask the morning of Oct. 26th, but it looks like I'll have to wait an extra 10 hours...Damn!

Yo VGX, great sites!

Brian Anticipates: My await for Zelda Gaiden (or whatever it's name is now) Is growing, growing bigger each day as I wonder what It will be like, what will happen in it, what new faces will apear? I can still remember, and allways will, the way my heart jumped when I turned on The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. The way the sun rose, the way Link Galloped across the feild of Hyrule, I new a true classic was at my hands, and I had to play it. Beleive It or not, I finneshed Zelda 64 In less then a week. I was 14 at the time and boy, I played the game day In and out. When I got up, I ate, got on Zelda, played It untill I needed to eat again, then played Zelda etc. until I had to go to bed. Once I stayed up till 4:00 am playing Zelda. Which I new wasnt really good for me. I beat the game with allmost everything In my hands. I can still remember the way I would cassually get stuck in places, then ride my horse to clear my mind. What a true, classic adventure Zelda64 was. I can only hope gaiden or majora's mask can equal up to half the game Ocarina of Time was. If so, I will be satisfied. And THAT, is my anticipation. (sorry about the poor spelling).

James Lincoln Wrote (Very Well I Might Add):Title: Can it Compare By: James Lincoln AKA Linkoln

It will be two months and two days until Zelda 6 comes out. I have my preorder slip in my pocket right now. I carry it everywhere I go.

I preordered Majora's Mask at the same store from which I preordered Ocarana of Time. When I was preordering the game a month ago the clerk told me that I should try to get it on the day of its first release because Playstatin 2 is coming out that day and the store will be packed. But I don't care, I will be there that same day no matter what.

I am anticipating its release, I am excited to explore new places in Hyrule that I had not been able to before. That is what makes the Zelda series great, there is always the next, further, and more difficult ground to trample upon. It was such an overwhelming feeling when I first found Gerudo Valley in Zelda 64. A whole new foreign village with so many new people to talk to a sites to see! Those types of things are what I am excited about, that is what I am anticipating from Majora's Mask.

But, can it compare to the anticipation I had for the Nintendo 64's first Zelda?

Ever since I heard that Nintendo was going to release a 64 bit system I was excited about a potential new Zelda game. One to top perhaps even A Link to the Past. How much larger would it be? How big would the levels get? How great would the music be? Mostly, how many completely different places and characters would there be to explore, and discover, and talk to, and to help you through the quest one sentence at a time.

Some time after the Nintendo 64 actually came out Zelda 64 was being created. The delays were seemed to continue and with each one I grew more and more anxious to have the new game. I became especially eager the year before it was released, visiting the video game stores and asking if they knew the release date.

I went to on a tour of Europe in the summer of '98, and while I was in Switzerland (I also walked on the bridge in Lucern that has little triforce symbols on it mentioned somewhere in VideogamerX's Odyssey site) I found this old broken castle ruin on top of a hill that had trees growing in side of it among the broken grey-brick walls. The trees were so dense that they created a shadow - it reminded me of the Lost Woods in Zelda 3. The air was just right that day, puffy white clouds and a cool breeze overlooking a small town amid green rolling hills. The scene felt like Zelda all over. It stoked my imagination for how good the game could be. If they could make the rain feel so real in the super nintendo version imagine what the Nintendo 64 would be capable of.

Anyway when I got home from Europe near the first of August I went the next day to purchase my Zelda 64. They told me it wouldn't be released until November. Arrrgh! My anticipation had become desparation...I became a Zelda fanatic. By the end of the month I had beaten all the zelda games. (Both quests of the first again, A. of Link with out saving, Lttp for the zillionth time, and Link's Awakening for the first.) I made drawings of things I wanted to see in Zelda 64 and even made a short Zelda movie using the tedious Mario Paint game.

School...
By October 30th I had my preorder slip. I would get a T-shirt and a calender for my preorder, and of course the limited gold cart. I created a T-shirt with my preorder slip number on it and in big letters wrote LOZ64 below.

On November 23 I wore all green to school. I left during lunch and sped to the mall to make my purchase. Certainly the first person in school to get it. Right when I had it in my hands I held it up like Link does when he acquires a triforce piece. I was so excited.

I sped back to school and made it before the bell. I wore my zelda shirt into Calculus and my friend gave me five.

Right after that class (and not learning any thing due to the excitement) I had 20 minutes before Cross Country practice - it was in season you know. So I sped home and played it, rumble pack and all. The title screen came up and I sat and enjoyed it before I played.

In the following few weeks I would stay up late playing, talking to every one in the game going everywhere, getting everything. I was extremely busy with four AP (college) classes and Varsity Athletics, not to mention a girlfriend I almost lost becase of my excessive playing. But I was always faithful to the game. I beat it, and then found all the heart pieces and then found all the skulltillas, with out a strategy guide. I still play it, as a hobby now and not my way of life. (I was on the twelve step Zelda program for a while).

I hope that The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask can do this for me too. Not that I want it to devour my life, rather I wish that it will give me the same desire to explore, the same need to find out everything that everything has to tell me. I admit that I did want more from Zelda 64, I think we all did (evidence in the frenetic search for the triforce). I admit that I have even dreamed of discovering new places in Zelda 64 that no one has ever seen before.

I am anticipating the possibility of these from Majora's Mask. I am also anticipating the possibility that it will give me more of the excitement that I got from Zelda 64. I am anticipating a game that will give me those few areas to explore that Zelda 64 failed to provide me with.

[email protected] Anticipates: From what I've heard this game wil probably be very different from all the other Zelda's, but it will be fun playing in a world thats a little strange with characters that look the same but are different. I also can't wait to see Oni Link, the "grown up" Link in this game.

Bobby Kelchner Anticipates: First off....I just want to say that you have wounderful sites and it's about time you updated them. Well, as good as OoT and of all the reveiws and stuff like that, I cannot wait for it. Everything that I 've heard was positive remarks about the game, soooooo it must be good. Every Zelda fan out there that doesn't have the import version from Japan, are waiting impatiantly (and some patiantly) for the realse date of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The game is going to be a smash it and will be able to take on the PS2.

Gimdin7 Anticipates: I must say I've been anxiously awaiting Majoras Mask. I believe you yourself VGX, said that this would be the Super Mario Bros. 2 of the Zelda Series. It looks like you might be right. SMB2 was innovative for its time: Different Character with different attributes. I think that Majoras Mask will surprise us all. I also believe that MM will be just as good, if not better than other OOT (as long as they pick up a better story and ending it'll be fine :-)). I also really cannot wait to see the intricate parts of MM, like what happens on all the different times of day. The Masks, as well look interesting ... if some of the other gamers out there have read some of the IGN article, they'll know what I mean ;) To sum it up, I think that MM will surpass everyone's expectations, despite Miyamotos absence from the project.

[email protected] Anticipates: Hello, I am emailing about my anticipation for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Personaly I am a little worried, after finding out more about it, it seems that many people think it wont do very good, what with the strange theme and all. I still plan to buy it but I really hope its easier than it sounds, I am not that great at video games but with zelda video games I knew I could take my time and finish it correctly but this new one is timed so I dont know what I will do. Not only is it timed but when your time is up you have to be at that big clock to enter a door that will take you back, what if you dont make it does that screw your game and you cant go back to a saved spot, and what if there is not enough time to get there from your saved spot, Lets hope that that slow down time song for the ocarina will help. I think this game will be a good extention to Ocarina of time but I am just a little paranoid about it.

[email protected] Anticipates: As for my anticipation of the Game I agree with you, i'll have to find out for myself wether it's good or not. I'm going to pre-order the game so i might snatch a 1.0 version with allot of glitches perhaps.

Keep up the good work on your site, i really love it.

[email protected] Anticipates: First i just want to say your sights are the best gaming sights I have ever been to. I Personally cant wait for Zelda Majoras Mask to come out. I Preordered it about five days ago and today is August 26. you may say i am crazy but i wanted the Gold holographic version of the game so of course i preodered. I cant wait I am sort of glad school is starting so i will have to think about other things the next 2 months. That is very strange for me to want to go to school but it will make time go faster. Long Live Zelda

Armitage Anticipates: My anticipation is through the roof for majoras mask. I am a huge Zelda64 FREAK and im sick of playing OoT (beat it 35 times 10 times on my cartridge and 25 other cartridges) At my high school i get people coming up to me (that i dont know) and asking me questions because im the supposed "Zelda Master" in my school. "How do you beat the water temlpe?" "can you beat the running man?" "where's the triforce at?" are common questions that i recieve. In Jr High school (2 years ago) i had 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders coming up to me with their cartridges asking me if i could beat the water temple, forest temple, etc for them. Ive played that game so much that i sucked the entertainment value in it dry. With new games coming out for the N64 ive coped the anticipation for MM but not completly. Rainbow Six, Rayman 2, and Perfect Dark have calmed the craving but not stopped the urge for zelda. Zelda 64 was a game (when it was released) that made me get up early for school so i could play it. And all day during school thats all i thought about. "who could want the spooky mask?, dampe' maybe?" and other questions filled my head and beat up my schoolastic attention span. After every screenshot entry at Nintendo.com i would be thinking about the storyline of the new game. Adult Link?? Malon....ADULT MALON??? will link get a spouse/girlfriend in this game? Is this Majora Dude the equivilant of Gannondorf? will gannondorf return?? hrmmm but the biggest question that plagued my enquiring mind was:

IS THERE GONNA BE ANY DAMN TRIFORCE!??!

Some of the questions were answered buy many updates and info. Note the key word: Some. Not all. Curiosity, excitement, anticipation, and the zelda urge inside me waits for the fateful day of October 26. The one thought thats still in my mind is the question about glitches. Will nintendo f*ck up in some spots like OoT leaving certain unwanted replay value that is gold for gamers and webmasters. Will we ever find out about the elusive exclusive princess zelda? Or links past?? possibly his mother?? who knows. Time will tell. Time......the key factor....72 hours until Acpocolipse, hell on earth, Armeggedon, or certain death, unless a young hyrulian boy and his trusty sword can stop it. The questions are everywhere but until October 26, the answers are distant.

[email protected] Anticipates:From what I've seen of Majora's Mask it looks like it will be interesting to play, but will not come close to the Ocarina of Time in terms of quality and storyline. I know that I really can't pass judgment on a game that I've never played but it just doesn't look as well put together. It seems that, despite the prospect of the moon crashing into "Anti- Hyrule", (obviously a huge disaster), the game does not really take itself seriously. It's more like a strange and almost comical alternative to the grandeur and scope of OoT. Even the former games in which Link was depicted as a ridiculus looking elf seemed less comical. I have grown up playing the Zelda games and I sincerely hope that this will not stain Zelda's shining example of what games should be like. I believe that your comments on whether or not it will be a great game, or merely an attempt to cash in on the Zelda craze were insightful. Personally I believe the latter is the most likely. It also looks even less mature than the last game. Don't get me wrong, I thought OoT was a great game. I've never been sucked into a game the way I was with that one. It's just that after playing games like Final Fantasy VIII I find myself craving for a more mature storyline. I realize Nintendo feels they must uphold their reputation as a family system, but the whole concept of Majora's Mask seems like it could be a Saturday morning cartoon. When I found out that Link would be able to change into other creatures it sounded kinda cool. I almost fell of my chair when I learned Link would be turning into a Deku Scrub. Who the hell came up with that one? I would also be very dissapointed if a substantial portion of the game is not devoted to Link as an adult. When it comes out I am most definitely going to buy it, and I sincerely hope I am proven wrong. I may be saying something totally different in 2 months. I am greatly anticipating the game and am eager to see if I am wrong. If I'm right than at least it's 2 months closer to the GameCube Zelda.

Morgan Walker Anticipates: VGX, first and foremost i want to compliment you on the hard work and effort you put in to making your glorius websites. you have inspired me to make websites of my own. i have 2 published and 1 under construction. anyway i will get to what i am writing for. one word defining Majora's Mask: Spectacular. this game is on the top of my list of must buys and i will tell you why. in this game is more depth than 30 squaresoft games. think about it. the characters change what they are doing from day to day. one day they could be shopping or another they could be doing something completely different. and with the huge amount of characters in the game you begin to feel the shear depth. you have to help each one of these characters. and that is just the sidequest.Re living the same 3 days over and over seemed sketchy to me at first, but then I realized this just adds to the depth. You will have to plan carefully what you need to do before you have to make it back to the clocktower and go back in time. this adds a sense of urgency and exitement at the same time. i can see wet trousers in my future, can you imagine being at the clocktower with 3 seconds left, despretly running for the doorway?! i sure can. besides the revouloutionary gameplay, there are also the stunningly huge environments and awesome graphics. Compare the town with the clocktower and the market in zelda 64.this game, in my opinion will be the best zelda yet. Oni Link alone is enough to get me to buy this game.

[email protected] Comments: I think the game will be just as good as if not better than ocarina of time. there are supposed to be more character interactions. I hope this site will one day be just as good as you Oddity Of Hyrule site. Heck, I would gladly take half as good, because Oddity Of Hyrule is by far the best site on the internet. Thanks for all your hard work.

[email protected] Anticipates: First of all, I am not a veteran gamer. Zelda 64 was the second videogame I played! But it was Immideatly an obsession!! It's the best game I've seen to date!

Now, 1 year later I've compleatly riped the game apart. I know every secret, every corner and every inch of the game. I've even figured out how it was programmed!

I am waiting impatiently for Oct 26. I've avoided all the sites with walkthroughs and spoilers. When I get Majora's Mask the first thing I'm going to do is watch the start screen. Then, after a while, I'll press start...... After that, I don't know......

[email protected] Anticipates: The game is going to be phat, and i am definently going to get it on the very first day that it comes out, and i will take the following day off school (you should too). But you know what really pisses me off, is that I have known of this game since roughly july of last year, and the wait is very painful (the same thing will happen when nintendo announces the release of the next console, the gamecube, which is likely slated for a november 2001 release) but that dosent anger me, that thing that blows is that Majoras Mask has been 2 years in development, and those assholes over at sony could have developed it in about 3 months. So what the graphical quality would suck, but there probably would be about 10 additional zelda titles out for the system. The only reason that I am not getting PS2 is because there is no zelda games on it, and it is released the same day as Majoras Mask.

Mark Bradkins Anticipates: Hiya VGX. As far as I can tell, Majora's Mask is going to just plain be the best game of all time. hy, I' not good with long sentences that are pretty. But, I am good with discovering little oddities. Hehe, get it, odditiy. Anyway, if I get a little off subject, pardon, but this is something that is really making me anticipate this game even more. That site,www.z-science.com, is actually more of a sub-site. If you go to www.radiozelda.com, you will find more odd things, but the site links right to z-science. Anyway, as I was looking through there, (I had gotten there from IGN64) I automatically saw all those anagrams and such. And as you know, the site is bascially just giving the storyline to Zelda majora's Mask. Well, it seems to me that more of the plot may be being revealed. Here, "Unfortuantely, our worlds are linked on every level", not a direct quote, but it makes me think.. Is this actually part of the game? Are they stating in that nice Subtle Nintendo way that Termina and Hyrule are linked and thats why are hero doesn't just get the hell out of dodge? Whoa, I need a breather. Anyway, there are lots of things like that that have a good chance of being part of the game. One of my paranoid guesses is maybe Termina is a ctually another realm and Gannon is going to destroy Hyrule throught that...AH! Anyway, I think I may have gotten a little off track, do with this what you wish, but those are some reasons I am REALLY anticipating MM.

[email protected] Anticipates: oh i cant wait till majora's mask to come out ive played every single zelda game and once i heard of majora's mask i almost freaked i couldnt wait to see the story im a person who is really good at telling if a game has a good story so far all zeldas have . heh i already got a reserved majora's mask i also played majora's mask at softwere ect but.... it was in japanese i couldnt get no where because you need to talk to the towns people and more as i played i was a wierd little deko shrub type thing with an attack of some sort of spiral the graphics where amasing... i cant wait till it comes im really into puzzle and rpg games heh majora's is both. aww man there is one problem.. when ever i get really excited about something and i have to wait awhile for it i useually just mope around hoping that it'll come soon *sigh* oh well :)

Rachel L. Oliver Wrote: I have been eagerly awaiting Majora's Mask since I beat Ocarina of Time in January '99. With about two months before the release, I've been working like crazy tryin to beat the only two Zelda games I haven't beat: Link's Awakening and The Adventure of Link. After all these years, I'm finally in Turtle Rock and the Thunderbird Palace. Not to mention rebeating the other three I have beat many times over and over again. Anyways, I don't doubt for a minute that Majora's Mask will be awesome, all the import reviews I've read have given it thumbs up, and Nintendo rarely disappoints me. The only negative reviews I've seen are people who have bashed it because it has a similar concept to the movie "Groundhog Day." But, those are the same kind of people who said Final Fantasy VIII is the worst game ever made simply because it's not Final Fantasy VII, so their opinion doesn't really matter to me. I don't think I've ever been this anxious to own a Zelda game, but then again, the only one I actually bought brand new was Ocarina of Time, so I don't know if that counts. Another reason to look forward to it is because it looks to be the most original Zelda game so far: it's not in Hyrule; there's no Zelda or Ganon (there could possibly be Zelda, but for there to be a Ganon would throw off the entire story of A Link to the Past); and, relying more on masks than weapons (well, in Zelda II, you kinda did that with magic, but then again, the items were also really vital in that game). Another thing that got me going was that Z-Science website. All the anagrams of Zelda-related characters and Nintendo employees, plus the whole "scientific discovery" mimicking the story of Majora's Mask. All in all, I'll definitely be pre-ordering this game soon, guaranteeing myself a gold cart to go along with the other three I have (unless Link's Awakening and Link to the Past had gold carts, I lucked into having every golden Zelda).

Anthony C. Anticipates: I think majora's mask is going to rock. About a year ago i heard about zelda gaiden and even till today i still go from site to site looking for majora's mask facts and pics until one day i stumbled into odysee of hyrule then i found this place.MM looks great by the graphics, the mask thing sounds really cool, and the three day thing doesn't sound very complicating atleast thats what i found on the internet.

X13Neo13X Anticipates: I got a chance to mess around with the Japanese version of the game while I was in a local game trading store. They had it in their testing area and the employee there let me get my grubby hands on the controller for about 5 minutes. Someone had already started a game, and from where they were, Link had the Deku mask on (the one with the face of the little guy that spits stuff at you)

I couldn't do much and of course couldn't read what anyone was saying. I got to see the giant clock while exploring, it was awesome. I couldn't get the mask off. Anyways, enough babbling. I've been looking forward to playing the new Zelda game and that little tease of it made it worse. I can only hope this one can bring all the joy the first one brought and leave me with many great memories.

[email protected] Anticipates: Zelda... Majora's Mask, I don't really like that name very much. The whole idea of another Zelda game is really exciting, but after I read your web site (good job by the way, I love your web page of Odyssey of Hyrule also) I noticed that the game is timed?? Only 3 days to beat the game, so... I wonder what happens if you just let the game sit there and not do anything? The thing about the game revolving around masks just doesn't seem right, not like the typical Zelda game would be like. If the game was timed then I don't think that it would be as much fun, you would feel too rushed and you wouldn't be able to explore it all, and the game would feel much shorter. I really hope Nintendo doesn't let us all down with the second Zelda 64 game, I am a major FF fan also and with FFIX coming out on the same day, I am looking forward to FFIX more than Zelda, much more, but I still do want to play Zelda, Majora's Mask. Does anyone else agree with me?

[email protected] Anticipates: I want to warn all those gamers out there NOT to use a stradegy guide,or any other outside help,to compleate this game. Not even for the tiniest puzzles you get stuck on.I used a stadegy guide to find my way through the lost woods, and to complete the water temple.Which I know is not alot, but i seriously have this feeling that I did not truely beat theat the game, that the guide did.If I could erase from my mind all I know about Zelda 64,believe me,I would do it again and again.

With that said I think Majora's mask will be a great game.Possibly the best game ever. The only flaw it could have is excessive mask usage.Like not having the hookshot,or the arrows, because they would be replaced with, lets say, deku scrub for arrows and, well, some other creature for the hookshot. The items are an important part of the game for me.

Other than that I don't see how this game could go wrong.More diverse relationships with characters, new areas to explore, and(I dobt it)the possibility of obtaining the triforce.(to wish away the moon mabey?) One thing which I really wanted to be in zelda 64 was a multiplayer deathmatch mode.I could picture myself fighting my friends the way I did with Dark Link.Who,by the way,was the only difficult enimie in the game. That would be so cool if Majora's mask had that feature. Hmm....I just thought of another possible problem with Majora's Mask.... What a cynisist I am!(did I spell that right?)Zelda 64 was rushed,so many unused areas and objects in the game.Claw marks on the tree in lake hylia,no triforce, the top of the windmill in kakarico village, the Scare crow summoning spot in zora's fountain(adult link),I could go on and on.You can be sure nintendo will make sure this game gets out the 26'th,what with the Playstation 2 and final fantasy 9 coming out then. This game may be rushed. I know,I'm sorry,I'm a "glass is half empty" kind of guy.Don't listen to me, it's depressing......

Evan Port Got the Rare Opportunity to Play Zelda: Majora's Mask First Hand: Hey VGX

When I went to Toys r us to preorder Zelda I stumbled upon a preview version of Majora's Mask.I'll tell you some info I got.

Clock Tower Town-I walked around a little. Saw construction going on. The Boss yelled at a guy for staring at the sky. I took a look at Clock Tower. Truly amazing sight. I saw a guard blocking a place. I talked to him and moved through the shadowy entrance. I stumbled upon....

Woodfall- Didn't really look around much here. I saw a tree with a Skull Kid drawing. It was drawn by Tael and Bell. The story goes like this....

Skull Kid was asleep when he met Tael and Bell. He became good friends with them. Bell explains to Link that Skull Kid was always pulling pranks. One day he saw a man wearing Majora's Mask. He took it and stared at it a second... Then he put it on.

Goron Race-The baby goron leader told me to race..So I did...Goron Link could move very fast. If you had enough magic spikes would come out of you so you could ramm other Gorons. There were magic jars that looked like green potion in a bottle. They break when you roll by. It wasn't too hard. I got first, but don't cut EVERY corner because there's a bunch of trees that you'll hit somewhere.

Zora Link-Don't remember where I was. Some kind of waterfall place. Swimming is a lil hard to control at first, but after a minute you'll get used to it. Diving ROCKS!

Masks- I caught a glimpse of all the masks. No Oni Link mask. The preview would only let me try on one mask (It was like a red cap or something.)I saw a ghost mask, giant, zora, goron, deku, great fairy, frog mask, mask of truth (all the masks for z64.)

Termina- Wanna hear somethin weird?Remember when I told you about my dream? LOOKED ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE MY DREAM! Weird huh... I saw a wall with design on it. Then I rode Epona and checked out the bow. Looks a little different when you shoot it.

Link-Taller..Weird shield. Looks bigger..I'd say he's 11 or 12, but who knows..I heard he was 8 in Z64.

Items- Only saw the Bow, didn't have enough time to check out the items..Sorry!

Well, Let me tell you VGX. I was aching for more playing time! I was lucky cuz it was 8:30pm and all the lil kids were gone so nobody was there cept me!I got about 15 mins in for the game while my mom looked for the preorder slip n went to da bathroom.

It's worth it..Trust me...

[email protected] Anticipates: Well, I have Majora's Mask on reserve, but it wont get in until October 26 (I think), which is TOO DAMN LATE!!!!!! They had a demo version at Toys'r'us, and I tested a bit of it (a water level of some sort) out, taking on and off the Zora's mask, walked around, punched a little, and I think this game will be totally awsome. I'm impatient, so a little less then a month will seem like an eternity (I hope it wont, because it's all that much longer that I have to wait!)....

[email protected] Anticipates: hey I can't wait for Majora's mask! I think this website "the oddity of hyrule" is so great because of the awesome background music from the windmill, and it gives the whole site an eerie feeling, like it just makes the anticipation so much more exciting, know what i mean? This new game is going to be so awesome! It'll be a whole new adventure to go through and play at night time, then talk to your friends about it at night and tell them about the mystery, and what you are going to do next! It's gonna be awesome, and I can't wait to fight Odolwa!

Gamer J (Jen) Anticipates: I am 100% sure, i'm going to buy Majora's Mask. But if it takes 3 "Game Days" to beat, is it worth it? I don't wanna buy a $60.00 game for me to be able to beat it in a day. I don't even know what a "Game Day" is. Well, If you have any idea, i would appreciate an e-mail. Also, is the Release Date still October 26??? I hope you write back~ And I LOVE YOUR ZELDA SITES!!!!!!! (please don't forget them!!!)

[email protected] Anticipates: hey video gamer x, i just wanted to let you know if you knew about the offer nintendo is giving us..the one where you get the majora's mask game, the players guide, nintendo magazine, and the soundtrack cd all for $69.95($89.95 in canada)? just wanted to let you know cause i got it in the mail the other day and i cant wait! I saw a preview of it at a toys 'r' us near me and wow! it was awsome the graphics are so much better and i didnt play the whole thing but it seems they cut down on the glitches a bit...well i have to go now later!

Hmssec- Anticipates (or maybe doesn't): Hey-Big updates. Nice majora's mask page-well, If you want to know how I feel about this game is--shame me----Its-kind-of-stupid! What is this place?? its not hyrule, where you are supposed to play??! And where is Zelda coming in? I haven't heard of her-Z---E---L---D---A. you tell me, this is NOT of Zelda tradition. Cuz it aint.HELLO-Cows being sucked up by aliens ? I dont get this. Get it thru your heads. cattle being kiddnapped by UFO's. that....how do I say this-- Dont sound like swords and shields, Princesses, Music (k,there is the great music..) Epic? I dont think so. Only gamecube will epic OOT.know what? Ive only played OOT and LTTP,and they were good! I cant tell you how many good times Ive had with those games,And Majors's Mask S---U--C--K--S. there. I said it and maybe you can give up all that Epic battle- zelda- dungeons- ganon-Etc But I aint.

~MoonstalkerZ~ Explains and Anticipates: I can pretty much sum up my feelings in a couple sentences: It's Zelda. It's new. That equals a really cool game.

Beyond that, I don't think you can really copmpare MM to OoT. They're way to different for that. Because of that, I can't base my predictions of whether it'll be good or not solely on the fact that I absolutely loved OoT. Even with that in mind, I still think I will get immense satisfaction from MM, although whether it'll equal OoT is a puzzle. Because of their differences, it's practically impossible to look at the games as a whole. Their different properties have to be summed up separately.

The plot's a toughie- I'd have to say it's very nearly a tie.. While the MM plot isn't the best in the world (I mean, the moon falling down?! Come on! Sounds like a fairy tale), it's extremely different from any other Zelda game I've ever seen. On the other hand, OoT might have had a more 'epic fantasy' plot, but it's definately not original- some evil guy taking taking over the world is the plot for most fantasy stories. (Still, there really aren't many other plot choices in the field, so I'll give OoT half a point out of pity.)

Gameplay itself is also hard to evaluate, considering I haven't actually played MM. But from what I've seen, I can make some assumptions. I think the elaboration on the mask idea gives MM a definate twist that OoT just doesn't have. While it doesn't seem that you get as many items in MM, I think the masks make up for that- besides gaining masks, you also gain different attacks and musical instruments at the same time. Furthermore, with the masks and three definately different days, it makes gameply much more varied than in OoT, or so I hope. Wearing different masks on different days and at diffent times of day and talking to different people gives you TONS of different responses. It was a major gripe of mine that there were so few things the characters said- I had expected more of Nintendo. I also get the feeling that the puzzles will be more challenging, the masks being the cause. MM wins this round, OoT- 1/2, MM- 1.

With visuals, I'll definately give OoT a point. While the actual graphics just might be better in MM, the colors and design are much too bizarre for my taste. In OoT, you KNEW you were in a fantasy world, but a fantasy world that was almost real, and not all that different from ours. In MM...well, it's almost as if it was designed by aliens with complete different senses of taste from ours, and that just can't be accounted for. (But then, the world of MM is a parallel universe of what I consider a parallel universe, so maybe it sort of makes sense, but I still don't like it.) OoT- 1 1/2, MM- 1.

Next category- mystery. In OoT, pretty much everything is laid out for you, so there isn't much room for any. The only actual mystery I can think of is the matter of Shiek and the Seventh Sage. But if you've read as many books, watched as many movies, and played as many video games as I have, you probably knew from the start who Shiek actually was; and the whole Seventh Sage deal wasn't presented to you clearly enough for it to become a mystery. In MM, though, the whole thing's a big mystery- who is this Majora guy? Is he just a deranged Stalchild, or someone much more important? Ganondorf, who wants to stop Link from preventing the moon from destroying Talmina because it would also destroy Hyrule, as was hinted at the z-science site? Zelda, who LED him there to stop it? Some new enemy yet to be revealed? DARK LINK??? And just why is the moon falling down anyway??? Definate point for MM. OoT- 1 1/2, MM- 2.

This next and last one is based on sheer gut feeling, so I'll only give it half a point. And here it is-- I think I'll like OoT better. It's a tie.

And EVEN AFTER ALL THAT, I'm still majorly anticipating MM. Like I said before, it's Zelda, it's new, what could go wrong?...

Matt M. Anticipates: Hey. Well I went to Toys R' Us today and they had The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask on display and I played it. I am not sure if it was just a sample or the full version of the game because I saw the cartridge and it looked just like the full version cartridge, I think. However, of course, they weren't selling the game yet. Well I played Majora's Mask and started out in the clock town. I was Deku Link and he had a type of spinning attack. There was a North, South, East, and West clock town. If you remember the woman that was the Bombchu Bowling manager in Ocarina of Time, she was a manager as something else in this game. I went into her shop and I had to pay 10 rupees to play a game where there is a treasure chest far off in the distance and you had to get to it in a alotted amount of time. Sounds easy dosen't it, well it wasn't. As you walked toward the chest, walls came up in your way when you stood right in front of them so you had to make your way to the chest going past all of those walls in the alotted amount of time. Also, I went in a room that had what I think and am pretty sure where the dancing couple in Hyrule Market town and when link was an adult they went to Kakarhiko Village in Ocarina of Time. They were up on like a podium thing dancing. This time they weren't as mean as in Ocarina of Time. They said something about bombs and said that I didn't have any so I couldn't do something (obviously it was some kind of game). I saw the clock thing and I think you have to go inside the clock to get to that Woodfall place...I am pretty sure that is was I did anyways. The thing about it is that makes me not sure if it was the full version of the game or not was because I went in Woodfall and tried to make some progress but I went down far enough to where I didn't see anymore doors or anything so either it wasn't the full version of the game or it possibly was a puzzle that I needed to solve. Of course there are citizens of the clock town spreaded out. One I remember talking to offered me either a Woodfall map or clock town map and the clock town map was 10 rupees and the Woodfall one was about 30 rupees i'm not sure. So anyways, I do have much anticipation on this game. I didn't get to see the whole thing good, however, I did get a glance. I look forward to the great graphics and characters.....I still wonder if Zelda is going to be in the game too. I would appreciate if you would post this in the anticipation section of your site and if anywhere else please put "Thanks to Matt M. for this information." Thank you and keep up the good work on Odyssey of Hyrule...probably the best Zelda site I have ever seen. Also I think that you could do the same with Oddity of Hyrule. Thank you and have a nice day.

Anthony Cuda Explains: I got the chance to play majora's mask i went to wal-mart and went to the videogames and they had majora's mask there to play. I started out as deku link and went around for awhile talkng to people i saw a little kid and he told me something that i had to go see jim in north clocktown i went there and i saw this guy that had red face paint on and i bought a map from him for clocktown i looked and saw some bushes used the spin attack to chop them down and i hit a couple and then they went into the wall i saw that kid jim and he said that he was practicing his blowgun and he wouldn't talk to me unless i popped a ballon i didn't have any deku nuts because the kid that played before me didn't get any and he also went to the wrong place and i didn't have any weapons to use so i saw one of those things you can go in and pop up so i went in it and popped up and glided over a fence and i saw a hole i went in it and there was a game where you had to glide to movig platforms snd if you touch the ground the game is over i tried and messed up because the tv was so high up i left and started playing around until the end of the third day the scene was cool when the moon crashed into the world. From what i played it seems majora's mask is the sweetist 64 game the graphics didn't get much better but they where already great, the controls were the same as ocarina of time, the sound is great, and it was very fun to play.

Andrew Ropp Anticipates: Oh man I can't wait to get the new Zelda game! It looks sooo cool! I'm probably gonna skip the 26th and on the 25 I'm probably gonna sleep on the sidewalk to be the first one to get it! My friends think that I'm wierd because me and my friends are into heavy metal and stuff. Well zelda rocks.

Tayonie Emphatically Proclaims: OOOOOHHHH! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! *Jumps up and down like an overexcited little kid.*

Mark H. Habermeyer DDS Adds Novicane to: Hey Video Gamer X whats sup. First of all, I just want to state two things. The first is that you make the BEST OF THE BEST websites. I always go here and try to read whatevers posted.

The second thing is about how much I am annoyed about what "Hmssec" wrote on the anticipation. He took the game and looked at it by face value. What he sees is this: Link gets trapped into a paralell world with UFOS and the moon is falling. you have three days to beat the game which equals to about 1 hour of game play and thats it.

Wrong

WHAT THE HECK WAS HE THINKING!!! did he only see the screenshots of the UFOS ubducting the cows!! If he haddent just looked at some screenshots, he could have read about how you can revive the three days over and over again by playing the song of time. AND I GOT REALLY ANOYED WHEN HE SAID THAT THIS WOULD NEVER BE CONSIDERED AN EPIC AND IT DOESNT EVEN TAKE PLACE IN HYRULE!! Where the heck did he think Links Awakening took place! No not hyrule but Kohlint Island, but that does not make it a bad game. Links Awakening was a great game, but, oh Im sorry, he dident even bother to go and play it! I like what one of the other people on this anticipation page said: Its new, Its Zelda, that means a great game. That was very true

Whew that took all my anger away to write that. sorry for getting carried away. I am anticipating greatly for MM. It is October 8th today which makes it 18 days until its realesed. Im dieing hear! During the time in the first week of september when I reserved it, to now I have ad to do many things. First I had to start budgeting my money so I could buy the game. Then I started to play all the Zelda games in chronalogical order to pass the time. right now I am to the second to last game, the original zelda. I am on the forth level of the second quest. A lot of time passed and it came to friday october 6. I went to best buy before going to toys r us because my dad had to get something. I was saved by pure luck that day. I got a chance to play the demo, but it happend by luck. Before we were about to leave I forgot that I wanted to check for the price of Playstation because I want it for christmas. I found it, and while I was looking at it I heard the sound of Link getting a ruppee linke in Ocarina of Time. I looked around and put the box down. I finnaly came across a little 3 or 4 year old playing and N64 game. I looked at the TV screen and I gave a gasp. There was Deku Scrub Link walking around in Talmina. I ran back to may dad and asked him if we could stay a little bit longer. He said okay and I went back to the game. I was directing the boy around and telling him where to go because I had read about it in Nintendo Power. Then I asked him politly if I could play. So he gave up the contoller. There I was playing a demo of MM. It was awsome but at the same time hard. It took me a while to get used to popping in and out of the deku flower. I found the stray fairy and brang it back to the fairy fountain to get magic so I could shoot bubbles from my snout. Then I popped the ballon that the Bombers leader Jim was trying to pop. he told me that if I could find all of them by morning that he would give me the code to their secret hidout. I found two of the five but then I had to go. A little disiponted and a little happy, we went to toys r us to get an expansion pak. there was MM again. it was in the middle of talking to the happy mask salesman. This time I hardly did anything before we had to go. I finished talking to him and the exited. That was it. I was very happy the rest of the night.

Well thats all I have to say. sorry for making it so long. please post this on your website in the anticipation section. LONG LIVE ZELDA!!!

[email protected] Anticipates: From the dark and gloomy intro of the game i see this will be a shadowy story of mystery. The graphics are improved and the music is the only thing i havent had an idea about. Hopefully it will furthure enhance the game but i can only wait till it is released. I look forward to playing yet another Zelda title and I anticipate the release.

[email protected]I'm pretty damn anxious!! I've been waiting ever since O.O.T came out for a sequel, and I can't wait to play Majora's Mask!

Wolfimus Prime Anticipates: When I saw the preview on Nintendo's site, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was dumb struck for a few minutes, and have been in anticipation ever since. It was this, and a lowered price, that finally made me buy Zelda: TOoT.

Kat Anticipates: I got to play Majora's Mask today at Walmart (they have it set up so you can play the game on a tv in the store in the electronics section)....I only played it for a few minutes but after playing it I'm even more anxious for Oct. 26th to arrive.....I was in some sort of village (I don't remember what it was called, I think Mushroom village or something) and it was at night....All the moves are pretty much the same as OoT, and if you touch a flaming/flying skull then you get jinxed and you cannot draw your sword...that's pretty much all I got out of it....it seemed to be pretty early on in the game.......I can't wait much longer for it to come out......

Bryan Anticipates: From what I've seen and heard this game will be great! One of the first bosses you face is a jungle creature, and as you begin to beat him he lats out 6 bugs to attack you, while doing this he lets out 300 butterflys that attack you! I've pre-order a game and, personaly, I feel that Hmssec should shut there mouth!

Sarah Anticipates: This game sounds like it will be one of the best games. Let's just hope they don't let them put it on Playstation, they already have to many good games. I don't think some of us will be able to last untill next thursday. Also, I wentshpping and their was a demo of Majora's mask that you could actually play, and it was so cool! I don't hink thursday will come soon enough.

[email protected] Anticipates: I have played to the Zelda 2 demo, and i found it awesome!!! The graphics are so well done, the universe is realist but i found it a little to overwhelming! I couldn t find my way too much stuff to look! And also i think that the story is well set, you dont even know where our model "link" is the only thing you can see, and that looks like link, is a little creature. And when you are arrive to the kid who stole the mask the confrontation is superb, the special effect get the air out of you. But i have to say one thing, the outside world is kind of ugly! I mean its much like zelda 3 on super nes, you go out of a screen and pof! it changed without graduation! I was sorry for this. And as for when you let everyone die, its pretty much like you describe it , they dont who anything except the wave of heat going on the world and link being burn and he dies and game over. Well i find your web site awesome!

Julia Anticipates: think that Zelda: Majoras Mask will be one of the coolest video games ever, if not the best from what I have seen and heard. Now to whatever store that has video games there is a T.V that you can play MM on. Even though I can't wait 'till MM comes out I am not going to play the game.Because if I do I won't be blown away with the graphics, storyline, exc. I think I am going to looove the game, but there are some downs to the game for me.First of all the music that I have heard from MM I'm judging that TOOT has much better music. And secondly the three day thing, I mean what fun is that going to be? You won't have much time to explore all the four (only four?) dungeons. but I sure hope that this game is going to explain some of the mysteries that we all had in TOOT.Like the temperature in Zora's Domian, or the three masks that didn't do anything(Gerudo, Zora,Goron), or the two lovers. Now I think I know that there is going to be nothing with the Triforce. Now I know there is going to be some humor in the game already, like the Pig mask, or the mask that allows you to bomb things....with your head!
Well I have to go now because my mom says we have to go to Whole Foods to buy some bread(How about going to Wal-Markt to buy Zelda MM?)If only if was out yet. Only three more days!

Addison Says: A few days ago, Nintendo gave the rights to Target and some other stores to have a Nintendo 64 set up with Majora's Mask! I actually played the game, but I couldn't get very far because of the automatic 10-minute shut off they had on the store display. From what I did see, the game was pretty cool. There's an opening cinema of Link riding through the forest on Epona. Then, two fairies, a light one and a dark one, along with Majora, come and knock Link out and take Epona. Majora gets Link's ocarina. Then, Link wakes up and Majora runs away with the dark fairy, but the light fairy is left with Link. The light fairy's name is Tael (i think) and serves in place of Navi. Then, you can walk around a strange looking Kokiri Forest, even though there's not much to do. You step through one of those log-looking passage things and into Majora's little lair. Majora says some mean stuff to Link and then turns him into a Deku Scrub. Link is then left in Clock Town and the adventure unfolds. The 72-hour time limit adds a very challenging element to the game. (The time passes the same as it does in Ocarina of Time). Hope you found some interesting info in my e-mail C-ya!

Well good-bye Video Gamer X, and all of you Zelda fans!

Back to the Oddity of Hyrule
