VIDEO GAMER X CLEARS UP SOME LOOSE ENDS

Recently I've been reviewing a large majority of the mail I have received and have become amazed by the total popularity this site has gained since I first started it over a year ago. One thing that I wish I could do is answer everybody that E-mails me, and talk with you or answer your questions. The thing is, it's just impossible. There are literally thousands of letters that come into the Odyssey of Hyrule mailbox every month. I do read all of them, so never feel that your letters fall upon deaf ears (or would it be blind eyes, humph...). One thing that troubles me are the people that do not seem to read the entire site carefully enough to find an answer to their question especially gameplay related. I understand that some of these letters come from young kids who may not be able to decypher my level of vocabulary, but some are just plain indicative of not reading an appropriate section on the site. Then of course there are those letters that just blow me away with the level of content and effort put into them. To those people I say, thank you, for making my E-mail worthwhile. What I'm going to do on this page is to the best of my ability clear up and unresolved issues that seem to reappear in my mailbox on a regular basis or are a general question asked by several people.

To all those who asked, the golden gauntlets can be found in the Shadow Room of Ganon's castle in an invisible treasure chest. I figured the whole Ganon's Castle part of the game was big time easy, so I left it out in the walkthrough, sorry.

No, there is not an obtainable triforce in Zelda 64. Listen, I'm sorry to inform you that Link never gets the (physical object) Triforce in this Zelda because it just isn't part of the storyline of the game. Remember, the essence of the Triforce embeds itself into Zelda, Link, and Ganon. Each and every rumor that is made up about getting it is entirely false. People make these stories up to muddy the waters, make a name for themselves, or annoy a whole bunch of other people. Ariana's Story is Fake. The website that originally reported it said that she revealed her falsification to them, and proved it was all a hoax. Kenneth Burton's rumor is total crap, song of sages and all. The image of the Triforce on the Quest Status is pretty good, but it's more than likely a big fake. Also, I don't know why, but on April 1, (April Fools Day) the official Nintendo website made up a fake story, with screenshots mind you, about obtaining the triforce. For example they said you could purchase it from the store in the Kokiri Forest for 999 rupees or get it from a chest in the Deku Tree. I mean, come on, how could people believe such ludicrious garbage. (but then again people believed my T-Rex parody) Furthermore, there is NO Sky Temple, or secret temple in the middle of Hyrule Field. Please don't send me that movie of Link getting the Triforce out of the rock, I have it, and it's from a very early promo of Zelda. You can view a screenshot from this in the Z-Files as a picture of Link walking up to the Triforce. At one point in time I thought that maybe it was in the game obtainable somewhere, but since then this has been totally irrefutably proven otherwise. The only window of possiblity for the item Triforce is the possibility that it exists buried with the programming (Unimplimented Action?) of the game as data not being used by the main game, or only accessable with Ura Zelda or a Zelda add on. The Only games Link gets the Triforce or parts of it are The Legend of Zelda (NES) , Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) and Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the following Items are not real or do not exist. "The Silver Saddle" "The Golden Saddle" "The Platinum Scale" "The Fire Sword" "The 999 Rupee wallet" "The Golden Boots"

Yes, I'm fully aware that the big blue fairy (You can also see in on the Odyssey of Hyrule Main Page, near the bottom of images) that was seen in the commercial for Zelda 64 is not in the game. This was taken out in both the Japanese and American versions of the game in favor for the slutty looking spotted ones. For what reason, I have no clue.

Yes, I'm also aware that many of the Z-File images are NOWHERE in Zelda 64. I just can't understand why people drill me on this since I've said it more than once before. Those images are not hidden in the game, but rather taken out by the programmers before it went to final production. Also, according to Nintendo, kid Link with Adult Link's items is a result of the Debug Version of the game that testers and programmers use to test every possible scenario.

When I said the mystery of the Extra Masks was solved, I directed you to look at the "Top Secret" section. At the very bottom of that section I discuss masks. In a part of the Lost Woods you will fall into a hole with a sign in it that says "Forest Stage" Use the masks to make the Deku Scrubs give you rupees or increase your "Deku Nut" carrying ability or throw nuts at you.

This one, I have kind of put off, but you can do Swordless Link on version 1.1 or 1.2, maybe even on Foriegn PAL carts but I'm not sure. To do it simply do the trick that allows you to go outside the pond with the fishing pole "Fisherman's Peril", then return to the pond. You should have no weapon equipped to the Sword Button. Save. Reset. Voila! No Sword. I'm not going to credit any one person specifically for pointing this out because really multiple people sent it in at the same time, and really the first guy (the e-mail I lost) should be creditied. Be careful though because if you manage to Equip Biggoron's Sword at the wrong time, you will lose the use of it forever according to some who have done this indirect Swordless Link.

No, I'm sorry none of the stuff on the Video Gamer X's Room page is currently for sale. I mean if you offer me a really great price I might reconsider, but otherwise, it's just for show. Most of that stuff and junk, I'll probably keep until it's worth enormous amounts of money.

No, just because I am now Webmastering a Final Fantasy VIII site, means I've given up on "The Odyssey of Hyrule"

The Hyrule Running Man can not be beaten, no matter what anyone says. All the wacky rumors and crazy procedures are lies. It just wasn't ever programmed to happen. Sorry to disappoint. Yeah, it bugs me too. A Zelda game with an "unsolvable puzzle" is just plain sadistic.

The Pyramid in the Haunted Wasteland is merely a polygon deformation. It is not a hidden temple or the Pyramid from A Link to the Past. That really pissed me too, when I found that one out with the Gameshark.

The square shaped recess at the bottom deepest part of Zora's Domain goes nowhere, no matter if you get there as an adult or a kid. There is no kind of entrance here, although there could have been.

I've told you once, and I'm telling you again, the Owl, Kaebora Gaebora, is NOT Rauru, despite how much the Gossip Stones seem to say about it being so. If he is, then the editiors of the game goofed bigtime because we see the Owl in the future, and past, and we see Rauru only in the Temple of Light in the future, in the dimension of the Sacred Realm. I won't go into that whole Incarnation/Reincarnation thing again, but if you look you can find what I said before on the site.

Yes, I'm aware that the Temple of Light is in the Sacred Realm and is directly tied to the Temple of Time. Rauru's Temple has it's own medallion, song, and arrow, but no official dungeon to explore.

No, the strange hole under the rock near the cave of Farore's Wind that leads to the cliff in Zora's Fountian, has nothing to do with finding the Triforce or lead to anything special except a Gold Skulltula at night. I was pretty disappointed when that was all I found up there considering the Skullwalltulas (the name of those spiders that hang from the ceiling) were invisible. Please, no more about the hole, I've already discussed this.

This message goes out to the poor gamers stuck on the "Impact Gaming Domain" site that hasn't been updated since April 4. THAT SITE IS NO LONGER BEING UPDATED, it's BROKEN. I HAVEN"T DIED. I DIDN'T GIVE UP. PLEASE IF SOMEHOW YOU PSYCHICALLY GET THIS MESSAGE, PLEASE GO THE SITE'S OLD ADDRESS AT HTTP://WWW.TBI.NET/~MAX/ZELDA64.HTM. Those of you that know about this site let your friends know that it is here, post messages on BBS's or newsletters, and tell other sites to relay the message and update links.

You must have a VRML plugin to view the Enchanted Forest. You can download a Plugin called CosmoPlayer from Silicon Graphics Incorporated (SGI) or another VRML plugin/browser from Intervista's Website If you still can't see or properly download "The Enchanted Forest" then it is possible that your computer is too old, you didn't install the plug-in properly, or you are missing a 3-D or Active-X driver or component that I'm not currently aware of. Everything works fine on my machine, which is pretty Joe-average, so their's no reason this shouldn't work.

There is an image on the "Temple of Time Oddities" Page of Rauru and young Link. It's sort of one of those "you've got to wonder" images I wanted to put on that page to see if anyone would notice. No, you never see Rauru, as young Link. That is a Real Pre-Production image and should actually belong in the Z-Files. I don't remember where I got it, but it's really old and was sitting on my Hard Drive long before Zelda was released last year. This counts it out from being fake, so it's just really one of those mysterious images that makes you wonder...

Yes, most definitely according to Nintendo there is a sequel to Zelda 64 coming out soon, maybe even this year considering the Launch of the Sega Dreamcast this fall. (I've already got one pre-ordered) It is safe to assume that in order to compete this coming Christmas Nintendo would release Perfect Dark AND Zelda 64 -2 or Ura Zelda or the Lock-on Zelda. We'll just have to wait and see what new screens and images of this game come up as it approaches completion. Zelda was Nintendo's big payday in 1998, and you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be Take Two in '99, if they can help it. All in all everyone wins out. Nintendo execs get "feelthy" rich and we gamers get to play another cool Zelda game (or a better one). You just can't beat capitalism for providing those little extras in life.

Yes, the debug code DOES work, just like it says.

I've been noticing that the Debug Code has been appearing on other sites with no mention of Me or "The Odyssey of Hyrule" No Names will be mentioned - "Brad Hayes." Please just say it's Video Gamer X's code with Help from T-Dog's "Crooked Cartridge", and provide a link to the Odyssey of Hyrule. That is all I ask. I look forward to cooperation in this regard. Believe me, the very last thing I want to do in the world is put someone's website on "The Wall of Shame"

If there are any more issues you would like me to explain or weren't addressed on this page, then feel free to send me a message. As always I look forward to seeing interesting, insightful, and thought-provoking E-mail.
