Windstar News
For '99 the Windstar got a new look, and two new models, the SE and SEL. The GL designation was dropped, and the line-up consisted of 3.0L, LX, SE and SEL. In 2000, the 3.0L engine, and model, were history for North American Windstars, with all models getting the 3.8L 200hp V-6. For 2001, a new Sport model was added, and the top end was the "Limited".

The LX designation, which in '98 was the top of the line, is continued as the entry level Windstar, and comes standard with the options we outfitted our '98 3.0L with; air, power convenience group, and floor mats. The SE is gone, so the choices are LX, Sport, SEL and Limited. 4 doors are now standard on all Windstars. One new feature that Windstars have had now for a few years, that ours doesn't, is the ability to move the third row bench up to the second row. This is the configuration we would use most of the time if we had a newer Windstar, as we don't usually need to fit more than 5 people at a time. The '01 models had a new grille which is a bit sharper than '00, and a few more safety-related details have been enhanced, too. 2002 models look the same to us. 2003 models are the last Windstars. For details, check the Ford Canada web site.

For the Fall of 2003, Ford will introduce the 2004 Freestar minivan.
For 2008, Ford has abandoned the minivan market in Canada, so we couldn't get a new Windstar even if we were in the market. Although, Ford still make some cool-looking people carriers for the UK.
