ABOUT THE PRIESTESSES OF AVALON

After Mona, the sanctuary at Vernemeton, in North Wales was elevated. Unfortunately, forces in politics both inward and with relation to the Roman occupation drove this settlement into ashes. Many of the daughters of Mona perished in this fire. Incidentally, Vernemeton was rebuilt in later times in Wales, for the continuation of the Welsh traditional Druidism. And then, the sanctuary at Avalon was elevated. It grew rapidly and entered an era of its own, now famously recorded in the Arthurian cycles. Avalon survived the Saxon invasions but as the heart of the land it would not be permitted to continue in a world of fearful Christianity. Avalon now stands between the worlds, it is a land of healing for the spirit. The famous Priestesses of Avalon call out to us through the mists in the pages of stories, to remind us of the times when women stood proudly for the Sacred Feminine. Yes, in this new age we have an opportunity to stand proudly once more without fear of persecution.

Avalon crosses over

To the High Queen of times, Blessed Be.

For Rhiannon we thank, her magic deed.

To Colleen we remember the dreadful need,

When stones fell before the shameful Creed.

A tear in the cosmos was laid bare,

To funnel the magick, faraway there,

And Avalon was & wasn't to be,

A refuge for those with eyes that could see.
