Our Woodhaven An Overview
Woodhaven is one of New York City's Distinct Communities. It has all the elements of a
small town. Woodhaven is a Business Improvement District and has a variety of stores to
match almost any shopping area as well as facilities few communities can boast.
There are very few communities which have a public golf course, tennis courts, a bandshell
which presents free concerts and performances all summer, and a priceless carousel in their
own Forest Park, a short distance from our Jamaica Ave. shopping area. Add to this a variety
of houses of worship, five banks and a number of food establishments to satisfy any culinary
enthusiast.
Access to "The City" is easy and it's a short ride to the beach. Boating is only ten minutes
away. And Kennedy Airport is less than a fifteen-minute drive.
Convenience is not the central attraction of Woodhaven--homes are. Woodhaven is a Community
of private homes which are owner-occupied and preserved. Because most Woodhavenites are
homeowners, their stake in the community strong. Many Woodhavenites have spent their lives
in the community and would live nowhere else. The community boasts many active civic
organizations: The Woodhaven Residents' Block Association, The Greater Woodhaven
Development Corp., the Woodhaven Business Improvement District and the Woodhaven Richmond
Hill Kew Gardens Ambulance Corps. And participation in them is strong. The Community has
always reacted to challenge and large numbers assemble when there is cause.
Woodhaven's business community is diverse and interesting. One can purchase everything on
Jamaica Avenue, from an international menu of food, to all your apparel needs, household
items and services. From Accountants to Undertaker   --
you can find What you need in
Woodhaven, Queens, N.Y.C.
