Human Resources Management
The internal workings of HRM root their beginnings in the culture and history that was set up by Walt when he founded the company. He was a workaholic and meticulous in regards to detail. This carries through today in HRM. Hiring practices are extensive and the company expects officers and management to be at the top of their class. Cast are expected to be detail oriented. With the integration of computer technology the HRM is simplified and more controlled. We see the quality of work increasing and an decrease in turnover. Since cast are expected to work hard there is little discrepancy in the bending of rules. HR is very textbook for The Walt Disney Company. The only changes that have occurred since Walt left have been hard(er)strategies andpolicy.(4) The organization is run very rigidly. The control gives the organization an advantage because they are not wasting precious resources on a division of the company that does not show a direct line on the financial statements. (Much like the example of training expenses and income from training on the financial statements.)
(4) In September 1984 when Michael Eisner came on board he changed the rules to better serve the organization and become a stronger corporate power.HRMGUIDE.CO.UK
