FAQ - Ogre Battle
Okay, I get a lot of questions about this
game, but mostly just a few asked many times (hence the frequently
part). From now on, I will still answer questions via e-mail, but
will also post the answers here for those afraid to ask or people
that just didn't realize it. Well, here goes.
1. How do I get Canopus?
- This one progresses in steps when you get to
the Sharom District. Visit the town with the shop.
- Visit the town in the northwest with Canopus and answer his question however you like.
- Revisit the shop town.
- Visit Yulia in the hidden temple west of the boss's base. She should give you the Wings of Victory if you reputation is above average.
- Revisit Canopus and let him join.
2. How do I get Tristan?
- This one can be tricky if you don't know about
it beforehand. It all starts way back in stage 7: Slums of
Zenobia. After you defeat the level, go to Kal Robd, to the west
of the boss castle, and talk to Tristan's nanny. Tell her you don't plan to rule to get the Key of Destiny.
- With the key, when you get to Stage 14: City
of Malano, take your Opinion Leader to Bel Chel to meet Tristan and get him
to join you and he will join you irregardless of you reputation. Make sure you do this before you beat the stage.
- You don't really need the Key in order for Tristan to join. He will also join you if you take your Opinion Leader to Bel Chel and you have a high reputation.
3. How do I maintain a high ALI and CHA with my
characters?
- This one is actually fairly easy and makes
sense if you think about it in real terms. The quick and dirty answer is
this, don't fight anything that you are a higher level than. It
may sound like suicide, but it isn't that bad, and your ALI and
CHA will rocket skyward (along with your EXP) if you fight
higher level enemies.
- The rationale behind this is simple. Do you
root for the school bully or the little guy he's beating on in a
fight? Even if the bully wins, no one respects him more, and the
underdog actually gains a little respect for going up against the
bully. This same idea is used in the game, so play the underdog,
don't be the big guy.
- However, the truth to how ALI/CHA changes work can be found here.
4. How do I get the Tablet of Yaru?
- Okay, first off you need a high reputation
(see #3) before you can do this, and maintain it through the
process. After you beat the Pogrom Forest level, go back to it.
Travel to Selshippe, in the upper left corner, it was hidden, and
get the Mercury.
- With the Mercury, you need to get the Gem of
Doun from the Dahlmuhd Desert before you beat that
level.
- Next, travel to the Pogrom Forest and get the
Olden Orb from the same town that gave you the
Mercury.
- Then get the Gem of Truth in the Ryhan Sea
level before you beat that level.
- Take all this to the Temple Shangrila and
trade them for the Tablet of Yaru.
5. How do I get the Book of the
Dead?
- After beating the City of Malano level, return
there and travel to the boss's castle, Malano. There you will
receive the Book. You can also get one in Musplem after beating the stage.
6. How do I get the Golden Beehive?
- In the stage Diaspola, you need to liberate
the town Somyul when you have a high reputation. You meet the
girl, Posha, and agree to do a favor for her. Go to the hidden
temple to the south of the mountains (directly south of Somyul) to
receive the Golden Beehive, which you return to Posha. You can also buy one at the shop for a ridiculously high price.
7. How do I get the Crown?
- Return to the town of Chilfa in the sky island Musplem with an average or higher reputation. Someone should ask you a question about beauty. Answer however you like and she should fork over the Crown.
- You can also get one in the very last stage after you liberate the town closest to your base and you have a high reputation.
- This is the "bad" way. You need to have all 12 Zodiac Stones to get it. Once you
have them, take a trip to the Chilfa in Muspelm again and you can trade all the stones for 99 Crowns. But you're forfeiting the World ending if you do.
- Other than that, you have to hope some enemies or neutral characters drop one after battle.
That's it for now, I know I have answered
others, but they were one timers before I made this little FAQ,
so go ahead and ask away with any other questions that you have. I
will be happy to answer them.
