* History: Rory was born the second of four children in Ocean Park,
California, often referred to as Dogtown because it's once-glorious amusement parks were now run down and in ruins. His father, Shane, worked for Naval Intelligence as a security officer and his mother was a home-maker. Not really fitting in at his own home, Rory began to run with crowds on the streets, taking up skateboarding and surfing.
About a year ago, Shane was killed in action and Rory's anger and frustrations with home life only worsened. His powers of hydro kinesis emerged while he was surfing. As he was caught in a serious undertow, he managed to stop the swell in mid-wave and paddled back to shore safely. Upon finding out that he was a mutant, Rory's friends were alienated and he had nowhere else to turn. Word spread at school and he was immediately ostracized.
Julie felt that she had her hands full raising three other children with all the normal problems of day-to-day life in addition to losing a father and decided that Rory needed an environment better suited to handle him and his abilities and has contacted Xavier's Institute to take Rory and train him to use his powers.
