* History: Mercada was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. Her parents own a small bed and breakfast catering to tourists to the famous Area 51. A shy young woman with only a small circle of friends, she discovered in acting an outlet to allow her to be more expressive. She revels in pretending to be someone else, seeming to have a natural talent at impersonation. The discovery of her mutation recently only expanded those possibilities and Mercada had fun maintaining multiple identities in her high school. Unfortunately, this got out of hand when she impersonated a teacher and the teacher walked into the room. Mercada got flustered and lost concentration, outing herself. Ostracized from school, her parents enrolled her in the Xavier Institute.
