Alan's Astronaut Autograph Gallery

C.C. Williams

Clifton Curtis Williams, Jr. was a Marine pilot who joined NASA in 1963 along with thirteen others. On his first mission, Williams was to fly as the Lunar Module Pilot aboard Apollo XII with Commander Charles Conrad, Jr. and Command Module Pilot Dick Gordon, but he was killed when the T-38 jet he was flying crashed while en-route to visit his father who was dying of cancer at the time. He was eventually replaced in that capacity by Alan Bean.

The vintage photos below are of the type commonly carried by Williams (and others) while traveling so that he would have something to sign when asked for an autograph by those he met along the way.
His autograph is particularly rare, let alone on two unique items of such limited circulation.
