DAILY JOURNAL COMMENTS:
I woke up at 8:30 and ate a breakfast of bagles with strawberry cream cheese. After eating, I took a shower and then cleaned up my things before getting ready to go to the Bike co-op which was where we were to work for the day.(Picture84) I arrived with Anthony around 11:00 and we started out by pulling all of the usable parts off of old beat up frames. We scrapped the frames so that they could be used for other projects such as lamps and kept the good parts for use later. After this, I went back to the apartment to get my bike so that they could do a little work on it. I rode back to the co-op and they fixed a brake cable while I tightened the brakes. I was hoping that they would be able to fix my headset which seems to have a notch in it so that when I turn the wheel, it doesn’t turn all the way without resistance. Right in the middle it likes to stop. I thought that it would be a simple problem but he said that it will need to be replaced when I get back and will be about $100. The last project that I did was to pull all of the spokes out of a wheel so that we would have the rim, spokes, hub, and nipples all separate for later use. The rim, since it was so bent, was scrap and would be used to make some really cool chairs. They use only rims which are welded together and then for the seat, there is a web of bike tubes. They look incredibly good. I finally left the co-oop with Brad and Tami around 4:00 and went to another bike shop for Brad to get a new rear tire. After buying the new tire, we went to a local resteraunt for some Thai food. I had egg rolls, mixed with the American meal of a double cheeseburger and a root beer. It was all good and freshly made. We rode back to where we were staying with Tami sitting on the Brad’s seat and Brad pedaling in front. It was quite a site since she couldn’t even reach the ground! After getting back, we sat around for a while before everyone went to the park for a jazz concert. I went back to the apartment to have some more time by myself to watch TV before getting back onto the internet and then going to sleep around 1:00.
