DAILY JOURNAL COMMENTS:
I woke up at 9:30 to the unpleasant surprise that I was the last one to wake up and that we were to start cleaning the vans in 30 minutes. I got dressed and went outside where we pulled all of the junk out of the van and started to wash the inside. To get one of the U locks off we even had to take some of the screws out of the wall since we didn’t have the key! We also had to clean all of the bowls, dishes, silverware, stoves, and coolers to be shipped back to San Francisco for stored until next year. Matt looked through the used book dumpster for some of the time!(Picture105) At 12:30, while I was still cleaning the van, my parents came back. Since my relatives were coming to meet me in Washington, DC, I decided to leave a little earlier than I had previously planned. I got all of my things together and threw them into the rental car so that we could go out for lunch. I had only eaten a rice crispy treat for breakfast so I was very hungry. We went to a local TGI Friday’s type restaurant where I had fajitas, which consisted of four fully packed tortillas, and then a coke. It took up almost three plates since it included beans, rice, onions, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. After eating we left for D.C. at around 2:30 and checked into the hotel. We went to our room where I showed my parents the maps of each state that I had traveled through, along with the specific route I had taken. After this, I typed on my computer while they watched TV until about 6:00 when we discovered that Aunt Rhona and Uncle Bob had arrived. We went up to their room and surprised them since they had no idea that I was there to greet them. We talked for a while and then found out that my Aunt Grace and Uncle Dick had arrived along with their son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Erica. We talked to them for a while and at 8:30 we went to an Italian restaurant for dinner where I had fetuccini with a creme sauce. It was a much better dinner than anything that I had had since joining Bike-Aid! After dinner, we walked back to the hotel where we talked before going to our rooms. I then typed for a little while, got onto the Internet to finally update my webpage, and then went to bed around 12:45.
